I liked midnight city. Although they could have used a better explanation for Oliver's ahem "death", the whole concept of brick literally taking over the city was well executed. Also, I like the direction that Laurel is heading towards and this ep proved that she has her work cut out for her on the path to becoming Black Canary. The plot line of Ollie's "death" has really given the supporting team a chance to come into their own, especially Roy and Laurel.

However, having said that, I am looking forward to Ollie's return in the next ep. The show would just seen a little incomplete without him if he had been gone for more than 3 eps. I just hope that the Arrow team can sustain this momentum....

Overall, I'd give this ep an 8/10.

If only he was talking about Olivers resurrection but we all know he aint. But lets see if he sticks to his guns this time.

What if all of this chaos in the city is all orchestrated by Ra's al Ghul who got Brick free from prison in order to flush Merlyn out knowing he will want revenge for Rebecca? This would give Ra's the opportunity to kill him? I know the DJ is just one of the spy for demon head but Brick is the muscle while DJ is the eyes and ears

Even though "jumping the shark" is kinda vague, I don't think he's using it right.

And reading his @replies...who are these devoted fans who hang on his opinion and are going to miss his voice on the After Show? He just seems like such a non-factor to anything to have a devoted fanbase. Bizzare.
Oh well.

I don't know, not with that voice-over of what was obviously HQ n the Arrow SS episode. We'll see.

I think I remember hearing the producers saying on how them even being able to show that "Easter Egg" was a result of a compromise that the producers made with DC/Film Division at that time but that they aren't allowed to use her since then...which is probably as a result of the SS getting their own film now.

Thank Christ that kid is [blackout]in the League[/blackout]. I was afraid they were wasting screen time on some prettyboy whose sole purpose was to bat his eyelashes at Thea and play songs on his iPod.

I just want to see the scene in which Ras tells a LOA member he has to pose as a Hipster DJ to spy on a Merlyn's daughter.

Who is this and why do people give enough of a **** what he thinks to screenshot his Tweets?

There were so many ridiculous things that happened last night, saying Arrow has "jumped the shark" is not too far off.

Having Laurel use a magical voice box that sounded like Sara's voice when she was on the phone with Lance was one of the creepiest, silliest things I've ever seen on Arrow. Then, when she's on the fire-escape talking to him later, it was hilarious to watch Katie Cassidy "lip sync" with Sara's voice. The lengths she and Team Arrow have gone through to keep Sara's death a secret from her own father is truly disturbing, at this point.

Then, there is Oliver's survival. I HAVE to believe that they're going to double-back soon and explain exactly what it was that brought him back to life. If they don't, then yes, Arrow has jumped the shark, and they have also nuked the fridge.

I won't jump to any conclusions about Oliver's bs survival yet, but if by the end of season they still won't give any plausible explanation I hope Flash just flashpoint paradox'es The Arrow out of existence.

There's a ****ton of hyperbole going on atm. Also, if this means we never have to hear the name Campea again I'll be so friggin happy.

Same. At first I thought he was mad because Oliver survived but apparently it's because of Laurel... That's right he's dropping the show because a side character became a superhero. He's insane and wasn't the fan of the show in the first place.

A little too far lol. I do hope they give some sort of explanation soon. I'm guessing it will be discussed next episode.

The episode was really good imo. Better than the last episode. Only part that I didn't like was Laurel using the voice modifier to sound like Sara.

John Campea was going to hate it no matter what. He hates Laurel with Passion.

Most of the complaints about Oliver's survival is because people wanted him to be put in a Lazarus Pit. He was always gonna live and so short of a Lazarus Pit it was going to be disappointing to people how he did.

Even if they didn't use the pit, they could have used another explanation, as long as it involves something that is able to revive the dead. You don't fatally stab him, kick him off a cliff, have him exposed to the freezing cold, and then just tell us he survived because of his will to live.

Brad Meltzer Easter Egg

Brad Meltzer - Thea is shown reading the novel Book of Lies by Brad Meltzer. Meltzer is a novelist and comic book writer, and has written several high-profile books for DC, including Identity Crisis, a six issue run on Green Arrow and a 12 issue run on Justice League of America (which heavily features Roy Harper.) A large portion of Book of Lies' plot features a connection between Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's creation of Superman and the Cain and Abel myth. Part of the book also takes place in the Siegel House, the childhood home of Superman creator Jerry Siegel in Cleveland, OH. The Siegel house was where Superman was allegedly conceived by Siegel back in 1932.

Agreed. They should have had him brought by the Lazarus Pit or just not have Oliver die in the first place, have him end up in a coma instead.

There still a chance the pit is used or some other method. We never saw how katana healed him so dead or near death requires more than herbs. Katana is only saying will to live because there is probably more to this so we wait and see.

I thought the nod was really cool. Brad Meltzer is actually the writer who got me into Green Arrow and Deathstroke through the Identity Crisis mini. Well deserved shout out. As far as this episode, at first I was hesitant about Vinnie Jones as Brick but now he's proven himself to be a capable villain and honestly I feel like Brick could have been a season long villain. I hope Oliver doesn't come back and just wipe the floor with him as that would be disappointing.

I'm holding out hope that Oliver was revived instead of healed and Maseo is just withholding information. The flashback illustrated that Maseo had no problem withholding important information form Oliver before. If things stay the same I'm going to be annoyed the writers took such a lazy way out. Also I agree with the several posters who feel the Lance/Sara subplot has gone too far. It's basically cruel at this point.
