I don't think it really fits Nolan's style as a director, and I think he understands that based on what he's said in interviews. If he continues with this franchise he'll just stay on as a producer.

Good points; but it doesn't hurt to wonder (even though it's very unlikely.lol) I mean with the amount of directors that have changed for comic book franchises these days, one can never be too sure anymore as to whether a director will return to direct the sequel.

I'm liking the idea that they are using the classic S to promote this film. It's the second time we see it.

on Checking, I see the Superboy series \S/ is a tiny bit different near the bottom of the \S/. oh, and the Costume Dean Cain wears in the pilot of L&C is soooo much better than the one featured in the series.

How did GL try to hard, quiet the opposite. It played the safe and cliché angle quiet well.

That's what we ended up with in theaters. A part of me wants to believe that an un-****ed-with version exists inside the WB vault.

Actually, the classic shield was used in the 1st season of Superboy too, it didn't look exactly the same as later seasons, but it was the same design.....

...the one worn by John Haymes Newton in s1 is a bit smaller and thicker than the one on Gerard Christopher in the later seasons. I think the reason why the same standard symbol is often seen in thicker and thinner versions is because the licensing/merchandising S often has black outlines inside the shield and when certain adaptations remove them, sometimes they turn the outlines red(making it look thicker), and sometimes yellow(making it look thinner). To illustrate.....

I just took the standard symbol, and used a paint program to turn the outlines red & yellow, respectively, and they more or less line up w/the 2 Superboy versions. I personally like the thinner one a little better, I still think Gerard Christopher has had the best live-action S-shield. Turn that same design into a slightly raised layer on top of the bodysuit for the new film and it'd look great IMO.

p.s. Just a little trivia......the Superboy suits used the standard symbol on the chest, but they had the Chris Reeve version on their capes.

Logic says they wouldn't use a different \S/, but since this is hollywood, you can throw logic out the window.

I think using the classic 'S' but in the dark, one colour kind of way they seem to be, is exactly the kind of thing they'd do. Obviously not for the suit, but for the posters.

And I love it personally.

Great little article on Superman's legal status. Guys their will be a settlement I think. Both parties are just dragging this out to the last minute to get a sweeter deal.

The article makes it sound like DC's effort with the reboot to make a distinct Superman from the heirs version won't work.

Jeff indicates the best bet for WB/DC, assuming no settlement, will be to appeal to higher Courts and have the 2008 decision overturned. As I've said all along this is going to the SCOTUS and Jeff indirectly confirm that. But that could take a decade to finally resolve.

The other thing that is clear is that legal wrangling of all sorts will kick in after the termination. WB/DC suing whatever company the heirs get to print their version of Superman and the reverse will hold true. The heirs will sue DC's right to use the rebooted Superman.

A legal mess which, IMO, will freeze any use of Superman by anyone for years to comes after 2013.

The article is very sobering and has huge implication for MOS.

Just out of curiosity; assuming that MOS does extremely well at the box office and is received wholeheartedly by a majority of the fans/GA, which then results in a sequel be on the way....How would you guys feel if Snyder didn't return for the sequel, and if someone, like Chris Nolan himself took over the directing helms?

if Snyder would made a good movie then of course i would be sad if he wouldnt return.but if Snyder wouldnt return after MOS was good received by fans,critics and public then there would mean that something bad happened between WB and him. so it would be better for everyone. a director shouldnt make a movie only because hes forced or money or because of the contract. Iron Man 2 and Favraue.

a Nolan Superman movie would be interesting. like a Burton Superman movie would be interesting. i dont think it would be a good sueprman movie .

I just figured that given that in my recent comic book memory has her being closely affiliated with Zod (whether it be his right hand woman, or lover, or wife), that they'd most likely go that route.

Speaking of which, after all of this talks about how awesome it's going to be seeing Superman and Zod duke it out, I haven't seen much talks about how it'll look when Superman will have to go up against Faora, perhaps that only woman that really kicked his ass in the comics.lol

it's still a mega hit. because people got the herd behaviour, they will eagerly go and watch it regardless. just like pirates series.

i hope MOS can make the people do the same.
