All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - - - - - Part 47

So now I've had some time to re watch it a ridiculous amount of time, fully digest it and figure out how I feel about it, here's a summation of my reaction;

My reaction:

Was already kind of sobbing in anticipation. Cried during the first 10 viewings, then had to go to bed and get up really early for work (so little sleep I slept through my alarm and was late :( !). Have watched it during my lunch break on repeat and everytime I went to the bathroom today :hehe:

I absolutely love it. It is everything I ever wanted it to be :)

The score is fantastic. The emotional piano piece at the beginning goes so well with the beautiful visuals and heart felt goodbye, and then when it kicks in it has a really epic, inspiring vibe that feels absolutely right for Superman.

There is nothing about the trailer I don't love.

The look of Krypton. Russel Crowe's delivery and his simple line 'How'. The exchange between JK and CK (which reminds me of a similar exchange from Secret Origins that David Goyer said inspired him when writing the film), the shots of the fortress, Lois's line about him being a guardian angel, Clark ushering people to safety while chaos rains down around them, coming out of the FOS in the suit, Jor-el's line (from All Star Superman) again, mouth watering action shots that refuse to give anything away in time to adrenaline building drum beats, Zod screaming like a badass, a quick glimpse of Lexcorp in the Metropolis skyline, a gorgeous shot of the cape in motion, Superspeeding away from gunfire, shirtless hairy Clark (yum), close up shots of Supes flying, a great look at the chemistry and unspoken attraction between Lois and Supes, the line about the 's' being a symbol for hope (taken from Birthright), Superman smiling, a bit of light tongue in cheek humour by only teasing the name Superman...

And finally, a frustratingly small clip of what could very well be a fight scene like nothing we have ever seen before! (I mean, have we ever seen a superspeed, in flight punch up before?)

Did I miss anything?

Seriously, we couldn't have asked for a better trailer as fans.

I just have zero clue how the GA will see it!

Anybody else think that monologue by Lois in the trailer will be a narratin at the end of the movie culminating in Clark walking into the elevator as the doors close and she finishes it using the word Superman?

I hope so, not getting my hopes up. But, it would be perfection. start with jor-el prologue speech and end with this Lois speech.

I was thinking similar to when commissioner Gordon said his words as batman rode off

"I wanted the movie to be a big movie-going experience, full of action, full of emotion and full of the biggest super hero in the world. I wanted to give to the cinemas of the world a big, giant 'movie' movie. I've been a big fan of the character my whole life. He is the greatest super hero. There's no competition between super heroes, but if there was, he'd win."

This fills me with tremendous joy. He went into my brain, found out exactly what I wanted and proceeded to put it on film.

Well, I wanted a glimpse of heat vision (because now I am getting conspiracy theories in my head that the EW article was a set-up lie and we won't see it.:csad: :woot:) and I wanted the my son was in the bus scene replaced with something else. And maybe some of the old shots from different angles instead of just repeated. But that's just 3 small nitpicks from my part! :woot:

Based on what I'm seeing the vast majority loves it. Quite a bit more than the last trailer too! :yay:

oh come on. the city battle in II rules.

just watched the city battle yesterday and I can't get over how bad it looks when Superman gives his famous Chuck Norris kick! I laugh every dang time. still good for that time, and when I was younger I was so :wow:!

Action certainly is ramped up.... however.....not unexpected, tho still disappointed ..... MOS will carry on with a Superman weighted done with a pseudo-religious "destiny" to be Earth's saviour.

There is no destiny here. It is a clear choice.

I've read that claim a lot, too. So far, they've all been baseless claims. Is your source any different?

I thought Zimmer himself tweeted and confirmed it was his score?

Y'know seeing a pure-evil screaming villain like Zod is really refreshing actually. The whole 'slimy calculating' villain thing is starting to get very old.

I do!

I feel like Lois will start to call him that in the interview room and get cut off (maybe with the news that Zod has arrived).

Then at the end of the film she will give him the name "Superman" in her news article, which she will narrate in voiceover as the film closes. "To some he was just a ghost who never fit in... now we know him as Superman. The Man of Steel." Or something. Then credits.
