^ well he was holding his ground against slade when he was sparring, we've seen him hit a bulls eye with the bow and shado did say in the first episode of season 2 that oliver had come a long way in his training

Maybe but do you think he has gained most of his combat skills training over the summer break? If he kicks all sorts of ass on the Amazo then that would seem likely. And it would mean Oliver gained less and less as he got more training. Although that could make some sense, it makes the 5 years thing seem off.

If I recall correctly, one of the producers that that Oliver has reached about 25% of his skill set so far in the flash backs. 25% of current oliver is still pretty bad ass, but I feel slade will deal with most of the people on the boat.

Well if he has 25% already then he got most of that in just 5 months(the break between seasons since he did little training during S1 and none until he met Slade) Hmmm.

There is a thread for that topic; and no, Arrow is not part of the DC film continuity. Thank God.

Returning to topic, I really enjoyed this week's ep; it was nice having Laurel be tolerable...for a scene.

Which scene was that? I don't remember. :hehe:

Oliver's been on the island for a little over a year. A few days after getting stranded there, he met Yao fai, and he was with him for a few days. Then after getting captured and escaped and what not which took in all about a month. After that he met slade, and ever since slade has been teaching him. So he spent a few months with slade where all he did was basically
Learn from him.

After a while shado came along, and then they also had 6 months of uninterrupted training with both shado and slade. And Being on the island isn't a walk in the park, he had to learn how to adapt and fight for survival.

Since gettin stranded on the island on day 1 till where he is currently (flashbacks), its been a learning curve. The island toughened him up, so really, he's had a full year of training.

He's already tough as hell, and he's got a vicious, unforgiving and feral fighting style right now. He's not skilled enough to beat up multiple opponents in an even confrontation, but he can probably defeat two or three opponents if he uses his surroundings and fights prison style, which is exactly what it looks like in the Amazo.

Man, with everything that's been done on this show as of late, and with what we know the producers are trying to do with the Flash series, I feel like it's kind of a big injustice that the two series are stuck with the CW Network to air and finance their shows.

Nothing entirely against "Agents of SHIELD", but I feel like Arrow and even the "Flash" should be on a big network like ABC, with its resources, finance, and exposure since everything that I've seen on AOS could have still worked for the most part with them being on the CW Network instead.

I mean can you imagine on what this show could achieve if they had the type of budget and resources that ABC, or any other prime time network, could give out? The show already accomplishes a lot impressively with what the CW is giving them.

I'd rather they be on CW, the network is known for lengthy series in this genre. If it was on any other network we'd be biting our nails every week hoping the ratings were good. With CW it's almost a non-issue, look at Smallville, Supernatural, TVD, all genre shows all with a lengthy non threatened lifespan. Just take a look on the AOS ratings thread, every week they ask themselves if they'll get a season 2 or not.

I thought 2 Seasons with AOS was guaranteed? Or was it just the one full Season that Marvel/Disney would stand behind, no matter how bad it does?

It's better being on CW, and it works wonderfully with what little budget it has.

Yep, means they are forced to do things practical more often and use as little CGI as possible.

So I just found out that Manu Bennett actually went through Australian military training for his role in Spartacus, which is really cool because he plays an ex Australian millitant

I've been saying for a while the show is too good for CW.

Here in Canada, it at least airs on CTV, which is a pretty big network.

I like the idea of Arrow and Flash being in the same network like CW since WB partly owns it. Also, CW should be home to the DC small screen. CW could have a DCU TV franchise in their hands while WB takes care of the movie big guns like Superman and Batman.

I'm not sure what the financial model is for networks like the CW. However, bigger networks do not automatically equal bigger budgets. Rather, it could simply mean larger profit margins for and higher demands by the execs. For instance, NCIS doesn't strike me as having a particularly large budget despite being the most watched drama on television.

In contrast, being on a smaller network has the potential benefit of less powerful execs who are more willing to take risks.

That's pretty much what they're doing. Once/if those Young Justice and Hourman shows get made then they will have fully functioning DC live-action universe on TV.

The only thing with Hourman is unless something has changed isn't it suppose to be a different person every week getting taking the Miraclo? I guess it could be part of the DC CW Universe. But with that premise I just don't see how it would connect like how we've seen how Green Arrow and Flash connect.

Am I the only one who snickers at the way Slade says "vigilantly"?:hehe:

I posted this in the episode thread, I will post it here as well. Anyone else get a Calculator vibe off of Knepper's Clock King?

Yeah, he's got the vibe in as much as Felicity has Oracle's vibe. Which arguably works better for him, since Clock King's timing obsession molds so well with Calculator's M.O., but his motivation and obsession are more engaging.

And I'm loving the setup for The Promise; we've got mind games at the Queens thanks to Slade showing up, and we've got a major Battle for the Amazo on the island. And I could be wrong, but I think their going to pull a Trojan Prisoner gambit with Oliver. They'll turn him over after revealing his family's wealth, and then he'll reveal he's actually Crouching Playboy, Hidden Badass when their backs are turned and shank a punk. Cue Deathstroke massacring dozens of guards on board.

Interesting enough, I also got a Mister Freeze vibe due to his motivations; i.e. committing thefts in order to help treat a loved one who is ill. I think the comparison was deliberate, as MacGregor's Syndrome (Tockman's illness) shares a name with the illness that affects Mister Freeze's wife in the Batman & Robin movie.
