BvS All Things Batman v Superman: An Open Discussion (TAG SPOILERS) - Part 302

So let me get this all straight...Flash's director bolted and Aquaman's is about to get swept up into the tide and float away (see what I did there?). How can anyone deny that DC is in full blown panic mode? If JL does not land in a huge way (and make no mistake, BvS hurt the odds of that happening, badly) we are not going to see JL2. This entire cinematic universe, with the exception of Batman is on the verge of getting scrapped. Thanks Zack.

The Aquaman thing is just a rumor. It isn't definite.

I'm willing to give Faraci the benefit of the doubt that he had some genuine inside information given how accurate his info about BvS ended up being.

Which is why I'm happy to be a Batfan.

No matter which way the DCEU goes, we're probably getting a Ben Affleck-directed Batman film and a Lego Batflick.

I'll be happy about it if Affleck actually gives us a decent Batman, different from whatever the hell it was Snyder was doing. Call it a prequel, call it a soft reboot, call it a standalone, but get it away from Snyder's ********, and restore Batman to what he should be. Then I'll be happy - and so will most other bat fans.

I trust Affleck when it comes to his directing. I feel like he's a good enough storyteller to turn things around.

And after the reaction to BvS, I'm sure he'll be even more determined to have his Batman star in a better received film.

I think the third time's the charm. I can't wait for Batfleck's solo film!

Let's hope so. He needs to do an awful lot of work to distance his Batman from how the character's depicted in BvS. Hopefully he can learn the lessons, and give us something closer to the comics. His Batman looks right, he now needs to make him act and behave right.

My fear however, is that his Batman is tarnished now. That as far as the audience is concerned he's damaged goods - a morose, hard-drinking murderer who was too stupid to realise Superman was a good guy until he found out they had the same mother's name.

It would almost be a good idea - if the DCEU falls apart - for Affleck to direct a Batman movie starring a different man as the character.

You know what, Affleck as Wrath would be cool in a reboot. I'd just like an unknown with a voice like Conroy as Batman.

But if not a reboot, maybe a retcon. Make Batman V Superman and Justice League one giant dream sequence-an alternate universe where Batman has gone nuts. Make that what he's afraid of becoming.

Cake and eat it.

They should keep the number of female superheroines on screen small. Otherwise we'll end up with something super PC and forced.

My head hurts.

C'mon. Black Widow, Agent Carter, Lady Sif, Gamora and Scarlett Witch have been fantastic. Wanda especially is apparently really good in Winter Soldier.

And we know Captain Marvel and Wasp will be well done.

Marvel does a good job putting their badass women on the MCU TV shows instead; Mockingbird, Elektra, Agent May, Quake, Carter etc.. Which is a smart move because TV is becoming an outlet for women primarily. So they get their fair representation.

Boy if you don't...

I actually think Affleck's Batman will be given a fair shot by the GA given that he's received the most positive reaction and has demonstrated he can do the part well, even if the version in BvS was problematic. If he improves on the part in his solo film I doubt many people will complain. Then again, if he's still problematic in JL , then that may be a bit more of a hurtle to overcome.

I think the characters who are tarnished pretty badly are Cavill's Superman and Eisenberg's Lex. I doubt those versions of the characters are appealing enough to get most people hyped for another solo Superman film.

I don't see any downside to any company adding more female heroes if they're good.

It doesn't make sense.

They're half the population and 40% of Marvel's audience. I say bring on the female led superhero movies.

Are you ****ing serious right now?

So as a woman, I shouldn't want to be represented on the screen by a kickass female superhero? No Captain Marvel, no Wonder Woman, no Black Widow, no Catwoman, no Supergirl, no Birds of Prey films? Why keep them small? You did some pretty big backtracking, but wow to your original statement, just wow.

Okay that's over with...

I just hope Ben does his research with the character. I think with BvS, he simply read the script, some Miller, talked with Zack and tried to do something different.

He needs to bring it back to basics. I trust him both as an actor and as a director, but he needs to nail the characterization/his interpretation for the solo film.

If by "PC and forced" you mean, "more representative of the actual population of the world" then yeah, ITA. :o

Bring on the female heroes, please.

A lot of things in this section end up making me roll my eyes, but I think we hit a new low here today. :o
