It shouldn't matter though. We shouldn't see white or black, gay or straight. I hate that social issues creep into our movie experiences :( Can't we just enjoy these great characters to happen to white or black, or whatever??? sigh

Sigh... That attitude is frankly cover for NOT doing any non white characters. I'm sorry but we are in fact in the early stages of a big demographic shift in the country's make up. Those that don't adapt will not prosper. That's not a social issues thing, that's a free market thing.

Marvel announces Black Widow for summer 2016 and Black Panther for summer 2017. :cwink:

Honestly, I don't care character about the race or the sex, I just want to see my favorites adapted well. I'd prefer Wally, but to see a proper Flash movie makes me giddy. To see Superman and Batman on screen together makes me giddy. To finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen makes me hysterical. Same at the chance of seeing Harley and a proper Green Lantern film.

without turning this into a Marvel vs DC thing

...im willing to bet somewhere some scripts are being shuffled around

FOX has Gotham, CW has Flash and Megan Fox was in TMNT.

**** me...sorry- I'm just getting so confused with all this CB news and shows these days...that's what I mean't. I'm an Arrow fan too, so I shouldn't have made that mistake:oldrazz:

I feel like this perfectly describes how you're feeling.

I knew I would get a kick out of the Faraci articles(his comment section as well). I no longer read his coverage on anything else but I have to imagine he finds the negative caveat in every story he covers? Pretty nuts.

Big news day from WB.

Didn't the modern era start with X-Men? In which case we have seen Blade sequels and Elektra since then.

Blade wasn't a superhero
and the less said about Elektra the better.

yes there have been minority and women superheroes movies before
Catwoman
Supergirl
Steel

but we are now at the age where they can be good

So does this confirm back to back filming with BvS and JS Part 1?
I'd think not. JL part 1 doesn't hit for another 3 years. BvS will be done by the end of this year, maybe early next year. They won't start filming JL until probably early 2016.

Same here. Which is why we got "empty dates".

Oh come on. Like I said before in another thread. When people say black men for example are skipped over for superhero films, they forget that even in present day they only make up 6% of population in the USA. It's a pretty small population proportion to feel like you have to wedge them in. To me, we will be at a better state of recognition on race to not make notices of characters based on the color of skin. A good character is a good character, whatever race they are. Let's not chock things up to diversity, we are all humans regardless of where we come from. Why even notice such things and make them an issue? meh, let's just see everyone as equals and leave it as that.

Blade isn't a superhero. My childhood was a lie. :csad:

And yes, I understand your point. :yay:

What exactly do you mean by "modern"? Are you just referring to the recent Marvel movies and the new DC movies? Cause there's been black and female stand alone superhero movies before.

Sure... STEEL, SPAWN and CATWOMAN exist but... Do you really think they count in the modern context of these films being both critically and commercially successful? Hancock I'd count as an outlier and BLADE is sort of the B.C. era to the post BB/IM1/X1 era's A.D.

Same here. Which is why we got "empty dates".

Sony: "Bring me that Ultimate Spider-man comic again..the one with the colored boy"

Fox: "I think it's time to do a Storm solo movie"

I'm beginning to wonder if Kevin Smith was right about the DC films telling one large Justice League story that continues through the individual heroes' films.

Has to be Crisis on Infinite Earths or something along the lines of that.

I don't know what gender, sexuality, or nationality you are...but its real easy to say stuff like this when your gender/race/sexuality/etc. gets good media representation on a consistent basis.

:cwink:

He apparently does. Devin says Brainiac is drawn to Earth because Superman activated the Kryptonian beacon.
So the destruction and appearances of General Zod, Faora and Brainiac are all because Clark was an idiot that one day during the events of MOS.

I have no problem with it. Im excited for Brainiac. But it's actually true and pretty funny that it's all due to Supermans obliviousness.

We need to see diversity on the screens, especially in leading roles. Just because we shouldn't have to see gender, sexuality, or race when we see people, doesn't mean we don't. We need representation in all walks of life, whether that's the workplace or on the movie screens. As history has taught us, humans internalize popular depictions of certain groups, and if minorities are always playing second-fiddle to mostly white male characters then we need to reevaluate how we depict these groups.

Anyways (and this is completely random) but Momoa's right eyebrow looks just like an AM logo http://instagram.com/p/uLnY9evHHU/?modal=true. Should have been a dead giveaway lol
