Saw Trailer 2 in 3D with Jurassic Park with a pretty large crowd, I heard a few "wow" and "That looks really good".

When I saw Oblivion tonight, ALL the trailers were the most recent versions for their movies EXCEPT the MoS one. I was annoyed, lol.

Trailer 3 breaks out this weekend,
It will be interesting to hear crowd reactions.

I am not looking forward to Arkham Origins. Firstly, it is being made by a different studio! Big red alarm there. Secondly, I usually groan at anything involving "origins" (except this film, honest!). It smells a lot like a cheap money grab. I DO NOT want the Arkham franchise to turn into the next Ass Creed, where they release increasingly lower quality titles every year.

The problem is not just that it is being made by a different studio, but that it is essentially an internal studio founded by Warner Bros. to turn out Arkham series content. That is definitely not a good sign. Essentially, the series has gone from a Nolan-Batfilm situation, where the creatives involved were given carte blanche to pursue their own creative vision, to a Marvel Studios situation where everything is controlled by the publisher/studio. :csad:

At best, we are in a Halo 4 type of situation where the team continuing the series are highly technically competent and have tons of budget, but lack the the artistic talent of their predecessors. Here's hoping that Rocksteady's departure from the Arkham series maybe means that they are now working on an original Superman game. They are partly owned by Warner Bros after all. :woot:

That happens to me all of the time and it IS annoying!
I only mildly enjoyed the movie too. Funny thing is, someone else wants me to go see it in IMAX with them tomorrow, and I'm seriously thinking about going again just for better chances of seeing the correct MoS trailer, lol. Yes, I'm obsessed. But at least Oblivion's visuals and music make a good argument for an IMAX viewing... *continues trying to rationalize to self*

Let's hope in this case the developer is the equivalent of Shane Black or Joss Whedon, not Louis Leterrier.

Halo 4 lacks the artistic direction of the original Halo trilogy? What?

343 studios actually gave us Halo fans a gripping and emotional plot (an area that Bungie failed in for years).

Who is Kurosawa ?

His style was confrontational, but honestly, out of everyone of this board, he was one of the guys whose views on Superman I respected the most.

He didn't like Post Crisis, but when he explained why, you could tell he actually read issues of post crisis Superman. When most post crisis Superman fans complain about Pre Crisis Supes, you can tell they never touched an issue of Superman before 1986.

It always seems to be a crap shoot when it comes to which movies get the old version of a movies trailer and which ones get the new version .

Afraid not. WB Montreal has no games to its credit. It's brand new. Arkham Origins is its first project. Granted, Rocksteady were really green when they made AA, but they were still independent at the time and were only partially bought by WB after AA's smash success. There is no way a new developer like WB Montreal has the experience, strength of character, or clout of someone like Whedon or Black needed to walk such a tight rope. The Whedons/Blacks of the video game industry typically form their own studios like Valve, Irrational Games, etc.

While they did try to bring more character devleopment into the story, unless you read the new tie-in novels, the plotline felt rough, disjointed and confusing. Major characters' motivations were only explained in terminals or those books rather than woven into the main narrative. Halo 4 is the most overrated game I have ever played. Furthermore, the uneven nature of the original Halo trilogy was due to the Bungie's creative exhaustion of being forced to become a Halo factory for a decade. Jason Jones and other Bungie greats passed the series off to others after being rushed into Halo 2, at which point they started working on Destiny.

EDIT:
They did the Armored Edition of AC.

True, but they split the work with WB Burbank and porting someone else' title to a different system with minor gameplay tweaks is far from the same thing as developing your own game from scratch.

It looks GREAT in 3D doesn't it! I don't know, I may have to check out MOS in 3D first on its opening night, which is something I haven't done since Avatar.

The ONLY thing I enjoyed about Halo 4 was how Superman eventually had to save the human race.

Oh wait, there was no Superman in Halo 4.

Therefore, there should be no Halo 4 in Superman.

:oldrazz::woot: *joke*

Well, that's your opinion, but Halo 4's plot and character development was lightyears superior to anything Bungie conjured up since Halo 2 (massive disappointment after massive disappointment). Hell, I'd argue that Halo: CE didn't feature anything memorable (story and character-wise). I feel The Halo franchise is in better hands with 343 than with Bungie.

My showing wasn't IMAX, which might have something to do with it (as they probably got specific instructions to put the new one on that IMAX release), but honestly, as a projectionist myself, I suspect it was probably a projectionist oversight. When we put together our trailer packs for the week, we're given specific lists of what goes on them, in what order. Those lists usually don't specify WHICH trailer for a certain movie to put on - just the name of the movie. It's just a given that we'd put the most recent version in our database on the pack. But it if the old trailer's still sitting there in our library (which it would be since the new one just came out)...it would be a pretty easy mistake to make. Still annoying though, lol.

You are probably right because Bungie was sick of making Halo games. However, my point was moreso that Halo only every became what it was in the first place because Bungie is a great, original developer with varied interests and original ideas. 343 is and wants to be a Halo factory, which means to a certain extent sticking to Bungie's original formula. There is little way for the studio to develop a unique creative vision or artistry.

but yes, Bren is right, time to get back to Superman. Like I said I hope Rocksteady is working on a Superman game now. After Arkham City was released, I believe that comments were made about them moving on to work with other Warner Bros licences.

Agreed. Kurosawa is a ''Superman encyclopedia''.
He liked the new trailer, btw.:word:

To be fair though, that's what Halo fanboys desire. They don't want 343 to 'bastardize' the franchise (which doesn't make sense to me) so they've stuck with the original formula. Now whether 343 will venture into ground-breaking territory for Halo 5 & 6 reminds to be seen but considering they're the more passionate Halo company, I feel safer with them at the helm to lead this franchise into the next era.

I'm glad.

For his sake (and mine), I hope Cavill's Superman has some of that Siegel/Shuster swagger that you saw in the Fleischer cartoons.
