Some might think it is terrible, It may be the majority love it and some hate it. I just cannot imagine this movie being split between the masses 50/50. So, we have over 10 reactions basically and the majority are positive and 1 or 2 are Negative. I like the odds.

I feel we'll get more Lois growth when they play around with Clark figuring out his 'secret identity' (reporter) in the sequel.

Not everybody's gonna like it that's inevitable, I've got a mate who hates the Dark Knight Trilogy which most people love.

It is completely pointless. Anytime someone mentions the Bechdel test as a way they honestly judge a movie, I loose respect for that person and their opinions. It is just so arbitrary.
My criteria for the Bechdel test are more lax. Two female characters, talking about something other than DATING male characters in the movie. :funny: If it's a male-centric movie, they'll likely be talking about men. I don't see a problem with that. It's when everything boils down to romantic relationships for women, that I have a problem with.

It just happened to be sheer dumb luck that Jen didn't mention Batman or Bane in her exchange with Selina. :oldrazz:

the bechdel test sounds silly to me.
Of course you're gonna have Martha/Lois/Faora talking about Superman

what else can they talk about in a Superman movie? how different the weather in Krypton and earth are?

???
I know. when I read that I just SMH....:whatever:

This is going to be fun, who cares what this lady thinks, what matters is if the movie is awesome to us GEEKS, and fans, that's what matters.

That's not what I meant, I'm saying if that if it's the ONLY big negative of Man of Steel from her perspective, then you have to wonder how biased she really is about the whole gender spectrum. Plus I'm more curious to hear about potential writing problems/character development/etc.
Right, that is obviously very important to her, and ruined the movie for her. It's not going to ruin the movie for you (Or me) but it's something to consider after watching it.
What she says does fall under potential writing problems/character development though. At least for Lois/Faora.

You are seeing it next week? GOOD! I expect you to report back asap! :woot:

Anyway:

Russell: Do you want to talk about Man of Steel itself?

Kevin Smith: **** yeah, I can’t wait man. They haven’t let me see any more of it than anybody else or anything like that, but here in town there are folks who have seen it. All I keep hearing from those people, when an Agent says “people really seem to like this movie” that’s the highest praise you’ll ever get in Los Angeles. Most of the time people are like “everyone ******* hates it, dude” but with this one people can’t hide it. They may have cracked the Superman code again, man. I’m looking forward to it. The trailers make me cry, as much as I can put together about the story I’m there for.

Yeah, next Thursday, MAYBE. It depends on if I can get a babysitter, and how my wife is feeling. I'm not seeing it without her.

I agree with this...i think in real life if a man was flying down the street we'd all fail the Bechdel test...even men

I think my expectations were getting too unrealistic so I'm kind of thankful for the last couple pages. It's just a movie afterall. I still think it will be my fav movie of all.

I bet if they talked about Lane, she'd complain that the male character's just care about her because of her usefulness, and not her personality ;)

So? You have a problem with that? Yes, it should be. What Goyer did with Batman is the same as with Superman. Rip-off a couple of comic books. And considering what a huge responsibility Superman is...and the fact that both Nolan and his wife went on record more than once about how they were helping with the script and considering no script Nolan was ever involved in was truly bad, I'd say my logic is pretty damn good.

In your opinion (when it comes to BB). That's not fact.

They're two completely different characters in many ways. Different mythologies, villains, characters; everything. Also, they didn't rip-off comics, they adapted.

TDKR doesn't have a bad script so that remark = fail. :cwink:
TDKR has a pretty poor script. At least the final draft that I read. Riddled with logical gapes in plot and horrendous, insulting, spoon fed dialogue.

EXACTLY! How do you NOT talk about Superman??

Let's not all attack Jenn though guys. We gotta respect everybody, that's what Supes taught us. :)

From the trailers, Lois looks nothing more than a damsel in distress and that might piss off some people. She is a huge part of Superman mythos and a character that deserve to be respected.

That said, it doesn't matter much, unless you want it to.

You should also try not to let her personal opinion influence your perspective and viewing experience in any way. We all see things differently.

Really??? Thanks for letting me know! *even though I probably forgot more about Bats and Supes than you'll ever know*:cwink:

And yes, there are several rip-off elements. And my point still stands. Your argument is invalid because Goyer & Nolan are smart to know the differences for one thing.

TDKR: poor script? Just LOL, this movie is one of the most ambitious ever seen, it's incredibly rich, maybe too short for its own good, because it could have used 20 more minutes at the very least to flesh out some aspects of the No Man's Land, but poor script?

Just hate how some think they could write something better, writing a script is no joke, it's serious work, and much harder than some think.

Damsel in distress right here.

I do really like TDKR, but it's the weakest out of the three, in my opinion.

Her opinion has been noted! And I'm not saying she is lying either but one negative review does not scare me. I expect more to roll in. We are all human and we all like different things. Though I gotta admit if I got a chance to see a movie 3 weeks before everyone else and for free, my opinions might be a bit different. I like free stuff.

For example when I was stationed in Fort Worth, WB gave a copy of SR to the theater on base a full week or 2 before it was released in theaters! I honestly believe that might have effected my glowing review of said movie. The movie was free, I was seeing it before hordes of others, and that popcorn on base was outstanding (and FREE!!) When I watched it a couple weeks later in IMAX I was far less impressed.
