The Dark Knight Rises A fan's experience on Rises set

I've worked as an extra on 4 movies and 5 television shows. From Disorderlies to Neccessary Roughness. Walker, Texas Ranger and Prison Break.

If your lucky you get 75 bucks if you turn in an invoice. At best you get a SAG ticket.

So who's telling the truth? My version of the story is that this is a load of bull.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

"Disorderlies" and "Necessary Roughness" are not as high profile as TDKR is. A confidentiality agreement would be the norm on such a movie now. I've been an extra on 5 films already including the 1st two Nolan Batman films. Those required confidentiality. Especially with TDK.

Payment varies but what I've received was roughly $100 per day for 12 hours of work. None of those times were we given anything like a "SAG ticket". SAG members are that before they get cast as extras. If an extra gets to say a line that isn't a member, they may give some sort of credit toward it.

Ive been on these forums for awhile but stuff likes this makes me distance myself
Stuff like what? This thread? The potential scene-ruining spoilers? The behaviour of the posters? I'm confused.

this thread is called a fan's EXPERIENCE on the Rises set, not a tell-all tale.

This was a guy who just put his name as an extra on a whim and out of nowhere, wound up in Batman. Just the mere fact of being filmed in Imax, seeing just how much work goes into about three scenes that took up most of the day. Seeing the way a real set had been constructed and also the amount of fun he had running about, was really what the thread was about.

How many genuine real fans of Batman get to be IN batman. Not talking casual, but the kind of guys who can't sleep before the first midnight showing of the film and get to the cinema hours before. It is a pretty rare thing. Trust me, he would want to give all the details about the scene and talk about what the scene could mean in the context of the movie.

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I've been an extra several times, including the first Spider-man film, the upcoming Clooney film Ides of March, and was a featured extra with a paycheck on Transformers Dark of the Moon - did a scene with Shia, Patrick, and Rosie. I didn't sign one confidentiality agreement, nor was it even mentioned.

Stuff like what? This thread?
Basically. Mostly topics and posts that have nothing new or exciting/interesting to say... Low quality topics and posts are over abundant. This topic was a huge letdown and none of the qualities i mentioned that make a good topic or post, were found in this thread.

QFT.

I dont see the need for this thread, truth. You couldve just commented in the info discussion thread. No offense, but if you were to make a thread about this, some good details would've been nice...especially with people salivating for some actual news.

All this thread is saying is....Nolan is funnier than he seems and anne hathaway is skinny in person.

So so far you have nothing to really tell us?

I have been a long time reader of this site, but never felt the need to post.

I think I can help answer some questions from this topic though.

I live in California, and spent about a year and a half making a living as an extra. I have appeared in dozens of television shows and movies, such as How I Met Your Mother, CSI New York, Numb3rs, Shark, Justice, Even Almighty, etc.... etc.... etc....

In California, there are 2 types of extras, non-union, and union. Non-union extras get paid 64/8 hours of work, with time and a half starting after hour 8.

Union extras make 130/8. Extras get paid for a minimum of 8 hours work every day they report to the set, regardless of how many hours they actually work.

They also will often feed you breakfast and lunch.

Confidentiality agreements are not the norm on sets, but they are used from time to time.

Transformers, and the HBO mini-series The Pacific are examples of productions that required extras to sign confidentiality agreements.

An extra is a paid employee of the film production for the day(s) they work, and has a certain duty like any other employee to maintain confidentiality if asked to do so.

The only time I ever saw a film set with non-paid extras was on The Comebacks, where they shipped in a couple hundred people from beinamovie.com or some other ripoff website like that, to fill in the seats of a football stadium. Not only did they not pay these poor people, but they didn't feed them either. Not sure how the production company get's around the labor laws in scenarios like this, but it doesn't seem right to me.

I can't speak for labor laws in the UK, but in the United States, people should not be doing extra work for free. People at a minimum should be getting paid minimum wage for their time and efforts.

In the UK you have background artistes and they get paid a daily wage. The agencies obviously take their percentage but the aim of the agency is finding these actors work that pays.

If you don't like this thread, then you shouldn't whine about it here. Just don't post and let it slowly sink down the board. Posting here will only bump the thread higher up. Besides the thread startered never claimed to have massive spoilers or anything. If did, it would be upon the News or Infohunters thread. Harrassing him just really isn't called for.

Thanks man. It's like guys don't read and just expect a guy who DID sign a NDA agreement as with other stuff he has worked on will just tell me spoilers knowing FULL WELL I will post them up on here.

It was about a BIG batman fan actually getting to be in a batman film which is always a nice thing to hear. And from what he's been telling me, it was a very lively scene and was a lot of fun and just from how it was filmed with the IMAX camera, if the scene does stay, it should look pretty good in the cinema.

He does say it took place in quite a big house/mansion that is NOT Wayne Manor.

He wint tell you spoilers because he knows youll post them here? Well you just ruined it for yourself then brother

You wanna know why this thread needs to be deleted?
Because it literally doesnt say anything and wastes space...post this junk in the info thread or something...your friend isnt telling you anything...so the whole fan experience thing isnt a spoiler so at least post in the non spoiler section...and we still cant tell if its the truth...either way its a lame topic true or not...congrats that your friend saw nolan and hathaway i guess...but if theres no pics or details then all it is is a waste.

I applaud your friends decision to maintain confidentiality. Its been said they could track you/him down if you talked...how would they go about doing that, exactly?

Ha! I worked on TROTF too lol Minor background military stuff. Was a hella fun couple of day! Couldn't make it to Edwards for DOTM though, but heard good things from a buddy that was there. Only other notable (if you can even call em that) were a few CSI Miami eps and that Mercy Reef/Aquaman pilot

But I digress, this thread is pointless. It's called a "fan's experience on Rises set" but the person who created it was neither on the set nor described anything vaguely legitimate about it. I call BS, the thread creator is merely looking to get a rise out of Batfans dying for info

Yeah, you can't track down person A by looking up person B's IP address. That makes no sense unless they share the same computer. Either way, I know how WB operates with information leaks. Unless you post copy-written material (WB owned images/artwork/video/call sheets, etc) they can't do a damned thing to you

Okay, I doubt WB would try to track him down. Instead, they'll just tell their casting director to never hire the guy that claimed he was a huge Batman fan.
