All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 5

I was watching animal planet and it just came to my mind that it would be awesome if they had supes play a hand in protecting the endangered species list. I just think that would be a touching scene

There are a couple of unfilmed scenes from Superman and Superman II similar to that. In Superman, there would have been an oil spill which Superman would deal with, and he'd find a sea eagle covered in oil and clean it off, then fly with it. In Superman II, he would have intervened in fox hunting, somewhere in England.

You know I was thinking about something like that......the hunters in India have they're sights on a tiger, and you see superman decending in their shotgun sights with his arms crossed. I think it would be cool......I just don't want supes to me one dimensional, like someone pointed out, I wanna see why he's the greatest protector and hero of all time

Hunting wildlife in India has been banned since 1972, but in some countries hunting is permitted by Officials subject to certain rules.

So, what needs to be shown in a Superman movie regarding the illegal hunting of wild endangered animals ?

No, not at all. But laws that few people are aware of shouldn't be the reason why a scene like that shouldn't exist. Plus, if it's illegal it makes it more appropriate that Superman would be there to stop it.

No one said anything about the legality of hunting wild endangered animals - just the morality of it.

It's irrelevant to me whether it's illegal or not... Superman would still be against it IMO, and therefore a scene like that could very much exist.

Yea I know what you mean.....I think they are not allowed to kill a female, but they are allowed to kill an adult male. I just thought a scene would be cool, especially for kids, showing them to protect our animal history

Bingo

Right...superman Is our greatest protector.......no matter what it is, he stands for truth and justice

As Superman is not being filmed in native 3D, does anyone think that a post conversion is on the cards?

Looking at Warner Bros recent track record I'd say it's a given. However Snyder and Nolan don't seem to be for it. Ultimately the film needs to make more than twice it's budget for WB to start making money with this property so yea, it will be converted.

Just seen an old Millar interview and he noted how Superman as in bed for the last 20mins of the last film and how silly that concept is. I agree lol.

Hmmmmm.......If an activity is legal Superman would not get involved, however if that legal activity is judged amoral, Clark Kent would certainly champion the cause to make it illegal.

I could see Superman removing an animal from the vicinity of a hunter in order to protect it, but acting against a hunter who is obeying game laws......nope.

Surely Superman isn't against everything illegal. Is he against himself? Because what he does is illegal. Would Supes not help a raped girl from being stoned to death just because it is allowed in some places?

As painful as it is to realize, given that he does not force his will on mankind, in that scenario Superman would not intervene.......and that is why no writer should paint the character into that corner.

A question..... what specifically does he do that is illegal?

Umm.....superheroism/vigilantism.

be specific.........If he responds to a cry for help, or to a crime in process apprehends the criminals and turns them over to authorities what law has he broken?

Is he invading privacy when he sees thru walls or overhears whispers....etc.

illegal alien by definition.

I'm not sure at all that any immigration law would apply to ETs.

He doesn't have an official license to apprehend anyone. The only legal response is to call the cops. What he does is take the law into his own hand.

Not to mention breaking and entering and collateral damage.

Hmmm....you are right. He is still breaking laws as a vigilante though.

Does he have the right to enter into the home of an abusive husband and throw him out the window?
