The problem is that it doesn't make much sense for an impartial hero to be fighting normal German troops in the trenches. The movie will really need to justify that.

Well seeing as the Germans invade Paradise Island that seems like a good start ;)

And?

You do know that after most press screenings, the press can't even tweet about what movie they saw? Movies with no tweet embargoes usually have premieres within the next couple days ex. GOTG2 and Alien Covenant recently

This board has an embargo on trolls :D

Explain how she's impartial.

I think he was talking about Captain America, he was responding to my post about Furst Avenger skirting around the war aspect. I see what he's saying but dont totally agree with it.

It's always fun to see Haters coming out of the basement to desperately try to find something to criticize when positivity has been spread! As my father as told me...you can always count on the terrible people

Why must filmmakers worry about how will critics receive the movie ? Critics are not some approval committee to decide what constitutes as an art which is a prerogative of directors.

The approach taken by Marvel is not some gold standard, there's enough room for a different approach, even if the subject we are dealing with is fictional.

Because it shows in the filmmaker's track record, because it impacts on the film, franchise, or brand's reputation, because like it or not critics incluence some people's opinions, because critics influence some people to buy or not tickets, etc.

Critics do not define the quality of movies because that's subjective, but they do have an impact on them. No filmmaker or studio likes their films to be critically panned.

Dont be too bothered by SHH. Its just a fan forum. This movie is much bigger than all this. Still then, its just a movie. In other words,

If critically panned but loved by the audience(whom the filmaker makes the film for),it's a financial and maybe awarded for an award why should a critic matter? Aren't those early old movies that were critically panned now considered classics?

Early critic screenings are a positive sign in of itself. It shows WB has confidence in the film. Plus I'd like to think that the studio's not stupid and they're fully aware that the critics are going to give "teaser tweets" of their thoughts on the film which helps generate buzz.

There's a catch 22 to this. Yes, they let bloggers and some critics catch an early screening. However, it appears they're not allowed to say much of anything. EDIT: An embargo on tweets I see.

WB still with their foot half-in, half-out right now.

Which is a common WB thing to begin with. Fury Road got raves, but they did not come out till only a few days before, but some word going around is that WB might lift the embargo early for WW. Either way, you bald bastahs ain't never happy. :oldrazz:

Why wouldn't she be? It would reflect poorly on her if she wasn't. There wasn't really any good guys or bad guys in the First World War.

Except in this case it takes place in a fantasy world and Ares the god of war is on the side of the Germans.

WB has finally learned...

or, they know they have a good movie on their hands this time.

Critics have to be pampered; they have to be treated as royalty, they need to be given privileges. Things like early screenings, throwing a party for them, having the filmmakers interacting with them, etc. are good ways to do it. That's PR and it's very important.

Why? because they undoubtly impact a movie in a positive or negative way. You can hate them and discredit them all you want but it is undeniable that a critically acclaimed movie will draw people's attention, whereas a panned movie will make people lose interest. As a business, you want people to be interested in your product.

If I remember correctly, they hid BvS from critics till the very last moment and that was a mistake. Sure, BvS was never going to be critically acclaimed, but giving critics some privileges could have at least mitigated some of the backlash. They were embargoed anyway so I don't think they would have hurt the movie's OW. At the end of the day, they're humans and can act based on their feelings and emotions.

I believe Disney-Marvel does it all the time, but it's not hard to tell they are a better run company.

The whole point of a critic is to get an objective, professional, fair-minded and impersonal analysis and evaluation of a product. This borders on corruption at worst and at best it's super lousy. PR is absolutely important but it's a meant to be a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and the public. Not between an organization and the people who professionally judge the merits of literary or artistic works. The fact that there need to be these bribes in the form of special treatment and pampering to ensure favorable appraisal is just awful. I'm not blaming WB at all. It's the critics that just make my stomach turn from how petty, unprofessional and fickle they are.

Critics have become too self entitled, there was one recently who basically said on Twitter "You guys didn't put me in a suite and pay for everything so i'm going to **** on your film". Critics have to be babied now which pretty much explains everything happening in Hollywood nowadays.

Bloggers write a piece that becomes popular and they become a critic on RT right after. You use to have to prove yourself before you could review movies, not anymore.

I think all critics should pay to see the movies. How fast would they all cry about that tho? lol

First world problems.

The critics that are certified on RT should have a film degree at the very least. Right now, any schmuck with good views and traffic on their website can be approved.

can you name the critic who said that?

Terri Schwartz of IGN is saying the current embargo ends on May 31st, with Wonder Woman opening June 2.

However she also said it can be subject to change

Replying to @Ted_Cind
We are embargoed until the end of the month but it might lift sooner!

Probably a placeholder embargo.
