Let's hope so. Nobody that actually likes X-Men wants them combined. The best way forward is to maintain a separate universe and let Logan and Deadpool pop up in the Comedy Universe from time to time.
Leave the X-Men alone. Avengers pollution isn't needed.
I love the X-Men but have grown tired and frustrated with what Fox has done to them. It simply is unable to do a proper ensemble movie.
Fox's best performing and most profitable X-Men instalment is Deadpool, a film the studio didn't even want made for many years, with a VFX studio boss as the director - and doing better than other directors because he understands the material!
Logan is acclaimed but shows mutants extinct, the X-Men dead and Xavier skewered by Wolverine. Not exactly setting up a great future.
Meanwhile, X-Men Apocalypse crapped all over the mythos with poor portrayals and mischaracterisations, particularly for Storm, Psylocke, Jubilee, Apocalypse and Mystique. Doesn't bode well for the future, does it? Poor treatment of ethnic minorities and women are a hallmark of this series, along with bad wirework, bad fight scenes and bad CGI.
On those grounds, I'm more than willing to see Disney have a go.
And, guess what, Disney has bought Fox so the chances are that we WILL see a new iteration of X-Men in future.
To be honest, I'd rather see a well-developed Storm in a Black Panther movie and a better Beast in the Avengers than the poorly developed ones in the Fox films.
