Almost half through Gotham. Not too bad; may need another episode or two to really get more into it. Has the same gritty look of the movie Seven- very cool!

It's a comic book movie.

The dead come back to life all the time.

It isnt about her coming back, it is about the ridiculous idea that she is the villain of Justice League. There is a better chance I was cast as the Flash than Supermans mother is the villain of Justice League.

Speaking of Justice league, I was watching JLU specifically Divided We Fall and I thought how amazing that would be in live action. Come on Snyder, give me Lexiac vs. The League...you know you want to!!!

Serialization has been existing since the dawn of fiction. There are several cartoons from that period that used serialisation, such as gargoyles for instance. Not to mention I'm merely stating that while it is a great show, it could have been even better imo, regardless of how well known serialization was at the time.

Not really, not on US television. Gargoyles started about the same time that BTAS ended. The mid-90s was when the big explosion of serialized storytelling on American television started. You can't judge a show's lack of ambition based on modern standards. It did a lot of things that were new and different. Just look at how well it stands up now in comparison to other superhero cartoons from that time like X-Men and Spider-Man. X-Men pioneered long format storytelling, but it's animation, voice acting, and maturity of writing were greatly inferior to BTAS. And I say that as someone who loved the show as a kid.

Huh? Were soap operas, both daytime and nighttime on TV before BTAS? Yup. Were there shows like ST. ELSEWHERE, HILL STREET BLUES ect. on TV before BTAS? Yup. Were there many a multi-part TV mini-series on broadcast American TV before BTAS? Yup.

As others already pointed out, it's kind of odd to say that serialized fiction is some sort of recent development. The average Hispanic woman that's been watching her telenovelas for the last 40 years on Spanish language TV might have something to say to that.

BTAS probably would have benefited from being allowed to have more serialization, though it did have it's own continuity and mined it. He'll, that's the cornerstone of the DCAU, which was it's own multi show continuity. I think what is fair to say is that American animated programming when BTAS made it's debut was not allowed to be serialized. That is far more accurate than the blanket statement that metaphysician made that started all this saying that serialization was only a recent development across media.

You're referring to the Salkind International Cut which was broadcasted first on ABC in 1982. What exactly make it your favourite version of Superman compared with the theatrical version?

What makes it my favorite version of Superman? That's an easy question to answer. Its because its the longest version of the movie which exists to the public. Its a very different viewing experience to any other version of the movie.

I had a feeling you'd say something about that. :funny:

:funny:

I'm sure the battle will pull elements from the story, and even maybe some others with Bruce's portrayal. Though that was pretty obvious. At least I thought it was.

I thought that the first episode was good, not perfect. But a lot depends on how the characters develop in subsequent episodes.

I watched Gotham with my gf and best friend who is a Bat-Freak and this is our grades:

Bat-Freak: A

GF who is not big into comics: B+

Me: A

We all agreed it was a lot of fun and it is our new Monday ritual. Penguin stole the show but Falcone was very cool and the Renee/Barbara storyline was intriguing :)

So apparently, Lennix has said in a recent interview that fans of tdkr comic book arc will be happy with this film.

I liked the comic but I hope the movie balances some of the darker themes.

i dunno if it's been suggested yet, but what if Brainiac takes the form of Lara? Brainiac could be made of the same material as Kelex

I... Wha... I don't even...

No. :o

he would only take that form initially, trying to gain Kal's trust. I don't necessarily want that to happen, but I can totally see Brainiac being made of that same material as Kelex and those mechanical arms. Remember that Brainiac easter egg in MOS? IF Brainiac is a Kryptonian AI, it'd make sense for him to look like that

Brainiac as a villain would be interesting. Showing him mind-controlling Superman, even ordinary people on the planet.

that's actually an interesting idea, kinda like,

maybe brainac would want that genetic information of kryptonians in Kals blood, and braniac feigns a way to get into kal's head using lara.

Umm... What Brainiac Easter Egg? If you are talking about the way the gravity beam looked at times, with 3 energy nodes or whatever... Yeah, I would say that's fan sphincter pulling at it's finest. A real stretch. Besides, if you go by comic book canon, Brainiac is not of Krypton, he is from else where in the Universe (Colu) and attacked Krypton and stole a city. It's only Timm's version that has the direct Krypton connection. Finally, after all the whining about the WE fight I don't want to hear more hissy fits about Superman fighting liquid metal tentacles (which I had no problem with and which was set up throughout the film but was missed by all the film school drop outs that complained). Sorry brother... No to Lara (say what?) being used by Brainiac or the like.

How would that work exactly? Wouldn't Superman know just from his super senses that it's nothing but a mass of liquid metal trying to maintain the image of his mother... Whom he's never seen any way? So it would have no impact?

Don't be sorry, i don't care, it's just a possibility based on that rumor which is likely false.

also the Brainiac easter egg was DEFINITELY a Brainiac nod, a tiny little nod but undoubtedly a nod. The Brainiac symbol like that isn't just something that pops up all the time in movies, you can't seriously chalk it up to coincidence. Think about it. This is a Superman movie and they showed the exact Brainiac logo. It was a nod. It doesn't necessarily mean Brainiac is coming, it was just a tiny easter egg.

I think that's a stretch man. It assumes that for some reason the version of the STAS show is what is going to be Brainiac in some form here in the DCCU, where as no other influence of any kind of STAS can really be found in the film at all. It's a pretty flimsy hook to hang your hat on. "Undoubtedly" is a strong word by the order of several magnitudes to use in this case to my eyes. YMMV though.

Think what you want, i won't be swayed. I firmly believe that was supposed to be Brainiac easter egg. It doesn't "mean" anything, it just means that there was a tiny Brainiac easter egg in MOS. It doesn't mean that MOSverse Brainiac will be Kryptonian, it was just a tiny fan nod put in the movie by Zack Snyder.

Until Snyder denies it, i will firmly believe that was supposed to be a Brainiac nod.

i mean come on, look at that! how can people think it was a coincidence that Brainiac's EXACT symbol showed up in a Superman movie?

The supposed Martian Manhunter easter egg is much more questionable in relevance :o
