Zak Penn: Q & A's from the XVerse on Hulk 2

What's with the Fox bashing. Enough already. You guys are acting like chilren. LOL Get a grip.

My point wasnt to say he is a bad guy or writer (though he is. Here is his list of oscar worthy work from IMDB. Now I am even more scared. Spy Hunter, X3, FF, Elektra, Suspect Zero, X2?, Behind Enemy Lines... oh my god how does this piece of crap still get jobs??????) Back to my point, its that he says nothing good about Lee's pic which to me means, in hollywood speak, he hated it. Which again to me means he has no critical eye or worse what he considers quailty is considerably less and looking at his writing credits I find it hard to argue with that.

Lee's pick was well made, well thought out, each frame showed quailty, was highly ambitious, and in the end just ended up being a bit too heavy handed for its own good. But all Zak does is complain about what is wrong with it and how his wont be like that. It wont have quailt? It wont have ambition? Lee's pic, with a few fixes, would be the best superhero movie ever made. Realize that. Acknowledge all the great stuff in it, talk about what worked, cause must of it did, and build from that. That would show me a guy of intelligence, creativity and vision. But right now I think this guy comes across as someone who believes FF was good and that scares me.

Whats with the Fox bashing? Every bad Superhero movie to come out in the 21st century, beyond catwoman, has come from fox. Even X1 was only saved through Singers sure hand, as his budget was severly cut and Fox did everything they could to shoe horn it. Hulk, while not well recieved was at least ambitious and really has a lot of great moments.

I really dont see how Rothman has a job still. They want to make money and Superhero movies are about huge amounts of money, becuase they are franchises from day one. Yet to produce them at such low quailty, they are leaving tons of money on the table. I would fire him on the spot for basically losing me billions of dollars.

They're not leaving tons of money on the table with X3. Every industry analyst and expert expected far less than 400 million worldwide with most being 300-350 worldwide. It appears X3 will easily make 465 million worldwide and likely 470. That's done and over with. Wolverine is coming next, it's been in script stage since before X3 was being written. It'll be awesome. BTW Fox was only the distributor on Daredevil and Elektra...that was New Regency that owned those rights...not FOX. I loved X3 and to me the only poor Fox superhero film has been X1. I liked FF. Not great but not bad.

If you guys like go ahead and try to find a Marvel Press release from Marvel prior to their own studio slate. Even with video games and toys the licnese holder makes the press release and if Marvel wishes they can do a follow up one...after.

You can't defend the rushed schedule that X3 went through. That's just bad business and poor filmmaking. Good films take time. Alot of thought, alot of effort in pre-production. Hiring a director when the script is largely locked down and he has 10 months to shoot and do the effects is nuts.
Not to mention forcing Wolverine to the be the main sell of the films, he is popular, but not so popular they should abandon other characters to prop him up.
There's no excuse for the poor adaption these films have been, Sin City proved accurate Adaptions are possible. Both critically, and financially but also with movie goers in general. I can see other X-men fans feeling different. That doesn't change the way I feel about it. :(
I really hope Wolverine bombs, and Fox stalls the X-men property so Marvel can get it back. Atleast they understand what a 'team' is. And know there are interesting stories for alot of the members of the X-men(you know, the group that Wolverine is a member of). Hell Fox got it right once along time ago, remember the 90's cartoon series?
As for FF, the only redeeming factor(for me) is the presence of Ioan Gruffudd. Hopefully he gets to make better use of his acting ability in the sequel. As long as he's there i'll watch the sequels.

Also, I really don't want Zak Penn anywhere near this Hulk movie. Maybe the announcement of a skilled director who can make a good film will change my mind.:)

^ That's not the point. The point I made was no money was left on the table and Fox is raking in more money than anyone expected. Also nobody cares what you or I or any whining fanboy wants after the fact. Zak has the job. Live with it. You have a choice to buy a ticket or not buy a ticket. I loved X3 and you didn't. Neither of us are alone. The box office will tell the tale.

Argh, he had the worst fake American accent since Bruce Bana's.

Perhaps its because they are THE worst studio for ****ing up movies that have the potential to be amazing, not to mention they ruined my childhood dreams of seeing the Pheonix Saga on screen, by churning out that piece of **** X3.

So your saying you dont care about quality as long as the movie makes money, i'm sorry, but if Fox would have made this movie to its potential, they would have made a lot more money. I only went to see the movie once and will NOT be buying the DVD, if they had taken their time and delivered a quality X3, i would have gone to see it 8 times and bought every DVD ever released. But they are ****-ups plain and simple.

So Penn has written a draft for Hulk before? I didn't know that.

Hulk vs sharks?
yeah, i'd like a full review of the script but i dont think they did one

Penn did say he would be re-writing his old script, so hopefully it will still be a good one, i would love for nothing more than Penn to prove me wrong about his writing ability.

i wanna read what the other guy did, he seemed to have the best script before Ang came

no one seems to have done a script review

Oh AICN mentioned that it was really good, and cross between the T.V show ( ) and the comic (:) )

yeah.. and yet they didnt do a god damn script review

This movie needs to be more like the TV show as far as Banner being a fugitive, on the run, and never being able to settle down with one girl. I think Connely's character should always be in his heart. I also think he should be in a future FF film where the 4 have to capture him.

Sorry AD but i disagree with all you just said. I dont want Hulk anywere near the poor FF movies.
