Supergirl All About The Ratings!!!!!! - Part 1

I think in terms of ratings, it's a good thing there are no World Series games on Mondays, so Supergirl is up against her usual foes (DWTS, Voice, Monday Night Football, CBS comedies, WWE Raw, etc.).

The fall classic, between The Astros and the Dodgers (by the way, Kelly I am #HoustonStrong), starts Tuesday. That means The Flash and Legends could lose in LA and Houston, two of the top ten TV markets with both Fox O&O's (KTTV 11 and KRIV 26) and Tribune-owned WB stations (KTLA 5 and KIAH 39).

OT: By the way Kelly, the last time the Astros were in the World Series, they were in the National League, losing to the Chicago White Sox in 2005 in 5 games. The last time the Dodgers were in the series...Melissa Benoist's birth year 1988. LA won over Oakland.

Supergirl was a 0.5/1.77 million this week. Almost unchanged from last week.

I'd like to add that people like my sister are catching up with Supergirl on Netflix (my sis is just now Catching up on S2); so this would mean overall overall viewership is so much more than whatever these ratings show.

Flash ticked up to a 1.0 this week despite going head to head with Game 1 of the World Series. Very strong performance.

Legends of Tomorrow was flat at a 0.5.

And since nobody mentioned it yesterday, both Lucifer (0.8) and the Gifted (1.0) were down a tenth versus last week.

Gifted is frankly starting to look pretty bad for a first-season decently hyped show. Hell, either Gotham or Lucifer could more-or-less match that rating in that timeslot.

Doesn't mean it doesn't get renewed, but still, yeah.

These aren't the final numbers, it is possible for a drop from being inflated by the world series....if Flash is able to sick with that number....GOOD FOR THEM....nice number. :)

Flash rarely adjusts down and I haven't heard of any preemptions that may have inflated the rating. Legend's half hours are 0.5/0.4 so we'll just have to see if the 0.5 holds at finals.

I suspect Flash upticked off good word of mouth from the season premiere. People heard that, hey, he's not moping now, and getting to do awesome stuff again.

Could be..... lol

Well, that is just something that we will never know.....the Nielsen families that I have known over the years are not into these kinds of shows. So who knows what they are thinking...I don't know that any around here are Nielsen people...

Live + 7 day increase for the Supergirl for October 9th
Live 0.5, +7 1.0, a 100% increase
Viewers, 1.867 million, +7 3.117 million, an increase of 1.250 million, 67%
So basically people are still watching Supergirl, just not the first day she airs.
This also doesn't include people who watch on the CW app.

Nice numbers....

I know most of my students watch on the app or DVR, they don't watch anything live...lol

This may be the most bizarre article I have posted here. But it has something to do with time and perhaps ratings...especially in Boston. According to NBC News, the commonwealth of Massachusetts is thinking about leaving the Eastern Time Zone and going to the Atlantic Time Zone which is one hour AHEAD of EST.

The state "could make a data-driven case for moving to the Atlantic Time Zone year-round," the commission said in a draft report released in September. A second draft will be put up for a final vote on Nov. 1, and the issue could then go to lawmakers, according to a spokesman for Eileen Donoghue, a Democratic state senator who chairs the panel.

The upshot: If the state joins Puerto Rico and eastern Canadian provinces in the Atlantic Time Zone, it would effectively run on an all-year daylight-saving time. In its draft report, the commission touted potential benefits of the change, from boosted consumer spending to lower rates of certain types of crime.

OK now who wouldn't want daylight savings time? My mom would. Of course there is a catch...

But there is some fine print. The report said Massachusetts should not act alone, or else it could disrupt "commerce, trade, interstate transportation and broadcasting" across the region. A majority of other states in New England would have to jump on the time-zone train, too.

Emphasis, mine

One problem...New England has six states (MA, CT, ME, NH, RI, VT). So if three say yes and that's it, then it's all is a moot point.

This could affect things in Boston, where the CW is seen on WLVI CW 56. If this goes through, then Supergirl would be seen at 9:00 PM instead of 8:00 PM. And since Boston is a major TV market it is sure to throw the ratings for a loop. Not to mention the craziness with the cable line-ups in neighboring states like New Hampshire and Vermont where some systems carry WLVI as the CW station. Also the minor Springfield market could be affected as CW is on a subchannel of WWLP 22.

Like I said this is very bizarre. Then again, this is New England where the weather changes on a dime.

0.5 for Supergirl last night
0.8 for Lucifer
1.1 for The Gifted

Possible series lows coming tonight for Flash and Legends. Huge World Series game plus Halloween doesn't bode well.

Yep...

Flash 0.9
LoT 0.4

But they will pick back up in the +3 and +7 without a doubt. :yay:

There's a chance Flash won't be CW's highest rated show this week. I haven't researched it, but I can't recall there being a week during the show's run that it wasn't at least tied for 1st, if not alone in first by a significant margin.

Riverdale will probably hold up much better against the World Series than Flash and Legends did, considering it skews heavily female. And Supernatural is still capable of putting up a 0.7 or higher.

I'm still a bit in shock over Riverdale's rise to the top of the CW crop, lol.

Yeah, I was really skeptical last year when WB signed a deal to develop more Archie properties and then the rumors of the upcoming Sabrina spinoff started to swirl. But the great word of mouth and the Netflix bump really seem to have proven it to be a wise decision after all.

Berlanti is quickly becoming a TV juggernaut. Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Titans, Riverdale, Sabrina, Blindspot, Deception (upcoming ABC show) on broadcast TV and three webseries on CW Seed. He basically owns the WB half of the CW and but also has a show on NBC and one coming to ABC.

I could see Riverdale at a 0.7 maybe.... but looking at the shows across the board, most shows have been slowly losing viewers and the ratings. Not just on the CW, but across the board....all networks. Nothing has really improved in ratings from last year, except for Riverdale, and again, that is across the board so they should REALLY be proud of that... NCIS has been fairly steady, but lower than last year...Law and Order SVU has been pretty steady, but lower than last year, NCIS New Orleans was really steady but dropped this week below 1.0, the Good Doctor was steady at 2.0, but it has even begun to drop. Viewer #'s have been dropping for most as well....
