Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - Part 8

ALL I know is, as immature as it sounds - I'm saving up a bunch of "Told ya so" gifs as soon as the reboot is announced. This thread is pretty much the only place people think a reboot might not not happen. Go look at the poll for my thread

What dies that have to do with the post you quoted of mine? And you can get banned for trolling like that I'd assume.

Anyways back to the actual film this thread is for. How would anyone else handle the supporting cast like Storm and Nightcrawler? I'd definitely play up the family aspect and how it's been splintered by events in TDPS.

Sometime in early to mid 2019, its either doj already approved or rejected Disney's request. If they approved it, Laura and Jamie are dead. As I can see both companies already prepping for the acquisition phase. While if Gambit and X-Force start filming this year, then okay. They would be released neXt year. But I have my doubts.

it will be Dark Phoenix darker

Darker Phoenix/ Phoenix: Endsong would be interesting.

Dark Raven Rising, more likely, lol...

Any attempt to extend the life of the franchise, it seems!

I think Dr Doom might be one of those 2019 Marvel movies, and FF is much easier to introduce in the MCU. Maybe they'll use this movie to introduce them?

JLaw-Raven: Dark Phoenix!

Jlawstique: Dark Phoenix. Or Charles & Eric: Dark Raven.

Dr. Doom doesn't need to be made right now. He shouldn't get a movie before the Fantastic Four. I don't know what Feige will do about Hawley's film. I feel the same way about New Mutants being retconned into the MCU since it looks and feels nothing like the majority of the comics. If anything, New Mutants should feel like Homecoming and not generic hospital horror film

I really doubt Doom is going to be made especially with upcoming Disney take over. There is just no point of making it especially MCU would just disregard it and I doubt MCU would ever make a feature film for a villain.

Why cancel the X-23 movie? That’s like DC canceling The Dark Knight Rises after they announced a reboot in 2010.

An X-23 movie would be more like DC/WB doing a John Blake Batman movie with Joseph Gordon Levitt after the Dark Knight Rises.

Why wouldn't it? What would it have to do with the MCU? Or the MCU version of Wolverine? I don't see Marvel letting an X23 get .made while their own version of Wolverine is active. It'll only confuse people and possibly cannibalize Marvel offerings.

Difference is that the mob and the League of Shadows were defeated in DKR with everything wrapped up. While Logan ended with Laura and the others on the run from the bad guys, with the mutant gene still being supposed. Like how The Dark Knight ended with Batman on the run taking the fall of a crime he didn’t commit. Both TDK and Logan had tragic bittersweet endings with the heros not being at peace.

And what did the Dark Knight Rises have to do with the DCEU?

More like them doing a John Blake movie while Ben Affleck is playing Batman

You seriously believe they are going to rush a X-Men film with Wolverine into production to where it would come out when the X-23 movie(which is in pre-production right now) would release? Which should be in 2020.

I think Logan found his peace. That film was about closure.

They haven't even found a director for X23 yet. And yes, I do believe Wolverine will show up sooner than later. Just not in an X-Men movie at first. The Hollywood Reporter said Marvel is excited to recast Wolverine into the MCU. So he's probably coming sooner than later.

And what about the TDR? When MOS was announced nobody even knew it would become the DCEU. (It wasn't even suppose to be that, originally) Nobody knew Batman was going to be rebooted at that time. It makes no sense to continue Hugh Jackman's story whole somebody else is playing the character in the MCU

I was referring to Laura.

Her dream became a reality. She crossed the border.

You could certainly revisit her character, but it doesn't feel necessary.

Leaving Batman as shi*heel #1 in the mind of the public at the end of TDK is something completely different. He's the main protagonist. The sacrifice was noble but the story was in no way complete.

Yes, it does have a director. James Mangold who did the last two Wolverine films and is working on the script with Kyle Craig(X-23’s creator and writer of Thor 3).

Green Lantern was originally meant to be the start of the DCEU. Which came out before DKR, which was always meant to be closure for the character.

Logan mentioned how they would still come after her even though they were over the border. So she’s not truly safe.

Yes, his last bit of "fatherly" advice, but that play's into one of the themes of the film, that there are truly no happy endings. This one came at a cost.

I'm certainly not against an X-23 film, I'd love it in fact, but the comparison to TDK is not really an apt one. There is much more closure to Laura's storyline in the context of Logan then there was to Batman's arc in TDK.

She could rock a franchise, but it's far from a guarantee at this point.
