no.... the whole image is on the screen:cwink:

ive been to imax plenty of times to know that.

Ahh Nolan is a such a badass always wearing his coat with his hands in the pockets.

joker will be joker threw out the whole film, and that jokers "people" have no clue of the Jokers where abouts are. what if they still dont know its him while they are robbing the bank, he pulls something crazy or does not stick to the plan, and his men turn on him not knowing it's their "boss" removing a plastic mask with smeared makeup, the brown skin and paint explanation?
that's crazy.

so crazy it just might work.

ok, from what miranda fox said....she said that joker will be joker threw out the whole film, and that jokers "people" have no clue of the Jokers where abouts are. what if they still dont know its him while they are robbing the bank, he pulls something crazy or does not stick to the plan, and his men turn on him not knowing it's their "boss" removing a plastic mask with smeared makeup, the brown skin and paint explanation?

or not or whatever.

i think nolan has us fooled.

making the sequel we all really needed.

this summer Martin lawrence reprizes his role as The "Dark" Knight.

Interesting theory. At this point, anything can go and that's why its fun speculating.

Love the official press release from Warner Bros.......

It finally confirms this bad ass synopsis as well as Morgan and Maggie:

The follow-up to the action hit "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. In the new film, Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

The film also stars Academy Award winner Michael Caine ("The Cider House Rules") as Alfred; Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger ("Brokeback Mountain") as arch-villain The Joker; Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon; Aaron Eckhart as District Attorney Harvey Dent, who becomes better known as another of Batman's arch-nemeses, Two-Face; Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby") as Lucius Fox.

Yup, it's great to have Morgan back.

This seems clearly very inspired on The Long Haloween, except Joker is the character creating havoc instead of Holiday.

He seems to improve or "bring up" movies he's in. Hard to explain, but you usually know that when you see Morgan Freeman on screen, you're probably not watching a complete crapfest. He's solid and reliable and one of my favorites. Has been for years and years.

I assumed he would be back. Was this up in the air until just now?

If the last movie was any indication, he could probably film all his parts in 3-4 days, tops.

When I think of Morgan Freeman work in movies I just think of "quality".

Althought that wasn't always the case...:cwink:

I think its b/c he has a trustworthy demeanor which comes through in all his roles. I know what you mean though, one feels better about the film when he's on screen.

People were making a big deal about it b/c his name was never officially mentioned until recently so people being paranoid as they are started questioning if he's coming back. I had no doubt since his scenes don't require extensive filming and there's no reason why he wouldn't be back.

Yeah, well, even the greatest actors in the world - and Freeman is surely one of them - have had their share of embarrassments... I remmber a hilarious speech Michael Caine gave while he was accepting some award, I think it was one of those life achievements things, and he said "I worked in some great movies.. And I also did A LOT of crap... (crowd laughs) and made a lot of money. (crowd bursts into laughter)

Awesome. Still not as bad as Eric Roberts though - DOA!!

I've never seen a bad performance from Caine, maybe its out there somewhere

LOL! Ironically Morgan Freeman has referred to his time on the Electric company as EASY READER as "golden handcuffs".

"It was my idea to just do The Electric Company for a couple of years and go on. But, you get trapped by that money thing. It's golden handcuffs. It gets a lot of people, including soap opera actors and commercial actors. Then, they don't want to see you in serious work. That was going to be me, having people come up to me saying "My kids love you!". I was there three years too long."

I think the Red Hood (a character that, despite being an integral part of Joker's origin in the comics and graphic novels, has not been shown before) should be in this movie. Who says the Red Hood has to look like somebody with a red condom on their head? Nolan could "realistify" that instead of giving us some sort of Stephen King character for the Joker.

Go with the modern, Jason Todd look.

"the man later known as the Joker was a master criminal going by the alias of the Red Hood. His costume consisted of a large domed red helmet and a red cape. While attempting to rob a chemical plant, his men were dispatched and then he was suddenly surrounded on a catwalk by Batman and Robin. Left with no alternatives, he dove into a catch basin for the chemicals and swam to freedom, surviving because of a special breathing apparatus built into the helmet. The toxins in the vat permanently and grotesquely disfigured him, however, turning his hair green, his skin white and his lips red. Upon discovering this, he went insane and became the Joker."

I think that should be ALL we know about the Joker as far as a definitive origin at the beginning. That he was dressed up as (or was) the Red Hood and fell into a vat of chemicals.

Now, I think THIS alternate origin from TKJ should be hinted at more and more as the movie progresses: "and thus the Red Hood; the Joker is portrayed as a former chemical technician, now a struggling stand-up comedian with a pregnant wife. Approached by the Red Hood gang to lead a raid of his former workplace, the Ace Chemical plant, he accepts, in order to make enough money to start a better life for his family. The gang gives him the costume of the Red Hood, which has been worn by many men before - this way, the gang is able to falsely identify the Red Hood as their leader on all the crimes they perform, with the police unaware that a different dupe is behind the hood every time. The day of the proposed robbery, however, police inform him that his wife died in a freak accident. He attempts to back out of the robbery, but the gang strong-arms him into keeping his commitment to them. During the robbery, the plant's security men spot the intruders and shoot the other criminals dead. The engineer tries to flee, but Batman appears and corners him on the plant's catwalk. Terrified, he jumps off the catwalk into the chemical basin to escape. As in the previous origin story, he goes insane after discovering what the chemicals have done to his face, and becomes the Joker."

So, really, it's a mystery that Batman is trying to figure. Who REALLY is the Red Hood? Is the Joker the Red Hood? Or is the Joker figuratively one of the Red Hood's victims?

that's crazy.

so crazy it just might work.
thanks.
i actually forgot to mention that Heath also had only streaks of green in his hair. and later the stunt man had a full set of green hair...think about being a hot halloween mask.what if the joker was laying low as one of his common thugs. yeah it might sound crazy but it does seem to work. espeacially the fact that Miranda(well trusted source of info) posted about his people not knowing his wear abouts in the begining of the film. if the heist is the begining of the film then.........
it be a grand intro.
but i dunno, if you saw the video of some of his thugs coming in by helicopter sliding down the ropes very comical and clown like, they end up cutting the electric to the building from the roof....
this sounds to extravagent for jusy thugs to pull off,
but it is fun to speculate.

^ people were talking about that a while ago, it's a great idea I hope it works out that way.

It's also hinted at in the sides. The goons at the bank robbery are talking about 'the boss' as if he isn't there, and then 'Grumpy' turns on Chuckles. Heath is wearing a grumpy mask in those set pics.

crap,
it has all ready been talked about.
im starting to sound like John Madden.
bursted my bubble.
oh well....

but i did see heath wearing that mask. his jacket looks the same but
his shirt does look a different color though, but its probably the lighting. since one is an official set still and one from a camera miles away and hes in direct sunlight.
sh** maybe swayze is underone of those masks.

Gotham City itself was surreal looking. There was no real city that looked like it. Once that film started you knew you were in for a gothic fantasy. It was the 80's man the decade of style over substance the whole purpose of the film and Burton's M.O. at the time was surreal visualism. Now anybody who cared enough about Batman outside the movie would make it their business to know what the deal is anyway.

Chances are anybody who goes off what the '89 movie stated doesn't care enough about the mythos in the first place to do their research so really who gives a damn what they think as long as you as a fan know the truth.

The only reason the chemical bath is highly regarded as canon by a lot of fans including Ed Brubaker who wrote it into his Man Who Laughs one shot is not cause of Burton's movies, it's not even cause of The Killing Joke. It's because of this comic right here

Had that issue never been published people wouldn't really be running with the idea for many decades after it's release. Mind you I don't care for a Joker origin myself I prefer an ambigious background I don't like when too much is spelled out for the audience. However to think that people just like the chem bath idea cause of Burton's film is a little silly. People just liked that idea because it's been the most consistently played with out of all the possible origins or perhaps because they want to come across as purists but not because they can't get over that movie from 18 years back.

Ummm.... B89 got the "chem bath" from the comics. Do you think Burton made it up or something? Burton and the screenwriter took it from TKJ (Alan Moore, in turn, just updated the origin as it was Pre-Crisis, anyway), which was considered the definitive Joker origin at the time, and is still considered by most to be his real origin, since TKJ isn't from his perspective, therefore, it's not "false."

DC is about to retcon it from what I understand, but the fact remains that your problem with it being in B89 is irrational. If you're going to complain about it, complain about it being canon in the comics in the first place, don't try and insinuate that it was something that Burton made up.

I swear, do people just assume Burton made everything up? People sure don't want to have to admit that he took his cues from a few different eras of the real comic material (For B89 at least).

First I have never stated that the chem bath started with 89, i was pointing out that there are some fans and outsides that consider that everything that happened in that film is cannon. I understand that that the joker was introduced in 1940 and a short 11 years pasted before his "origin" popped up...but that doesnt make it true. In other words that "chapter" could be false information. over the 11 years between 40 and 51 there have been many explanations to who and why this killer clown came from. but they made the 51 "chapter" such a big deal that many are over looking the fact, the notion that other origins have been placed before us before the chem bath.
And secondly (pant) secondly TKJ I would consider f.i. because on pg 6 he talks about how "money is not a problem these days.." then it flashes back to his past. that To Me is a memory. His crooked memory...all the shots with the "pre" Joker are flashbacks a la LOST. to the me Chembath is not true cannon his origins are unexplained and from now to forever no true answer will ever safice.

IMO

His memory is multiple choice. Even he no longer knows what his definitive origin is.

Best we never know. I like him mysterious. Cool idea in Morrissons Arkham when the therapist described him as not technically insane, then explains that he believes he is possesed by a voodoo demon.
Scary. Awsome.

^ 'he currently believes he is possessed by a voodoo demon', that was Morrison starting on his shifting personality idea. Which I quite like, it allows all his different incarnations and possible origins. Best not mentioned too often though or it becomes an excuse to do whatever you want with him.
