Why do any of our opinions matter? She just likes to talk about this stuff same as us but prefers video blogs. Nobody's being forced to watch it.

Anyway she used to host a weekly video show for Marvel.

Yep.

She's also very Anti-Nolan.

Yep. I much as I dislike the destiny stuff, if they play that up, then it won't be a huge deal. I mean I like Smallville despite it's massive flaws.

Me too, although I hope it doesn't have quite as many flaws as Smallville did over it's 10 years :funny:

I'm not suprised you hear it too. I asked my 18 year old nephew about the film and he said it looks okay I guess but Superman has always been kinda lame.

Warners does have to make the character look cool to the general audience again because we haven't had a proper update.
MOS looks to be doing that by giving us an awesome (imho) updated live action costume, a bad ass Superman who punches things, a modern look (Returns largely featured the semi 30's look of the original films) and a new theme and no connection to the original films by way of CGI Brando or Krystal Kryptin.

It is genuinely worrying me that even if this movie is amazing with great action and a more in depth look at the worries and 'issues' the Man of Steel has to deal with... they'll still think he's 'lame'. Cause he stands for hope. And hope is just so lame. :whatever:

I don't really feel like watching that. What's the gist of her argument?
Basically saying that the film looks too dark and Nolan-ish and isn't her Superman. She doesn't like all the religious overtones (since they're overtones and not undertones) and doesn't like that the action is close up and looks like a third-person video game...which is funny because she's talking about basically one scene at the end of the trailer with Supes punching Zod.

I also take issue with her saying how this looks exactly like the TDK trilogy and is making Superman too much like Batman. I don't know how she comes to this conclusion besides jumping to it based off of the fact Nolan is producing and it doesn't look like a bright campy Superman flick.

Supes has had dark stories in the comics before. It is the character who is a beacon of light and hope and good, not the whole world / story / universe. So long as they get the characters right I don't care how dark the story feels.

+ 1

I like JJ Abrams but his flyby superman sucked. Just because a director is good doesn't mean they will knock it out the park everytime.

Some Superman fans already grumble about the changes made in Man Of Steel they would of had a field day with JJ Abrams version I imagine.

Like Darren Aronofsky Batman:Year One I think it would of been a bit controversial.
JJ is good? since when?

Yeah that was the problem with Superman Returns: it didn't convert the naysayer; it just reenforces their beliefs that Superman is lame/boring/whatever. I'm not saying that it should be contrieved, like Superman sporting a baseball cap, but relevant and universally appealing without losing his classiness. I hope MoS will deliever that, and it looks like it will.
Well yeah, I'm not asking for Poochie to show up and start rapping, I just want some updating of the material on the big screen.

I hated a lot of the changes Smallville made so I'm not an any change is a good change person. And I am leery about the destiny stuff in the trailer because I am sick of all encompensing jesus metaphores in the Superman film series. Hint at it but don't shove it down my throat.

Personally I felt the trailer evoked the imagery of Greek gods / mythology more than it did Jesus. It has that Greek epic sort of "You are born of the gods, now find / choose your destiny" schtick going. Along with the classic Greek struggle of half-god half-human characters struggling with their two heritages.

JJ is good? since when?

Since he took a franchise that was dead in the water and seen by everyone who doesn't regularly wear pointed ears as the lamest thing in the world and not only turned it into a moneymaker but also managed to make it cool.

Heeey, Peter Jackson made pointy ears cool long before JJ! :argh:

:o

You know, I agree with that. Jor-El says "he'll be a god to them" not "he'll be god" or "he'll be their savior."

Is it weird that I feel less confident about showing people the new trailer than I did the old one, even though I prefer it as a fan?

I'm just worried they will think that the Zod part, or the Supes/Lois dialogue are cheesy. I know I should just be proud of what I love, but I've seen that 'humouring me' look on so many of my friends faces before :(

I apologize for this post, it was rude and dismissive and I just got on Terry78's ass for being flat dismissive of my opinions. I wouldn't want to be a hypocrite.

I had to choose between this and the "Sully" one. This seemed more appropriate...today.

But it doesn't look cheesy in the slightest.

Again, it's the Superman branding that has a stigma and general misconception that are going against it. But when Junr hits, hopefully your friends will see the light.

You sound like you work for WB.:yay:

Don't feel insecure about what you find exciting or cool. If you show it to them and it isn't their cup of tea, oh well. Its okay to have differences of opinions amongst friends after all.

That was a great trailer.

I wouldn't be surprised if WB's and Snyder release another version in May.

Love the new music by Zimmer.

Seems like this film maybe Snyders finest.

I know 12 people who have seen the new trailer and they all like it. They can't wait for the movie. Most stated that they can't wait to finally see a great Superman movie and some made comments like "especially after the last crappy one".

Lol

Hey! That was below the belt :p

I know. It's just so annoying.

I mean, how easy must it be to be a Batman fan. I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't think Batman is cool, or at least okay.

You hit it exactly on the nail !
