Days of Future Past 'X-men: DOFP' Official CAST Thread (announcements and discussion)

Storm's part in the previous films have been so inconsequential that she could probably be written out while shooting if a director wanted. Her few lines could just be reassigned to someone else as they rarely ever have anything to do with her character or have any importance to the plot. I can't imagine her role would be any different in DOFP.

Halle is also rumoured to have not got along with Famke (a tabloid even picked up the feud between the two when X3 was released). Not that that will be a big factor in anything, but it's another person part of the Singer crew that has had problems with Berry.

I have never heard those rumours and I doubt they are true. I think the X-Men cast all got along well with each other or at the least the original ones did (Halle, Hugh, James, Famke, Anna, Patrick, Ian, Rebecca)

Also regarding your comment about storm's inconsequential role. I would be inclined to agree with you but we must keep in mind that Matthew Vaughn had a hand in the script and we all know from his X3 days that he liked the character storm so he might have written a good role for her. t wouldn't have been hard to come up with inspiration as Storm was in the original dofp comic. If what i'm speculating is true than I doubt Singer would immediately write her out. It would be a disrespect to Vaughn who is still producer of the film.

Is this the same Vaughn that scoffed at the idea of sharing screenplay credit with two others? That when he came into the project, he and Jane Goldman supposedly rewrote the whole movie and so sole screenplay credit should only be for him and Goldman?

It would be highly hypocritical of him to now think that a new director should keep what he has written for DOFP as is. Besides, with the number of times he's abandoned high profile projects, he should get used to having his ideas and scripts changed.

I don't think he rewrote the screenplay because he didn't want to share the credit. I think he changed it because he felt that changes needed to be done. It's good for a director to have some input on what the script instead of just filming from someone else's script. besides the changes Vaughn made were actually warranted. The original script had a love triangle between chares, erik and moira his screenplay as we know developed the relationship, bromance of Erik and charles.

Also Vaughn did not stay on as producer on those other films he left. he has stayed on for Days of Future Past

Famke Janssen was in LA last week, which is a little unusual for her because she live in New York and her tv show shoots in Toronto. Hopefully she was there meeting for DOFP negotiations!

interesting....... but it seems Bryan is in Sidney right now.

Maybe Famke is meeting with the producers

Possibly. But I'd say
if the rumors of her appearing in The Wolverine are true,
then there is a good chance she will show up in DOFP.

For now, I think a cameo for The Wolverine is enough for Jean Grey. I know people want all the major characters to appear in DOFP because DOFP is going to be the biggest X-Men movie ever and its the most ambitious X-Men movie. But just think what would it do to the story of the movie, they are putting so many characters and half of them might not get a proper role in the movie and a proper comeback. Save them for the other X-Men movies.

for those of you who use twitter and like to follow x-men actors, here is Shawn Ashmore profile:

https://***********/ShawnRAshmore

lets see if Bryan ends getting him back or not.

I think either him or Collosus will be back. lets see what happens

I'd hope to see (beside Fassbender, McKellen, Stewart, McAvoy, Lawrence, Hoult and Flemyng)...For the past:

- Lucas Till (Havok)
- Rose Byrne (Moira)
- Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee)
- January Jones (Emma)
- Zoe Kravitz (Angel Salvadore)
- Alex Gonzalez (Riptide)

(The last two maybe must die)

For the future:
- Hugh Jackman (Wolverine)
- James Marsden (Cyclops)
- Halle Berry (Storm)
- Kelsey Grammer (Beast)
- Rebecca Romijn (Mystique)

In cameos other ones like Iceman, Colossus, Kitty, Rogue, Angel...

And Polaris.

I'd like to see the future part only last about 30-40 minutes and only have a few mutants.

Future should have, perhaps:
Professor X
Magneto
Wolverine
Storm
Kitty
Iceman (maybe)

Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Colossus, Angel, Beast, Mystique, etc... all already dead.

The Past should have:
Professor X
Magneto
Beast
Havok
Banshee
Emma
"Angel"
Riptide
The Time Traveler, whoever that is.

Brotherhood planning an assassination, whoever the time traveler is goes back to try to stop it.

4 or 5 x-men on the future seems pretty fine to me.

More would be too much, definetly. At least in my opinion. As much as Id love to see all the cast again, Id like to see some well known x-men names on cemetery graves. that could be an emotional scene.

Maybe we need to count up how many characters they fitted in the other films, so get an idea of how many more we can expect to see!

Yes, we shouldn't see too many in the future, unless we see a lot in the beginning and they are gradually killed off.

I'm really excited to see who will they choose, and also what these 'very new things' are that Bryan mentioned in addition to the FuturePast part of the story.

ok, lets do it:

X1: 6 x-men
Cyclops
Jean
Storm
Wolverine
Rogue
Iceman (small role)

X2: 7 x-men. 2 cameos from A-list x-men.
Wolverine
Storm
Cyclops
Jean
Rogue
Iceman
Nightcrawler
(Colossus and Kitty as cameos)

X3: 9 x-men. 1 small role
Wolverine
Storm
Jean
Cyclops
Beast
Rogue
Iceman
Kitty
Angel
Colossus (small role)

soooo, taking all of this into account, Id say that if X1 already had 6 x-men, DOFP should have less than 6 team members, to have a bigger feel of the tragic future

what do you all think?

I count Professor X as a X-Men member.

X3 had so many X-Men members that they killed 3 of them and depowered 1 of them. And I think it would just suck if those killed/depowered X-Men will comeback for this DOFP, like nothing happened. Even if they explained it, it still doesn't sound good to me.

On that basis, we would be left with:

Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Iceman, Kitty, Angel, Nightcrawler

That's still a good line-up.

Unfortunately, it rules out Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Xavier, Mystique. We definitely saw Magneto's powers returning so I guess he would be okay to use.

If they use an actual future beyond The Last Stand, then the above logic should apply.

If they use an alternate future, there are more possibilities - but I guess there are still concerns that the audience wouldn't understand why dead/depowered characters are suddenly appearing again.

What's the actor of Nightcrawler currently doing?

I think a tv series on Uk.

Its curious how many x-men actors have recently been or are currently on tv shows: Anna, Shawn, Alan, Kelsey, I think Famke too...

I don't think they should bring back Nightcrawler, well not yet. I just watched X2 last week and I think it would be weird to see Nightcrawler again with the X-Men especially X2 was released almost a decade ago and he didn't appear in X3. If they are gonna bring him back, it should be a proper comeback, like they should show and explain why he came back to the X-Men. I don't want FOX to bring him back just for the purpose of bringing back fan-favorites from the original trilogy.

we definetly needs a proper X-men 4.

With the big comebacks of Nightcrawler and Gambit

Yes and that proper X-Men 4 should have happened a long time ago, like year 2009 but FOX decided to do these spin-off movies and now we are talking about alternate universe and timeline. Things would have been more simple right now if they just continued the original series, we would have gotten X4 in 2009, X5 this year (if they continued the 3-years gap), X6 in 2014 or 2015 and I bet there wouldn't be a lot of continuity errors! Imagine if we got Gambit in X4 and a new group of mutant villains such as the Hellfire Club or Apocalypse/Horsemen or Mr.Sinister/Acolytes, oh well.

Yes. I didn't mean necessarily seeing Nightcrawler in DoFP. While it would be great to see him fighting Sentinels by teleporting away their heads or legs to bring them down, I agree it should be a proper comeback. Plus, we might also have Azazel in DoFP, so there would be a duplication of demonic-looking teleporters.

The list I made was for the possibilities, not all those who should definitely return.

yeah, its kind of shocking to imagine that we would be on X5 by now.

and yeah, Gambit was clearly the right x-men to appear on X4, and with Nightcrawler returning, Angel in a bigger role, sharing one scene with Kurt.... maybe Emma too, starting to develop her ambiguous side, and maybe sharing the very first scene with Scott, for a future relationship.

If Fox would have called Bryan back in 2009 he probably would have said yes too, and right now the X-men franchise would be the longest to date and on a epic elevel.

but anyway, it is what it is. Lets see what happens after DOFP. Hopefully Fox finds a way to continue with both casts.

fingers crossed!

I think FOX got carried away by "completing the trilogy" and after X3 was released, they wanted to do something different. They started with Wolverine's spin-off movie and after that they started to develop more spin-off movies like Young X-Men, Origins: Magneto, Deadpool, First Class, etc. But yeah it is what it is.

I think they stoped it as a trilogy because they lost Bryan.

on X2 dvd, both actors and Bryan teased about doing X3 and X4, and on and on.

Im sure if Bryan would have stayed, he would have done a fourth one, at least.

The plan was to go as far as the audience wanted. The sad thing is that the audience wanted more, but they lost the creator of the franchise and made a dissapointing third part. So they didnt feel confident enough to keep goin.

Pretty sad, knowing the potential of this universe and seeing now that Bryan has always been interested in returning.
