The thought crossed my mind, too, but I don't think it will turn out that way.

Assuming Ward is telling the truth, the implication is Garrett rescued Ward from his older brother that made him do bad things. But Ward is still broken from it, which is part of the reason he has no real qualms about killing people (damn, that "truth serum" scene from the first episode is going to feel really weird now).

So I'm going to stop rooting for them to include comic characters - especially any agent of SHIELD (if there are any left). They don't have a very high survival rate.

At first I thought we had seen her mom in another Marvel film already, because she has that stern attitude and mentioned her agency, but I just got it confused and realized she was the asian lady at the poker table for the big game in Casino Royale.

It sure would. The sneak peak photos from next week show coulson and skye escaping the bus from Deathlocke and Ward... So, perhaps she escapes gets recaptured and Phil get her out. So maybe no fancy powers until the finale.

I'm wondering if they're going to keep May on the fringe until next season. Bring her back it some badass way.

There have been literally dozens of deaths of characters and, of the examples you suggested, only one actually died. It's not accurate to say no one stays dead, it's accurate to say that anyone can come back from the dead. But that doesn't mean everyone will.

And both Hand and Koenig don't exactly have easily faked death scenes, so the Fury and Bucky route probably isn't likely (we already have Mike Peterson go that route, fwiw). I doubt they'll all go the Coulson route. The show's at least trying to establish that bringing people back from the dead is difficult.
