Days of Future Past X-Men Origins: First Class--Post Your Casting Choices Here

And if I'm going to steal other actresses from True Blood, I'd love Rutina Wesley as Young Storm.

Yes Please!

Wow...an actual BLACK-looking Storm. Could we be so lucky?

*remembers that Bryan Singer is directing now*

No. We could not. :p

Yea, Singer only had a problem with Halle Berry. But to Halle's defense, she only clashed with Singer because she felt that Storm wasn't getting the appropriate character development during the first two movies, which was 100% the truth.

Meh.

Halle was more concerned about screentime for Halle--not necessarily for Storm. Years later when I look at X1 and X2 I think Storm's screentime was pretty even with Jean or Scott's. It's Logan that sucked up 75% of the character development.

That's what I think too.

I think she felt since she was one of the biggest stars then she should be one of the biggest characters. And she basically got her wish in X3, where every one of the main X-Men from the first film had reduced roles while she jumped up in importance. That's probably why she asked fans to push for an X4 too, since her character is now the second most important character in the series (after Wolverine of course).

That's how Hollywood works. Halle and Hugh were the big stars. They got paid the most, they got more screen time.

I don't actually blame Halle for pushing for more presence. I mean she's an A-List actress, why would she play a supporting character in an ensemble when she could be playing the lead in another film? I do think Halle cared about the character, she wasn't all 'me me me'.

LS is making threads again in the x-men forums. It's starting to feel like old times again.:woot:

It's going to be tough to cast this movie especially finding actors to play younger versions of Magneto and Xavier. Because there aren't many young actors who'll have same kind of the gravitas Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart (now both Sirs) have. But Singer has a good eye for talent so i'm confident he will assemble a cast that the majority will like.

I'm not great with casting suggestions but i would like to offer one for the role of young Jean Grey.

Alexa Nikolas has made a number of appearances on various tv shows and she caught my eye on Heroes as a teenage Angela Petrelli and recently on a episode of Cold Case.

interesting, retro.

that pic reminds me Haley from X3.

Yea that was called Catwoman. :p

But yea i get what you mean. :)

Would fox/singer rather cast mostly unknowns? or more likely to cast some stars since Wolverine wont be part of this?

considering it's going to be mostly a young cast, how big name can you go??

what young actors/actresses are out there that really have star power
(no, really, I am asking, I don't really keep up with the younger generation of actor/actresses, to know who's who)

though, I personal prefer unknown myself

Well, Xavier, Erik, the main villain, and other various characters that may appear (Moira? Sen. Kelly?) can and will likely be bigger names. The kids can, and should, be new unknown faces.

Oh god no. My little sister watches that Zoey 101 show and this girl is so damn irritating.

if their going to cast someone that young, anyway, I'd probably just say go with Haley Ramm, (from x3) again

Well, I wouldn't say 'star power' but rather recognizable faces with dedicated fans that would ensure butts on seats; particularly from the female demographic.

Hence, I wouldn't be surprised if they recast Cyclops. It wouldn't be the first time they'd done it (e.g. Ellen Page/Kitty in X3 and Aaron Stanford/Pyro in X2) especially since his character is being upgraded from an extra (in Wolverine) to a main character. As for who would play him, who would fit age- and appearance-wise and attract viewers, I think someone like Chace Crawford (pic here) from Gossip Girl and Footloose would be a logical choice.

I like the idea for James Marsters as Magneto. I can picture aging between Marsters and McKellen enough to be believable. Not too sure for Xavier. Jason Isaacs could be a possibility, but the age between those two choices is problematic ;)

Carey Mulligan as Jean Grey? She doesn't have star power per se but after the awards season she might be a house hold name.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Cyclops? He'll put the 'slim' in Scott 'Slim' Summers.

Sorry I've just been reading up on Oscar contenders this year and it's bleeding into my casting call choices for X-men. :woot:

probably a bit too old for they target age range (well, I mean ,he is still young, but, he’s been becoming more known for taking on more mature roles lately, I think people would have a hard time believing him as a teen)

although, he is good, and would bring some (idk, if I’d say star power) but, maybe, bring attention to the project

actually, what about him as young, 20's, Magneto...???

Levitt as a younger Magneto could work. The casting suggestion stems from an Entertainment Weekly report where an anonymous poster replied to the news item pointing out that Bryan Singer met for lunch with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

As I had suggested on my original post, take this info with a grain of salt. :p

Does anyone know when they're going to start casting?

Once they've got the script finished. They will also need to wait for Singer who may make Jack the Giant Killer first.

It could be over a year before casting begins, depending on how things go.

Agreed. I dont want ****ing Chase Crawford as Cyclops or anything. :o

Ok, here are my casting choices once again. There are two possibilities:

1. Assuming the X-Men are in their 30's when we meet them in X1, First Class will see them in their 20's (with Beast being older). In which case I'd cast:

FirstClass1.jpg

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Scott), Olivia Wilde (Jean), Zoe Saldana(Storm), AnnaLynne McCord (Emma), and Patrick Wilson (Beast).

2. The second option is the X-Men are younger. In their late teens. In this case, I would keep everyone we already have (Tim Pocock for Scott, Haley Ramm for Jean, Tahyna Tozzi for Emma) and add Rutina Wesley as Storm, and keep Patrick Wilson as Beast, because frankly, he's perfect.

Tim Pocock (Scott), Haley Ramm (Jean), Rutina Wesley (Storm), Tahyna Tozzi (Emma), and Patrick Wilson (Beast).
