What... did he say?

"I kinda came to the conclusion also that they couldn't really talk in their suits, um, with any credibility... more than 4 or 5 lines and you start to notice, like wait, these are two guys ... one guys dressed up like a bat and the other has a big red 'S' on his chest, and they're being super serious about how mad they are at each other..."

Explains why Cavill had so few Superman lines in MoS.

Yes, the officer would be justified if there is a reasonable threat. The man could have an angry look on his face, aggressive body language and pointing the knife. The officer in that scenario would be justified in using his firearm, by law.

That's inherently false and an oversimplification of the law. Sources please

Here's what I'm going to say.

If a guy is point a gun at you and your family, you want to downplay the situation. You don't want the situation to get raised where your wife and kid gets hurt. You want to play along to make sure nothing happens. If there is a moment where the mugger isn't focused, maybe try to disarm him. But you shouldn't start anything where your family could get harmed.

I don't disagree with this. But I disagree that a young Bruce would have blamed his dad for everything and decide not to hate criminals. Just the visceral experience he witnessed alone would be enough to motivate him and shape him.

Yep. Being passive compliant is the best action to take. It's been proven time and time again that statistically being an aggressor will do more harm than good.

That's a huge generalisation based on nothing. We could all say that but apart from being in that situation we don't know ****.

I really don't see the problem with this, we've seen the version where Thomas Wayne tries to calm everything. This is the version where he was like "**** this".

Wow. Wow. Can somebody put together a list of Snyderisms related to this movie?

Have you been in that situation?

It can work BOTH ways. In BB and Burton's Batman the Waynes give over freely...and get shot anyway !

There is no one answer to this. You can not predict the intentions/reaction of a criminal.

I think in this version, they wanted to show that papa Wayne had some moxi which is where Bruce gets it from...

And that doesn't sound ridiculous to you as a character and as a motivation? The Wayne tragedy... a guy saying "F**k this".

Has Snyder's Thomas seen B89 and BB?

He's not basing it on nothing, it's based on lots of previous information from these cases. The victim getting aggressive is unusual behavior. Not because it's stupid to get aggressive (it is, but logical thinking isn't what decides everything in a stressed situation) but because attacking a man with a deadly weapon seems like a very unsafe and dangerous thing to do.

If it was common for people to get aggressive then we wouldn't have much mugging in the form we have now. We'd see a much larger shift to more downright attacks where people get robbed after they are physically dealt with.

No its not if an officer is under reasonable threat from an individual with a lethal weapon.

My sources are your lack of sources.

Anyways bud, I feel like its getting a bit personal now with our little back and forth, we're off topic and mods probably are very close to deleting all this. Without sources we're just going in circles so I'll be the bigger man this time and back out of this repetitive conversation we're having.

Yep. The facts are there. Denying them is tough

I think Snyder... who does not articulate well in interviews, was referring to long conversations like in Superhero Cafe, where if they just stand around in costume chatting it up, it looks kind of ridiculous in live action. Even Chris Reeve looks "out of place" standing around chatting. Unless he is doing something heroic, Superman looks like a guy in a funny looking costume...which is why he don't hang around after the save to talk to people, he zooms off all cool like.

Batman too. Batman, going in to a 7-11 to get a cup of coffee in a ANY of the suits we have seen would look laughable. It only "works" at night-in the dark and in small doses.

That said, I do think there was some time and places where a few lines "could have been" exchanges to lighten the mood.
