All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - Part 67

Ebert seemed like an okay person but I never cared about his opinion one way or the other. I mean no disrespect to the man but he just wasn't a critic I followed as we didn't have the same taste in films for the most part. 3 out of 4 stars is a good review so I don't see where the complaints come from.

The hysterical fanboys don't just hate critics who give their beloved CB films a negative score, they also hate the ones who don't give them a 10/10. It's pathetic, really.

Yeah. I remember when the late Ebert got attacked for giving Captain America:TFA a solid (and deserved) three stars. He was accused of not liking the genre, despite giving Superman 1 and 2, Batman Begins, Spider-Man 2, Watchmen, and Iron Man, 4 out of 4 stars. It was pretty crazy.
Even worse was the reaction to his Thor review .
And neither was fair , Ebert was a fan of the genre .
He loved TDK And Spiderman 2 was #4 on his Top 10 films of the year list.

Probably get reactions this week since it is screening multiple times in the next 6 days

I actually think Ebert's reviews are good at weeding out bad movies. If a film has less than 3 stars, GENERALLY speaking, it's not that good. Though I've disagreed quite a bit on his 4 star reviews ;)

I agree with this. If he gave a movie a low review, more times than not, it was movie I did't like either.

Yep. His Thor review was harsh, but that film REALLY does not hold up to criticism.

I didn't like Thor either, that movie gets passes that I have seen no other comicbook film get. So I guess Ebert and I agree on that one. Rest his soul.

Hopefully the sequel is much, much, much better.

I think it had good character development, but the environment on earth was bland and many moments wouldn't be out of place on the small screen. And shakeycam for the action shots. And a prolonged love story. And an anticlimactic ending.

Thor was about two hot kids hooking up :o

That being said, Loki was awesome.

Man of Steel.

:awesome:

^ WB: We need the 3D.

Zack: What about Imax?

WB: Oh, you mean IMAX 3D?

Zack: That's not what I said.

WB: And what you meant was?

Zack: Never mind.

Do you guys think a MOS tv spot would work with a rock song instrumental?

Thor was about a poorly filmed action scene on the most obvious set in movie history and Portman phoning it in and one of the most unconvincing love stories ever.

Yep Man of Steel sure looks great.

It's been screening for awhile. Question is who gets the first review up.

Their kiss was so weird too, it looks like she's trying to eat him.

What's amazing is how few spoilers are out there given how long the film has been screening.

Thor's love story was one of the few parts of the movie that worked for me. Hemsworth and Portman were really cute together. Everything else was so small in scale. Thankfully, it doesn't seem as though MOS has that problem.

I don't even need a review at this point. I just want a reaction. Did the reviewer love it or hate it, I mean.

Kind of like how the Heat ate the Pacemakers for dinner last night?

I agree with Rachel, I don't care about an actual review but I would like to hear if the people who have seen the film liked it, loved it, thought it was okay, mediocre or really disliked it or hated it.
