BvS All Things Superman and Batman: An Open Discussion - Part 96

Not it wasn't the editing that was my problem. It was the fact that Cavill stuck his arms out like Jesus on the cross and fell backwards out of a spaceship and then the music. Ugh I dont really mind the Jesus imagery when it's done right. E.G when Spiderman stops the train in SM2 and when the people where carrying him over. It was emotional and was done right.
.

I didn't see what was the point of sticking his arms out when he got out the ship. He could have just started flying the moment he put the hole in the wall.

Get one last look at his dead father.

There was tremendous hype for MOS but ultimately it was let down by the basics; some average to poor performances in the acting dept, weak story and poor editing. I expect BvS to be much of the same in terms of how it will be hyped, but I think this time will be different. That WB will be looking to shore up the weaker elements this time around.

The fact that Goyer is no longer involved in the scripting process is a sigh of relief. He's the biggest problem with 80% of the things wrong with MOS.

None of the performances in MOS were average to poor. It's just the actors and actresses either were written poorly or not given anything to work with or didn't have that much screentime.

Lawrence FIshburne = Good Perry, not enough screentime
Cavill = Good Superman, barely given any dialogue
Costner = Good Pa Kent, written like an *******
Adams = Good Lois, does way too much

When it comes to the script, I wonder how much of Goyer's writings will be left intact? After all, the script is being written by Terrio, but from an earlier version by Goyer. Considering Terrio's talents, I am hopeful he was able to shore up any weak elements in the script, and that this time around the characters have solid characterization and that ultimately we see that brought to the screen, in some excellent performances.

Jor-El had to give him another speech again, so there's that.

Doesn't excuse the Jesus imagery there.:oldrazz: Could have done it without sticking his arms out, come on.

I hated Jor-el's speech to Supers. You say he could be the bridge between 2 worlds but in the beginning you said he's free to choose his own destiny. What if he doesn't want to be the bridge between 2 worlds?

Just as dumb as Pa Kent saying he is his son and no matter what man he is he will change the world and then you yell at him for not wanting to be a farmer.

The writer's guild credits a writer if 33% of what he/she wrote is still in the script I believe. But yeah Terrio will do a good enough job. Argo was great and of course didn't he get an Oscar for writing it? I have more faith in him than I ever did in Goyer. That guy is a hack especially after what he said about MM and She Hulk. What a *****e.:whatever:

I better get Martian Manhunter. Damn it Goyer, all I want from the DCCU is Aaron Paul for Flash, John Stewart GL, or Martian Manhunter. Would love all 3, good with 2, I'll be fine with one.

Martian Manhunter would be cool. They could introduce a back story that shows how he was fleeing the conflict upon his home-world and came to Earth, only to end up at Area 51 and go from there.

If only it had a Scott/Cameron script.

Assuming you don't mean the 'scripts' Scott himself has written, I find this statement somewhat ironic given the 'scripts' of this mans last 4 films(in a row) and how they themselves were received.
Sometimes I'm not so sure what's going on around here but I imagine it has something to do with hyperbole, both in terms of like and that of hate.

As for Cameron(my favorite), he wrote a super hero movie treatment once...funny story. Could be worse though, could have been a 'goyer treatment'.

I'm sure it will be DelToro next.

Well, I don't think Jor-El was forcing him to be the bridge between two worlds, it's just what Jor-El would like to see him become. This is often the case with parents. But in the end supes was still free to do whatever.

It's not like Jor was gonna say you're free to smoke pot all day and get fat and live a worthless life because freedom lol. Of course he has to at least try and plant something honorable and good in his head as any parent would.

Same with Pa Kent, he was just being a dad.

If I had a son I would want him to be free, but I'd probably love it if he had my interests and followed my way, but I'm not gonna give him a hard time if he decides to go his own way so long as he doesn't hurt others.

My take on it.

I took him saying that he could be the bridge between two peoples meaning he could bring knowledge and good things from krypton to humanity.

Aside from the obvious Jesus imagery, it's a common pose people do when they're about to "let go" and fall. You've never seen it before?

Anyone else see the devil imagery with Zod?

I thought he looked especially satanic in the vision scene with the skulls, and particularly when the cape is blowing.

...your arms float up in outer space...jeech, everybody knows that!

Do they also have a choir singing God/Jesus like music in the background as the person falls?:o

Definitely a very slow news weekend if we are going over MOS again .

Yeah kinda. Does that scene show what happens after the terraforming is complete? Was pretty a dark scene with all those skulls.
