Can you talk about your decision to not include Lex Luthor in Man of Steel?

Goyer: I don’t think anyone has ever confirmed that we haven’t included him.

Here's hoping this means they HAVE at least alluded to him in the film :)

Rich Cerrone is the actor listed on the leaked call sheet. I guess you can say he's a b-list or c-list actor.

In terms of the interview, at least the guy tried to ask him a few different questions other than how did you come up with the story which has been asked to death.

Surely. I'm still surprised they didn't go for the obvious plug with those 'Rebuilding Metropolis' banners that must be after Zod and Black Zero make a mess of the city. Why not have referenced Lexcorp as a contractor on there? Maybe they're going for the more scientific weapons developer Lex.

pretty sure best way to go is have trailer attached to a oblivion which comes out april 19th a big budget sci fi blockbuster starring tom cruise good movie to attach it to

Oh really? Interesting. Weird that they went with a no-name for what is probably at least an important part. Being 1 of the 4 surviving Kryptonians (unless of course the Black Zero is full of Kryptonian prisoners).

Tor-An may not have a lot of lines. He may just be a physical threat. In that case you don't need a high profile actor.

The guy that played Non in Superman II was not a big name. He was a former boxer.

I think the Lex allusion will be something similar to that Joker card in Batman Begins. Which I'm fine with. I know fans are sick of Lex Luthor being the villain in every movie, but you can't have Superman without Lex. That being said, I hope they introduce villains like Brainiac in the sequel (if there is one), and keep Superman invested with villains that can push him over the edge in more than one ways.

An even better way is to debut it online April 4th-8th and have it play during the NCAA championship games and if not then definitely have a shorter version for MTV movie awards and then debuting it theatrically with Oblivion. Or maybe they'll put it on 42 already who knows.

Perry: "What about escalation?"

Superman: "Escalation?"

Perry: "Take this guy for instance..."

[Shows some bald guy]

Superman: "I'll look into it"

Yeah. I would debut it online first and then stick it to whatever you want.

This makes me remember a theory I have that Superman reaching out from the skulls (from the Con trailer) may just be the dead inmates of Black Zero. I know some think it may be a dream sequence but just from the tone of the trailers I can't see a dream sequence fitting in.

Yes, I really want to know what is going on in that scene. We need an HD still of it in the next trailer.

Superman builds a throne in the Fortress made from the skulls of all the people he's killed over the years.
That's what's different about Nolan & Goyer's darker take.

When did Nolan & Goyer said their take is darker? :whatever:

They didn't necessarily say it was a darker take on the character. In fact they said the character is about hope.. that being said, we're talking about a shot of Superman in a pile of skulls. That's significantly darker than anything in the previous movies. And this is supposed to take place in the real world, a significantly darker place than what was shown in the previous movies.

I want this movie to have a Spiderman 2 or BB tone. Good mix of comedy and seriousness. Or in non Superhero movie tones, I would say Star Trek 09.
