Btw it's funny how the critics on rottentomatoes gave SR a 76% but the fans really seemed to dislike it more at 67%. Ironman 2 for example had 75% from critics but 80% from fans (I thought Ironman 2 was more underwhelming than SR myself meh)

Compared to the first SR TV Spot..the SR spot did technically have more new footage to show (since it was the first bit of new footage shown after the release of the first theatrical trailer)

Superman Returns went into overdrive. They hadn't released much, and then just started dropping stuff like crazy, almost like they were trying to save it.

I couldn't go into a store without seeing tons of SR merchandise a couple months before release.

...and just as I complain :funny: .....not the greatest they could do with the TV spot, but I'm happy that their FINALLY!! doing something :)

I am talking footage. If I remember correctly, they released a third, maybe even a fourth trailer not too far out.

As long as MOS lives up to the trailer, fans will be happy. Like SR or not, the main trailer was fantastic.

A tv spot has to trend to make people happy now?Sad.The trailer did trend on twitter back in dec when it was released.

What? Nobody was saying that. It's a tool to gauge public response. Hi.

I'm glad that it seems that the marketing machine is finally starting to get moving, but the new Tv spot was completely wrong for its audience. I'm reminded of the discussion about Peggy's SuperBowl spot on Mad Men last night. If your audience is a bunch of drunken men at home or in bars watching sports, you need something loud or funny to catch their attentions. Otherwise, they will probably take the commercial break as an opportunity to talk with their friends. (see Dark Knight's comments about lack of reaction in the bar he was in)
Props to you for watching my fav show! :)

Anyway I think you make a legit point about whether that was the right ad to air during the game.

I am done criticizing the marketing. There is no real point to it, and it is just souring my mood for no reason.

But I think the point tonight was about quality. That it was a retread of a trailer that is 4 months old.
Don't feel that bad about it. I think you and others have a legit point. I still think that it is awesome that WB finally showed that they remembered their film but I have no problem talking about the quality of the spot and questioning whether or not it fit.

I just realized I was getting worked up for no real reason. I am just going to enjoy the ride at this point. Seeing a Superman tv spot tonight was surreal, in a very good way.

I saw new TV spot on my twitter feed and was naive enough to think it'd be a juicy action scene. Back to bed...

When I read comments like these on Twitter, I smile with hope.
@Jeebs_94: I'm not a fan of superman at all, but the Man of Steel movie looks badassss and i can already tell its a guaranteed good movie

Actually, there's one new shot. It's when Clark says "Where do I come from?" You can see his head tilt upwards.

That's new.

Pfft... Who doesn't watch Mad Men. :oldrazz: I'm in the middle of studying for my last set of law school exams and I was going through last year's Corporate Law exam questions for review and the fact pattern for the questions about partnerships was about Sterling Cooper Draper Price.

If Man of Steel is popular enough, I bet there will be some fact patterns based on something in the movie next year.

That is so cool.

I can't believe they released a synopsis with no mention of their lead actor's name. I mean, I know Henry's resume isn't as impressive as many of the other cast members but... they put friggin' Antje Traue's name in there! He's got to be more well-known in the States than her. Hell, I still don't have a clue as to how you pronounce her name.

(sigh) Good to see that WB's marketing department still finds new and interesting ways to get things wrong.

I was thinking the same thing, Antje isn't as well known as Cavill (maybe in germany, but not North America) and she's there.....what the hell :funny:
