The Dark Knight Rises A Nostalgia Thread for The Dark Knight Trilogy

Guy Pearce popped up again fro TDKR and The Riddler. It's scary how many people want a Memento reunion :funny:

If that happens in the near future, that would be absolute bliss.

I remember how people were a little disappointed when Pearce wasn't cast as Dent. Even more sad was the fact that everybody wanted to see Begins' Finch (Larry Holden -- great guy, will miss him dearly) and Pearce go at it again, only this time during a courtroom scene for TDK.

"Who the f is Dodd?"

Oh god I had no idea that guy was in Memento!! And I've seen them both so many times...

There was a time when BOF had a different actor "rumored" to play Dent every week.
Heh I even remember a poll for wanting Cole Hauser as Harvey, I can see people right now googling his name at this moment.

And Bale's growly Batman didn't really get tons of negativity until TDK.

i wasn't around for Begins,or any of the hype/speculation with it,but certainly was for TDK and Rises! things i distinctly remember with some nostalgia:

-rumors that the Joker WOULDN'T be in TDK. that the card at the end of BB meant nothing, just a little teaser idea for some later movies.

-pics of Heath,on set, SANS makeup but with the green hair and full suit.

- people flipping after pics of Cillian Murphy on set in a parking garage leaked.

- the discussions/wars over whether the new Batsuit was good or crap.

- the speculation of whether Harvey would or wouldn't become Two-Face in TDK. because, you know,he was ONLY listed as Harvey Dent on the call sheets!

- when the 1st commercial that showed the sonar eyepieces in action premiered...boy,did THAT cause an uproar!

-the 3rd film would open with the Joker on trial, Dent as the prosecution, and him getting scarred during the trial, leading to Two-Face as the main villain of Batman 3.

- Philiph Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin in Batman 3!

- WB wanting Angelina Jolie as Catwoman and Johnny Depp as the Riddler in the 3rd film.

- Tom Hardy was playing Harvey Bullock, Killer Croc,Clayface, or Dr. Hugo Strange, depending on what week it was!

- the 3rd film would mostly take place in New Orleans, with the main love interest being Julie Madison, and actress, and the villain Clayface,a scarred actor who disguised himself with makeup and theatrics while being a serial killer.

Lt. Sarah Essen would be Gordon's partner in the 3rd film.

...LOTS of wild rumors floating about!! but,you know, that was part of the fun! because as much as you thought you knew, the "leaked info" would then take a wild turn into something else.

I remember when we saw candids of Hardy with a shaved head, everyone's like... "Hugo Strange!"

Cole Hauser. :lmao:

So true. I remember the very first clip from the movie was shown during Entertainment Tonight and we were are all going, "OMG! We're finally going to hear Batman speak!"

The immediate reaction was very positive.

What was the first clip?

What was the reaction to the first (leaked?) pic of Two-Face?

There was a lot of hype and fear over it. Everyone thought since it was Nolan it would be "toned down" and just be a freaky burned scar. Then a toy or something leaked and it wasn't an even 50/50 split, so people started thinking he wouldn't be very much burned at all. Then it leaked like a week or two or three before release and everyone was stunned at how detailed and gross it was.

That was pretty cool.

I really thought Jett did a great job with giving updates and such during the Begins days but somewhere down the line before, during, or after TDK, his pretentiousness and hypocrisy were becoming tiresome and unbearable.

I'm just glad someone like Chris B. had the kahunas to create and run a well-organized, good-looking site for fans who wanted to get their Batman fix on all things TDKR elsewhere other than falling prey to Batman-on-Film.

Yep. I remember being impressed by the site during BB. It was where I found my way round-about to the script. He did a good job of rallying hype. But after BB was released and Warner's started sending fans on wild viral goose chases, he no longer seemed very important. I think I haven't gone to that site enough to count on two hands since TDK trailers dropped. And those were truly awesome.

i remember Guy Pearce's name was thrown around a lot to play Bruce/Batma

there was even a rumor about Christopher Lloyd apparently playing Dr. Crane/Scarecrow because of Nolan having lunch with him, LOL

it was actually because of Batman Begins that i joined these boards, right when they announced Christian Bale would play Batman. good times!

Remember the Joker concept art?

Creepy **** right there. The concept artist must have been drawing inspiration from Leatherface on the second one.

I remember when the second theatrical trailer for TDK was released and started with Batman on the skyscraper in Hong Kong without his cape and almost everyone was convinced he would be without a cape for half the movie.

It might've even been it's own thread, but I definitely remember quotes like "Batman is not Batman without a cape. Period." and posting old comic panels from the 60's where Batman interchanges colored capes and such. Just goes to show how passionate fans we are I guess. haha

I also remember when Ain't It Cool News supposedly got a hold of a teaser poster for 'Batman Begins' that was just a close up of the chest of the classic comic suit that was obviously sewn and had the tagline,"Before the Knight, was the dawn." People immediately dismissed it simply because of it's typeface and because it was credited "A Chris Nolan Film" since he formally goes by 'Christopher.'

A few weeks before Batman Begins was to come out I remember two tracks off the soundtrack were released as a sampling of what was to be heard, Molossus and Corynorhinus.

Molossus especially gave me goosebumps as this was the main action theme and sounded totally different from the more fantasy operatic style of Danny Elfman.
