Snyder once again names TDKReturns as an influence.

Back in 2008, he said he wanted to make a TDKR movie. I guess he's finally getting his wish.

Zack Snyda said:
There are a lot of other graphic novels out there, but I would love to see Frank Miller’s Dark Knight made into a movie, but that’s just me.

he's obviously got a good connection with Frank Miller after doing 300 too, i wouldn't be surprised if that rumored meeting between Snyda and Miller actually happened.

This is all making me want to rewatch the animated Dark Knight Returns...

Could we be seeing a female Robin? As long as we get Dick Grayson as Nightwing, i'm fine with a female Robin

Zack Snyder interview

From the outset, our approach for Man of Steel was acting as if no other Superman movie had never been made. Superman is the first superhero.

[Batman] bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante

How... does that work

Obviously, there will be a physical confrontation between the two.

Well, there it is

Gross. That really discourages me as a superman fan.:csad:

Not perfect, but close to it. I'd say it's only 1 or 2% less perfect than Alien (which is perfect).

I'm glad to hear someone else say Alien is perfect, I love that film so much more than Aliens its sad to see Aliens always getting the...everything.

I just hope the Superman we get inst the TDKR version....as a Batman fan I enjoyed the story but as a Superman fan I hated it...and I'm more of a Superman fan.

If anything though, the only liberties that he'll take from it will probably be how cold and focus Batman comes off, with the many years of experience being a factor as well.

That, and I see the state of Snyder's Gotham being similar to the one from "TDKR".

But aside from that, there's not much that they'll be to use from the material regarding Superman since Snyder has stated that his superman isn't going to be the government lackey that we saw in the comic book.

I think there's still some hope.

It's probably just Batman and his world that will reflect on what was shown in the comic book, along with Batman having issues with Superman.

As long as Superman isn't the version from THAT comic book, we should still be fine..somewhat.

Snyder's Superman will probably knock over an old lady and run through a brick wall when he does this. :oldrazz:

I fail to see how you come to this assumption about "Snyder's Superman. I understand that you are attempting to make a little dig at Man of Steel by once again harping on that tired criticism of the collateral damage in the film. Even though both sides of the debate have been painstakingly argued over ad nauseam. What is the point of the constant snide little remarks. Its over. That film is done and there is a sequel on the way and we are finally getting our DC film universe.

I was clearly up for it, as I just had it.

Calling my terms "blanket" means nothing.

STM was not a serious, dramatic movie. It had too much comedy to be considered that imo. That is my reason for not liking it. I absolutely said it wasn't serious and I meant that. It's campy cheese. It seems I have to put imo after everything.

And I think as per usual people choose to highlight my lack of IMO to mean I wasn't speaking of my opinion. So...here it is again imo. That's why I'm getting annoyed. People say they are open to others opinions on this, but then make posts that seem to indicate this is just the usual "everyone has to like STM crap."

Fair enough. I don't think your opinions about it are wrong I just think they are silly and uneducated. STM was a serious adaptation, both in the time it was released and in terms of today. A campy humor and aesthetic has nothing to do with it. Its themes of acceptance, death, purpose, and free will are universal and were implemented with both skill and, in my opinion, courage considering those themes were unprecedented in live-action superhero fare at the time.

Saying STM is "a bad movie" is the equivalent of saying Ray Harryhausen's movies are "bad movies" simply because they were created before dour storytelling and CG were a staple in genre films. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I see those opinions as nothing more than silly, naive and disrespectful to film making itself.

To quote Steven Spielberg: If somebody put out George Pal’s War of the Worlds and took the strings off the machines I’d be very upset. When that machine crashes in downtown Hollywood, and you see the strings going from taut to slack, that’s the thing that allows me to both understand this movie is scaring the hell out of me and at the same time this movie is a creation of the human race.

Just my opinion. And I'm not even a huge fan of STM or its sequels.

Yeah, there's hope. I just really don't like much from the DKR. It bugs me that Snyder is so fond of a book that butchered superman imo.
