It was both of theirs. They were bouncing ideas off each other for TDKR when they started conceptualizing Superman.

You just said it was all Nolan.

It was Goyer's idea. Nolan helped him pitch it to the studio. He may have helped Goyer refine it, but the credit for the idea itself should go to Goyer.

Snyder could have easily been told to direct it this way.

You have no way to know that.

I swear that sometimes people completely forget about Dawn of the Dead.

Actually Nolan has made it known time and time again that this is David's story. David presented this take on Superman to him. He even said he decided to try and get this off the ground as a favor for David who was such a help to him in getting Batman off the ground. You are giving Nolan far too much credit for this. Or are you saying that everything Nolan said is a lie. Are you claiming that The Nolan is a liar??? :wow:

And Watchmen. 300 looked like that to make it look like the book, Sucker Punch looked like that because it's Zack's idea and he can do what he wants with it.

You both missed the point entirely.

You claimed it was Snyder's decision to ground MoS in reality Nolan-style.

It was really Goyer and Nolan who conceptualized it.

The whole point is that Nolan did have a huge influence in shaping what MoS turned out to be and will probably get a lot of credit for it.

Yeah, always not sometimes it seems. I think that's actually my favorite Snyder movie. I was putt off by the idea of watching people in a mall hiding from Zombies (I hate Zombies) for close to two hours. But It was surprisingly engaging, with good character development, visually appealing (but, hey, surprise surprise, ´´grounded and realistic``), just a great movie really. It's on par with something like Nolan's Insomnia, in terms of quality.

Sucker Punch, as awful as it is storywise, has still some beautiful visuals, and the action scenes are creative and great.

New Superman animated movie?
There wasn't a Castle panel at Comic-Con this year, but that didn't stop self-proclaimed fangirl Molly Quinn (Alexis) from heading down to San Diego for the geek fest. And she couldn't contain her excitement over a new project that will endear her even more to future Con crowds: The 18-year-old actress is voicing the role of Supergirl in an upcoming animated project based on a popular DC Comics storyline. "I'm so excited to be a part of the DC family, not to mention helping Superman fight crime," Quinn told TV Guide Magazine. "Yes, I am a supergirl!"

The as-yet-untitled project, the latest in a successful series of DVD movies from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, adapts a 2008 story by Geoff Johns featuring Superman's nemesis Brainiac and the bottle city of Kandor, which survived the destruction of Krypton, Superman's home planet.

Quinn was at Comic-Con to support costar Nathan Fillion, who appeared on Firefly's 10th anniversary panel (not to mention TV Guide Magazine's Fan Favorites event). "I'm thrilled about our 'Super' project," she said of the movie, which will be released in 2013. "And that my character happens to be named Supergirl? Well, that's just a bonus."

You both missed the point entirely.

Uh huh.

You claimed it was Snyder's decision to ground MoS in reality...

I believe it was, yes.

Nolan-style.

What does that even mean?

It was really Goyer and Nolan who conceptualized it.

It was actually just Goyer.

The whole point is that Nolan did have a huge influence in shaping what MoS turned out to be...

As much as any producer.

...and will probably get a lot of credit for it.

As much as any producer should.

How could it be Snyder's decision to ground MoS in reality when the 'real world' concept was crafted by Goyer and Nolan before Zach was even brought on board...

Goyer didn't conceptualize and develop the approach and story for MoS alone. Nolan assisted.

Goyer is a mediocre writer: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0333060/#Writer

The only good pitches and screenplays he's developed have been under Nolan's guidances or with Nolan's help.

How could it be Snyder's decision to ground MoS in reality...

What I said was it was Snyder's decision not to film MOS in his usual style.

Goyer didn't conceptualize and develop the approach and story for MoS alone.

This is the story we've heard over and over again: Goyer had an idea. Nolan thought it was cool. Nolan helped him pitch it to WB.

Are you calling Nolan a liar?

What I said was it was Snyder's decision not to film MOS in his usual style.

It's not like he had another option either way. The approach was already conceptualized as grounded in gritty reality.

Nolan refined Goyer's work. They both contributed to developing it. The trades mentioned this years ago when the project was announced. This is why Chris Nolan has an official 'Story Credit' on the film as a writer.

A new Superman animated movie?? With Supergirl??

Yeah its based on the Superman Brainiac story arc by Geoff Johns. Ever read it? If not you should its fantastic.

no, I haven't.

how big a role does Supergirl have in it?

People will do anything to avoid giving Snyder any credit. It's ridiculous.

They both contributed to developing it.

Nolan's the producer. He developed the film in other ways. He pitched the idea to WB and he hired Snyder.

He said the idea for the story came from Goyer. Just Goyer. You're so caught up in Nolan you ignore anything that even implies someone else had a hand in making MOS a quality picture.

There's no point arguing with you. I'm done.

I recall someone, sometime last year, made a similar statement/prediction that seemed sad & likely... That, should the film, succeed, most fans will credit Nolan, but should the film fail, the same fans will blame Snyder almost exclusively.

I can easily see that happening. :whatever:

Like I said, Chris Nolan did work on the writing and conceptualizing aspect with David.

Hence why Chris Nolan is officially given 'Story Credit' as one of the film's writers.

Honestly, I’m just thankful that we’re even getting another Superman movie. I remember that long dull period between 2007 till 2010 where it felt like the Superman franchise was going nowhere; from wondering if a sequel to SR would come out, to hearing that they were rebooting it and trying to find people to give them pitches.

This may be asking for much but given the level of people involved with this project, I’m kind of hoping that this film ends up being received as the best origin story for a superhero yet on the big screen
