I know. My throat hurts too when holding in the tears haha.

I hear ya. Then comes the panic when you realise your coke has run out and you're praying your friends don't ask you something,
forcing you to reply with a broken sniff-ridden voice. Didn't happen, just sayin' :O

The only thing I'm asking for from Man of Steel is a shirt rip scene.

Exactly. Superman has been around for 75 years for a reason. He's a great inspirational character. Not all heroes have to be endlessly angry, brooding or reluctant to be Superheroes. I like A-hole heroes as much as the next person but not every hero has to be the same.

Yeah, and the people who view Superman as nothing more than a dull, overgrown boyscout, have likely never read some of his best stories. Supes periodically gets seriously pissed off and has been known to pulverize bad guys when he's pushed too far. He's an absolute badass in many stories. People who don't know that, really don't know the source material.

If anyone hasn't already seen them, Str8Rippin posted HD versions of spots 9, 10, and 11 in the Official Spots thread!

Nevermind: I see they've been posted here as well. =)

Comics ended 30 years ago, you know that? :whatever:

I only hope I don't cry because my wife will probably be looking at me like I'm crazy lol. Don't know if I'll be able to hold it back though.

Why would she? Men are allowed to cry. :word:

What's really crazy is that in 2013, that is still an issue.

All they need to do is read the Golden Age Superman. That version of the character didn't take any crap from anyone. Hell, he even killed people.

I was borderline on the 11th tv spot. I cried when I first saw the third trailer, it's gonna move me like an emotional tumbleweed.

Lol SO know how that is.

I think it would be more because I'd be crying over a superman movie :yay:, she said she doesn't like superman :argh: I'm making her go see it with me anyways though.

Lol that's good for you. :woot:

It's amazing how connected, maybe obsessed, or how much we really fall in love with these characters, and these movies. That the people from the outside looking in would look at it as crazy. But it's not.

My love is pure!!!!

:p

^ I hate how people think he should be happy-go-lucky even when people are in danger. Comics have moved on to create a realistic and moving depiction of the character.

Agreed. Crying is not always good and not always bad. I love cinema so I do not think that it is silly to cry during a film.

While that's true, I still think Superman is supposed to be "better" than that. Moments like that serve to show he's not perfect and is susceptible to emotion.

But I think the ultimate, ideal version of Superman is as compassionate and merciful as possible. If he's nothing more than one of us with otherworldly powers than he's not living up to his full potential. He has to ultimately rise above his negative emotions because of who he is and the beacon of hope he is meant to represent to the world. I'd say that's especially true in this take on the character where the world initially fears him and his power.

So yeah, Superman certainly has some badass moments but in no way would I categorize him as a "badass". The boyscout label is there for a reason, it just has to be well-written in order to engage people, especially in such cynical times. That's why Superman is a very tricky character to get right, even Snyder said that when he first took the job.

OMG, is Jor-El alive!!?? What are they doing! They're destroying Superman's mythology!! I don't care how good MOS is, you don't change the mythos!! I don't care how many changes they have done in the comics, Jor-El should be dead!!! DEAD!!!!!

(hysteric fanboy mode off)

^ Now this is what makes Bruce Timm the most awesome DC person of all time. He actually goes to the World's Finest online forum from time to time. That being said, MOS looks like a dream come true.

You are not alone... and I know a few others who got teary too with that trailer.
