This is the problem with a lot of MOS defenders. They continually build straw man arguments because they seemingly don't want to acknowledge that...a lot of people just didn't dig the film, or they did, but they didn't love it as much as TDK or Avengers.
Building strawman of your own, is hard to avoid with this phrasing imo.
It's any interesting point you make however, the question, is how free are producers to play around and push properties like Batman into contemporary and beyond genre filmmaking and how free are they with Superman. "First post 911 cbm..." is something I heard all over tdk praise, nothing good to come of such things when placed in superman imo. Objectively sure, why not. Expectation wise, grey area good vs evil is just not what people expect from superman.
Imperfect heroes are a staple of modern cinema. All modern highly celebrated cbms have this in spades, how conducive to that very concept to Superman of all things?
Hard to ignore imo.
