Days of Future Past X-Men Origins: First Class--Post Your Casting Choices Here

On the whole Berry wanting more screen time, I agree it was because she was a big name and deserved more screentime, but also, her name was on just about every piece of promo material, alongside Jackman's they made it seem like it was a Hugh & Halle film, wherein she was a supporting-supporting character, who mainly stood in the background and had one minor dialogue sequence per film... she was their poster girl, like Hugh Jackman was the poster boy, but he actually got a storyline... heck I'd demand more too

Rutina Wesley looks great for Storm (maybe for a reboot whereine they're in their mid 20's), but IMO she's looks a bit mature for a teen, plus if this is a prequel they'll have to find someone who kinda looks like they'd grow up to look like Halle

plus why does everyone insist Beast must be older, I think he's the same age as the core X-Men, just more mature mentally...

I also like the suggestion of Joseph Levitt-Gordon as a 20 something Magneto and James Marsters for later on

Agreed. I dont want ****ing Chase Crawford as Cyclops or anything. :o

The problem with going with non-big-name actors for the main characters is that there'd be nothing to draw anyone but hardcore fans to watch the movie. So, even if you have the most talented of performers who fit their roles perfectly, they wouldn't get a chance to prove themselves since nobody's watching. Therefore, it's not a feasible goal. The best we can hope for are relatively noteworthy actors who take their roles seriously and aren't doing the movie purely for the paycheque.

Ok, here are my casting choices once again. There are two possibilities:

1. Assuming the X-Men are in their 30's when we meet them in X1, First Class will see them in their 20's (with Beast being older). In which case I'd cast:

FirstClass1.jpg

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Scott), Olivia Wilde (Jean), Zoe Saldana(Storm), AnnaLynne McCord (Emma), and Patrick Wilson (Beast).

Now that's one beautiful cast.

That is a damn good cast.

I wonder if we might get a few other characters with that team as well... Banshee perhaps?

plus if this is a prequel they'll have to find someone who kinda looks like they'd grow up to look like Halle

Which would be a major problem for me.

FOX, Singer & Co. have recieved enough flack over the last 10 years (literally) about Halle's casting to encourage them to go back and do the casting of this character right. This is the perfect opportunity to provide some real inspired casting and demonstrate that they've learned from their past mistakes.

Obviously since this is FOX/Rothman we're talking about, that might be asking too much.

Well given that she's been in two of the most successful movies of '09 (including one from Fox), I'd be willing to bet that they'd have absolutely no problem with Saldana.

Now, whether she'd do it... thats a different story.

I'd die and go to heaven, come back to the earth and go mental if they cast Zoe for Storm. No lie.

Same x10 if there's a nude scene.......... well I can hope, cant I?! :cmad:

I have yet to see Avatar, but I've been smitten since Star Trek.

Did they ever mention if Colussus is a student in the X-films? I just rewatched X2 and they never said whether he's a student or a graduate.

If he's a graduate, I see no reason why he can't be added to the cast of X-men Origins: First Class.

he was definitely suppose to be part of the younger class...
Though, he seemed much old then most of the students,(this was mainly due to his size) he was more part of the Iceman and Rogue generation, then the first class generation

I could maybe see them introduce a young Piotr in one of the first class squeals...
(perhaps they could even tie his origin into one of the wolverine sequels, if they ever do one of wolverines Russian storylines) then cross him back over into the x movies

I actually don't mind AnnaLynne McCord and in some storylines in 90210, I do side with her character. Yes I'm an avid watcher of the show...sue me LOL

But I think casting anyone from the CW or 90210 in particular will attract the wrong kind of publicity when it comes to this franchise.

All IMO, of course.

Well, AnnaLynne is probably the only person on that show of note, haha. Plus, she has a decent background (Nip/Tuck, anyone?). But, if you have a cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Patrick Wilson, and Zoe Saldona, I doubt if Ms. McCord would even be featured in the promo at all.

Maybe it's just my love for Supernatural talking here, but I think either Lauren Cohan and Katie Cassidy would make great young Emma Frosts.

Haha another CW starlet.

I do like her in Melrose Place. Ok that's enough from me...Between my love for 90210 and MR, I'm looking like your typical valley girl. :woot: LOL

in the tradition of casting bond girls (with both Berry, and Famke having been in bond movies) what about, Gemma Arterton, for Jean... ?

Apparently JGL is the same height as Marsden...

Also, it would be interesting if somewhat weird to see a 13 year old Colossus added to the cast.

Its more of a villain casting but if Apocalypse were to show up I think Laurence Fishburne could be great in the role.

interesting, retro.

that pic reminds me Haley from X3.

You're right. I see a resemblance there.
Oh god no. My little sister watches that Zoey 101 show and this girl is so damn irritating.

What i've seen her in has been outside Zoey 101 and, besides, it's a kids show so i wouldn't be too harsh on her acting skills.
Wait until I start creating shock-waves of essay-discussions throughout this muthasucka. :oldrazz::up:
That'll be the day.:awesome:

2. The second option is the X-Men are younger. In their late teens. In this case, I would keep everyone we already have (Tim Pocock for Scott, Haley Ramm for Jean, Tahyna Tozzi for Emma) and add Rutina Wesley as Storm, and keep Patrick Wilson as Beast, because frankly, he's perfect.

FirstClass2.jpg

Tim Pocock (Scott), Haley Ramm (Jean), Rutina Wesley (Storm), Tahyna Tozzi (Emma), and Patrick Wilson (Beast).

Outside AnnaLynne McCord (don't know her) option 1 is good but i'm iffy on option 2. Pocock and Tozzi weren't memorable in their respective roles but then again they weren't given a lot to do.:o

Also, i should note that Wilson was cast in Valkyrie but had to drop out because of scheduling. So it wouldn't surprise me if he was on Singer's radar for X-Men.

Rutina Wesley is going to be far too old to play Storm in this. I love her though.

I don't like option 2 either. I'm all for option one. 'Cept they may be too old, but whatevs. :o

It'd be funny to see Zoe get to play Storm, considering Uhura was a major driving force for the addition of Storm to the X-Men.

Don't know how the hell she could handle (potentially) three big science fiction franchises though.
