Singer favored his script also and was going to use it completely but didn't have the budget. And 80% of what made it on screen was all Penn. So yeah.

This I can agree with, he had an interview about X3 about how thye changed a lot of things and he didnt like what they did. But Im not going to give him anymore credit than he deserves for X2.

I will admit I liked X-3, I blatantly see how people can dislike it so much though. Kinberg is a pretty meh writer though, I haven't seen Mr and Mrs Smith yet though and I've heard good things. Remember Penn fighting Fox the whole time even get DP in the story. And even he has many reservations about the final film. Yet as a writer Penn is pretty good. Even if you ever read his Last Action Hero script(the original). So no I see no argument beyond "X-3 sucked so Penn sucks" yeah and MArio Puzo wrote a pretty camped up 60's batman show Superman script that had to be heavily rewritten. So I don't ****ing care.

I guess I can get past fanboyish feelings.

I dont think Penn is that bad of a writer, but IMO hes not that great of a writer. I just think hes average. If he pulls it off great, awesome. But he really hasnt shown me anything to make me behind him 100%. And by the way, I just go by the credits Penn is credited for the story along with Singer and Hayter, not the screenplay.

Penn wrote Suspect Zero and Behind Enemy Lines....those are two decent films.

However outside of those two (he did not write the story for BEL) most of his movies have been crap. Some of it has been FOX's fault, however his campy exposition filled dialogue in X3 left much to be desired.

I really can't judge Penn too harshly for FF and X3 as their entire productions were pretty much screwed from the get go. However, he obviously hasn't done anything too impressive either, and because of that I'm sorta worried. Given it's probable size, Marvel really can't afford to mess up an Avengers movie, and I would've hoped they'd had gotten a big bigger, better name to write the script.
Damn, do I wish they'd just make an Ultimates movie. The comic's just so utterly cinematically, they'd barely even need a script to begin with.

And now I'll wait for the flood of replies telling me the Ultimates suck...

I am slightly worried over Hulk. I feel they are going to try to go far afield of what Ang Lee did. I don't want them to do that. He may have messed up the ending and villain in that movie, but he got a lot right. Especially when it came to how Hulk is a psychological thriller in a sense. He really did a nice job with the characters and showing how they are fragile. They better not make Hulk some smash 'em up.

Fox doesn't give the proper production time for a nice and tightly revised script. Hell I am REALLY scared about FF2.

Hulk will be a great film.

Worrying about Avengers now is silly. It won't even happen this decade. It will also almost write itself with every character having their own solo film appearing from now until they unite in Avengers. You can't really write a final Avengers film until you see what works in their own solo films.

this is why marvels doing all the avengers in there own films.I bet they fight the hulk then suddenly aliens attack,it be nice if at the end of each of the heros films the others showed up to ask them to join.

But Ultimate Marvel is not everyone's cup of tea. I say blend the Ultimates with the Avengers.

Have a Chitauri invasion of Earth. Have a massive battle between the Chitauri and the Avengers like in the Ultimates. Have a scene where a lot of heroes such as the Falcon, War Machine, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, X-Men, etc. are captured by the Chitauri (like the scene where the Liberators have captured Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men). Take a lot of influences of the Ultimates, but it shouldn't be a full on Ultimates movie.
