I do hope Hans Zimmer comes back... he's been on fire lately and I say it's about time he gave us an epic, sweeping, undeniable Batman theme.

Also an epic Superman and WW theme.

Edit: How would you guys feel if Zimmer teams up again with James Newton Howard ? JNH's GL score was not really good.

I'm happy that he's coming back but even if he wasn't I would've been happy to see someone else come up with epic scores. There's many other talented people out there who can do a job.

I just knew he would be coming back. Really interested and excited to see what he does with a brand new Batman theme. I'm thinking something ethereal/choir elements. I dig his Spidey score and his MOS score I really liked.

Yeah, if I was Zimmer, I would take this gig simply for the interesting challenge it presents -- incorporating his Superman themes while also crafting an entirely new Batman theme that doesn't even resemble what he did for TDKT.

Whatever he comes up with, I bet it will be awesome.

It's definitely interesting and a challenge. Like Danny Elfman coming back to the Batman series and doing a brand new theme, devoid of any Burton sound, meaning his BTAS theme would be excluded. But I think Hans is up to it. He's already moving away from that type of sound in ways. His Superman theme is powerful and optimistic. I can see a more subdued, mysterious Batman theme in contrast perhaps.

Well, there isn't a lot of good things in that movie. Though, I'd love to see HZ and JNH back together. I really like their work on BB and TDK.

Hans was unsure about scoring MOS.
Hans was unsure about scoring BvS, mostly due to Batman's presence.

Both instances will work out. It's all in the script.

I think he already came up with an epic Superman theme for Man of Steel. I have it in my head all the time.

Agreed. The 'lack of one main theme' criticisms don't apply to MOS and TASM2. If they want one main Batman theme for BvS, Hans is more than capable. He gave plenty of them for Nolan, but the approach there was different.

I think thematically it would be cool if the Batman and Superman themes superficially sounded extremely different, but harmonically and rhythmically they're composed in a very similar fashion.

Throughout the film the themes clash and play into one another. Then in the third act when the heroes start to work together we get a third theme. A sort of amalgamation of both. This theme shouldn't be played up though. It should be subtle, very subtle, but memorable enough so that it chimes with viewers when they hear it's final form in the next film... Where it would be known as The Justice League theme.
