I actually think that we've seen the general audience catch up to our tastes, as many creators involved with film come to the medium shaped often by genre fan sensibilities. So stuff like The Matrix films or Tarantino's approach to visuals has primed them to see the real deal. On the other side the source material itself has become more nuanced and mature taking cues from TV and film, and thus making things easier to adapt as well.

Wow, that long huh? Earlier today I was out with some friends checking the toy isles and one thing crossed my mind while chatting with them -- that in just a few short years the toy isles are going to be crammed with WB/DC superhero movie merchandise. Just to see all those Movie Masters - Hot Toys figures. It will be such a sweet moment.

Life does go fast, especially when you have a lot of things to do. I also think as you get older, you seem to notice time passing by more quickly.

Eh, there is nothing more concrete and objective than people personally taking the time out of their day to pay for your movie. Repeatedly. Tastes and expectations are clearly being met.

That's a whole lot more informative to me than rants and criticisms on the net over what "should" be successful.

Perhaps we shouldn't equate a "good" film as being a "successful" one, because even in real life, we know good people aren't always successful.

What will be interesting to see is what happens to these movies. As Entertainment Weekly stated in a piece they did "It’s absolutely okay to view the WB announcement with complete skepticism. The earliest movie in their Cinematic Universe is 18 months away. Every studio needs to pretend they have a blockbuster slate planned out through 2020. Half of these movies might not get made. But let’s assume that the only way to take this announcement is at face value. What needs to happen for these movies to be good? What are the known knowns, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns that could ruin them?"

Ant-Man didn't make it into Phase One. Dr. Strange didn't make it into Phase One. Black Panther didn't make it into Phase One. In the future when it comes to J'onn you never know. Film, network, basic cable, HBO... It could happen, just not right now.

I think it was considering AV2 is only a matter of months away. Reportedly its one of the best films yet according to one of the stars.
