I also think that the assumption that Xavier and Magneto will be 20 something when they form the X-men is not correct at all. How can they be 20 something if Cyclops is the first student? Cyclops' powers will manifest around high school and then he'll be taken in. For the age difference to stay consistent between him and Xavier, Xavier will have to be 25-30 years older than Scott. Assuming Charles is in his late 50's/early 60s in X-Men then he'd have to be in his early 40's in First Class when the team is formed.....could there be flashbacks to he and Magneto as younger men, yes. But does it make sense for the school to be formed when they are that young....no.

Plus Magneto was about 12 or so in 1945, per the openning scene in X-Men... To make him in his 20s would place the origin of the school in the 1960s. If they go with A 1990s origin (as a prequel, or sorts, to the first film) then Magneto would have to be in his 60s.
