Man if I never saw that Wonder Con footage for Green Lantern, I would've never set up myself for disappointment. All the trailers before were ok but it wasn't until that footage from Wonder Con that got me really excited.

You can probably still watch it after knowing how mediocre it was and say "Man this looks really good." lol

Wow, that looked really good. The CGI was good too in this and yet it sucked in the movie.

I don't think that GL ever looked as good as MOS and I was one of the few who liked GL's trailers so I'm not tossing it under the bus.

And Shannon as an actor is a million times better and more engaging than the dude who played the villian in GL.

Hector Hammond aka Dr. Big Head was a horrible villain.

Without a doubt he's a talented actor that can almost out crazy Nic Cage.

Have you seen Michael Shannon perform? The guy is easily one of the best actors working today.

He is an amazing actor, but for him to be amazing, he needs something to do, a role with enough complexity for him to put his abilities to work. I think that was the point. Amazing actors have been wasted or turned in ****** or mediocre performances due to poor scripts and direction plenty of times. (eg. Bale in Terminator 4)

^ The CGI looked cheesy. RR seemed alright, but bland. Blake Lively felt iffy as Captain Ferris. The late Micheal Clark Duncan and Mark Strong looked good in their roles, but it looks like GL was up against a "cloud villain." Also, the Hotwheels track moment felt like it could have been taken from Batman and Robin. And this is the trailer stuff, some of the highlights from the movie, generally speaking.

I think I have an accurate assessment of comic-based superhero movies by trailers.
TDK looked really great-but very disturbing (it was). Watchmen looked uneven but with epic moments. ASM looked OKAY-rather bland and melodramatic, despite having action-oriented trailers (it was).

TDKR looked admirable and ambitious, but a bit too "big" to have the personal feel of BB, or the crime drama flavor of TDK (I was right about as well.)

Avengers looked GREAT, but not really deep, just enjoyable.

But MOS looks unbelievable. A lightning-in-the-bottle type of origin movie that truthfully may never happen again. It seems to finally find the balance between realism and fantasy that ASM ATTEMPTED, but unabashedly embracing the genre when the film calls for it. It looks to be at the top of the genre. I might not be the smartest person on the block, but I think I do rather well at assessing trailers.

Just watched the latest General Zod tv spot. I've always had faith in Zach Snyder and have enjoyed all of his previous work. He has his own unique visual style ..... but this movie looks to be something else. I swear I'm probably going to be sitting there with drool down my face from the visuals. Really glad they hired that man to do the film. He was the perfect choice.

^ I agree. I think he does the very best job at replicating the style of a comic book while still having an underlying cinematic flavor. With a nice big budget and a new emphasis on realism, I think he's gonna hit both worlds very well. The drama looks to be subtle and top notch, and the fantasy and action looks to be truly epic.

I was always Suspicious of the GL marketing.
They were selling it as more cosmic than it actully was .
I knew there was a lot more Earth scenes than they were advertising.
In the case of MOS, they are being very clear about Scenes on Krypton and Earth .
They are doing a very good job of letting you know what you are going to get .
Compared to the marketing of GL, they are using a much more honest approach.

Yeah. When I saw TDKR's action packed moments, I knew that the emphasis would be on the events leading up to the action, not the action itself.

MOS looks to have one of the most honest trailers out there, assuming the movie's actually this good. Speaking of which, I love HonestTrailers :D

IA with all this. I had the same assessment with the trailers you've mentioned. And the movies turned out to be what the trailers tolds us. Especially the Avengers trailer, it was a great and enjoyable ride, but just that.

MoS on the other hands really looks unbelievable, a perfect balance of action and depth. But hey, if it's a bad and disappointing movie this could be the movie that makes us lose faith in wonderful trailers, promo stills and amazing tv spots, a movie to use as a reference for our "remeber how amazing MoS looked..." comments. So let's wait and see.
So far so good.

LOVE those guys !
"Featuring the cast of Inception"/"the cast of TDKR".
LOL.

I don't think anyone can play nutty better than Cage. But at this point, I think Shannon's a better actor. :)

IF MOS is dissapointing, my guess is it will still be pretty good, just not Super Epic Fantasalistic

I'm not sure which teaser trailer I prefer better. The MOS teaser or the SR teaser. Even though SR didn't live up to it's expectations, you can deny the teaser for the movie wasn't amazing with Brando's voice over.

What was your assessment of the sucker Punch trailers, TheFlamingCoco?

THIS! Trailer 3 and the tv spots look like a comic fanboy's dream on film. Mine included. So I think it would be good at worst, maybe more action than character, etc. But the advertising makes it look impossibly good.

Brandos voice stil has the power to command attention, even now .

Words cannot accurately describe just how much I hated the villian in GL. I hated the make up, how the villain was written and the performance.

I hated the GL trailers, except the wondercon footage was good. Loved, Loved Watchmen's trailer. I like that movie though, 3/4. Man of Steel trailers especially the 3rd trailer are some of the best all-time and #3 might be my favorite trailer ever.

Also, Man of Steel is screening today for critics, bloggers, and so on. Screenings will be happening regularly from today tell the 14th of June!! So hopefully we get some reactions today :)

Yeah. GL had tons of problems. I wish they went with the Geoff Johns script.
