I actually watched the telecast in full this year, not too often that happens since it's such a long show, but I had time this year.
Heh, wasn't really surprised to see the Academy snub Scorcese and Leo again, it's almost like the Academy has something against both of them. I agree that Leo should branch out from all the Oscar-bait dramas though. Would be great to see him in a big blockbuster (especially while he's still young enough to play an action hero), even a CBM if he could be convinced for one.
I thought Ellen would be a great host but thought she was a let-down. I've seen her talkshow so I know how funny she can be, but she was just sort of flat at the Oscars. Probably would've added a lot if she'd had a co-host to play off of, as she's generally funnier when wisecracking about or with someone.
In any case, glad to see that McConaughey and Blanchett both won. I always figured that both of them would win an Oscar someday. Haven't seen either of their movies yet, definitely plan to when they're on Netflix.
Really not sure what was with all of the awards for Gravity. I mean, I was expecting the director win, and maybe the editing one too, but the cinematography, original score, sound editing, sound mixing, and visual effects? Totally didn't think it deserved those awards, could've gone to way better movies in each of those categories.
My favorite part of the show was definitely Amy Adams' sexy-dance in front of Pharrell.
And Chiwetel Ejiofor seriously needs to be cast as Black Panther stat! Holy crap there can't be a more-perfect actor for the role than him. Even his voice would be awesome as-is. Make it happen Marvel!
