^ The CGI looked cheesy. RR seemed alright, but bland. Blake Lively felt iffy as Captain Ferris. The late Micheal Clark Duncan and Mark Strong looked good in their roles, but it looks like GL was up against a "cloud villain." Also, the Hotwheels track moment felt like it could have been taken from Batman and Robin. And this is the trailer stuff, some of the highlights from the movie, generally speaking.
I think I have an accurate assessment of comic-based superhero movies by trailers.
TDK looked really great-but very disturbing (it was). Watchmen looked uneven but with epic moments. ASM looked OKAY-rather bland and melodramatic, despite having action-oriented trailers (it was).
TDKR looked admirable and ambitious, but a bit too "big" to have the personal feel of BB, or the crime drama flavor of TDK (I was right about as well.)
Avengers looked GREAT, but not really deep, just enjoyable.
But MOS looks unbelievable. A lightning-in-the-bottle type of origin movie that truthfully may never happen again. It seems to finally find the balance between realism and fantasy that ASM ATTEMPTED, but unabashedly embracing the genre when the film calls for it. It looks to be at the top of the genre. I might not be the smartest person on the block, but I think I do rather well at assessing trailers.
