All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - Part 13

Just speculation on my part. :cwink: The article is called “Heaven Above, Earth Below” - which is slightly odd for a typical “mysterious illness” story (say, abnormally high rates of cancer near a factory or some such). Plus - there’s a photo of a hand holding a black substance. (Black meteorite? Black kryptonite? Black Zone? Black Zero? :woot:)

:funny: It could be anything!

I kind of hope it's not a 'metorites make people sick' plot tho, cause Smallville did that to death.

I think you forgot this one.

Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level (most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.
The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.
The longer clip was even more stunning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank. Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod [played by Michael Shannon] sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even.Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian “Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?” Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, “Who are you?” (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire. Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman ,then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach. The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

Ooooh yeah, good catch :)

Looks like someone can add ability to recap to her special skills. ;):p

I can recap all the hot scoops! :p

HOT SCOOPS! :wow:

If it serves the story, I’m okay with the theft of (good) ideas from a variety of sources. :word:

We know that Lois shows up in Smallville. Now, is she there because there’s a big Superman/Zod/military throw-down? Or does she visit before this happens? If the latter, there needs to be a reason. So an initial inquiry into a mysterious illness (by meteor?) might be the pretext. This then inspires a broader investigation of strange goings-on in Smallville - and, in turn, puts Lois on Clark’s trail. (She appears to follow Clark up to Alaska.) It’s a fairly neat way to showcase Lois’s reporting skills and get her into the narrative prior to Superman’s first appearance.

(Needless to say, many assumptions and guesses in the above. :cwink:)

...anybody ever ask about this image which seems to reveal a lot about Superman.

Truth, Justice and the American way!

Truth: He lies about who he is all the time.

Justice: He is Hitching! Breaking the law... not to mention Speeding and careless disregard for personal property.

The American Way: He is obviously living in the Artic! May as well have a Maple leaf on his chest...

I read on Wikipedia. In some incarnations faora has the ability to disrupt molecular bonds and she can create a mutagenic virus that's highly toxic. They say it was the linchpin of Zod's plan.I bet the mysterious illness in mos come from faora.

Truth: He IS Clark, Superman is what he can do.

Justice: He is thumbing up someone who DIDN'T stop for him.

The American Way: He's a missionary.

Fixed :woot:

Do we have confirmation Lois is in Alaska? Because I've heard about her being in the oil rig. Is that in Alaska?

I have the same worry-I hope Jorel is not giving Clark some prophecy crap in this movie because Im tired of that.Supes should be supes out of choice not because of a prophecy.

I get what youre saying but i honestly cant see how that wld Clark obtain a capeless suit from the fort and then choose to have his baby blanklet added as a cape. Why?Its established Kryptonians wear capes,so the Super suit should already have it-and if it doest I cant see why clark wld choose to add it especially using his blanky.

Didn't Jor el's suit, as well as Foara have a cape?

Nice::oldrazz:
my turn...

Truth: He is deceiving everyone by not revealing his true identity. To deceive is to lie which is the opposite of Truth.

Justice: He is Hitching which is the crime. Not being successful is just lame!

The American way. Missionary...His sexual habits are none of my concern.

:cwink:

But for real.

Is this scene of Clark hitching because he refuses to "fly" and use his powers, or ala Donner, he hasn't gotten his wings yet?

Jor el's costume has a cape, but a more Romanesque type attached to the armored suit.

Foara has a black cape as well but not like Superman's.

As far as I can tell...

...some sort of Kryptonian STD?

Zod's "World Domination complex" - better known on earth as 'sexual frustration release mechanism'...

I would care but I'm incapable of emotion.

If any hope of a Justice League movie, I'd kick-start with Man of Steel. Without it, they'll have to wait until the next reboot or just include their own Superman. Iron Man was a great start for Marvel's puzzle. Superman is the ultimate start for DC.

Well, in the new Superman comics reboot, Clark Kent finds a Kryptonian suit inside Brainyac's ship which is not in familiar colors and is made of nano tech and is without cape.

The Cape is separate

The movie may take a different approach, we will just have to wait and watch.
