Works for Legends of Tomorrow. They pair off and work different angles. Come together when they have to.
It's pretty much necessary considering how many "fighting" members they have. You have to share the spotlight somehow.

But I still believe that no matter what kind of show it is, the best seasons are when each member of the cast has their own personal arc that gets touched on throughout the season, and it converges into the main arc of the lead. That alone was what made Laurel's arc redeemable in season 2, because it lead to her learning Oliver's secret and helping him against Blood and Slade. And right now, the show has been missing that for the past season and a half. It really feels like no one has anything to do outside of the cave.

Yeah. Why I enjoy Flash a lot. We get the family & friends hanging out moments and it's a breath of fresh air. It's not all business.

People will say we get that in Arrow. But it's never fun IMO and 95% of it is usually Oliver and Felicity.

Flash has been pretty guilty of it this season as well, in regards to Caitlin, but I almost feel like it's intentional. She hasn't really done much outside of helping Jay, since Cisco is usually the one helping Barry and Harry. Part of me feels they are trying to make her seem close to Jay, so that his reveal or death or whatever happens in the end will somehow push her closer to being a real Killer Frost. But she rarely does much when Jay's not around.

But still, they've shown the team going out for drinks or coffee, or family time. I understand that the CW takes decreases budgets each year in order to increase profits, so sticking to the same sets help the cost to produce the show, but at least Flash ventures outside of Star Labs every now and then.

Honestly...I've been having a hard time getting up the desire to watch the show. I don't mind Olicity so much...it's just that the entire show itself seems directionless. They can't settle on a tone, the plots seemed rushed, the island arcs have been incredibly dull, and while it was never exactly top tier writing, it now seems especially sloppy.

It's a bummer, considering S2 was very enjoyable. To be fair, Flash has been weaker this season too, but nothing like this.

One of the biggest problems of the season for me is Darhk. Maybe I haven't been paying attention or just forgot, but I have no damn clue what his plan is. Most of the stuff with him is like "Yeah, he's entertaining, but what does he actually plan on doing to Star City?"

Doesn't feel like anything is on the line.

I think it is basically the usual "villain who wants to do bad, in order to do good" plan. It is something along the lines of destroying the city so that they can start over, and make it better (or at least that is what I think it is). There is also a cornfield, and as far as I can remember, its purpose has not been explained.

When you get down to brass tacks, that's the real problem with this season. Although many would say Olicity is, I'd beg to differ. Felicity's been annoying on three separate occasions this season: the first episode where Donna appeared, when she found out about William in the crossover, and this last episode, when she found out about William again. Other than that, she's been handled way better than last season.

But Darhk? Yeah, he's been a problem. To me he's only felt threatening three or four times: the first episode, the episode when he tried to drain Thea (though that turned around quickly), the mid-season finale, and this last episode. Especially the first and mid-season episodes. In the first episode he had every official in the city except the one in his pocket (Lance) executed. In the mid-season finale episode, he had a drone open fire on a bunch of innocents on a beach, kidnapped Diggle, Thea, and Felicity, and then had his Ghosts fire on Felicity and Oliver's limo. But despite that, his motivations are still incredibly foggy. About half the things I listed have been for the sole purpose of hurting Oliver Queen.

Whatever Genesis is will be the endgame, but that's been shrouded in mystery so far, and unlike Merlyn's Undertaking, it's not being held with the same air of mystery. For one thing, Team Arrow has never heard about Genesis; their only focus is stopping HIVE everywhere they appear. In S1, Oliver found out about the Undertaking comparatively early on, even if not by that name, and started looking into it. But even we know nothing about Genesis other than that it's underneath Star City and it has something to do with a big cornfield. :loco:

+This. If you think about it I guess Diggle has a sub plot with Andy, and Thea with Malcolm. However all those threads bleed into the main plot. So it doesn't really feel like it's separate from the main. Which makes it feel like we aren't letting that story breathe In any substantial way. Laurel is lawyer but we never see her being that or Lance doing his job outside of team Arrow. It would be nice to see Laurel's tag line of being the justice you can't run from being put into practice. They could of even put the Lances working together for some of it instead of this constant focus on Dahrk. I don't mean he isn't important but seriously outside of the corn as well as totem. There really hasn't been any new development.

Curtis have personal arc kind of finding palmer helping twam arrow it similar to laurel season 2
there still 7 ep to add some personal arc no mask nor hive can still occurred

Yeah, I think about Smallville, and as bad as it was at times, one thing it usually never failed to do was keep everything connected more or less, while still giving everyone their own arc. Every season ended with some sort of cliffhanger for each character. It never felt like a member of the main cast was doing nothing for several episodes. Even people like Lois and Oliver, that came in for part-time, still had arcs that would eventually impact Clark's main arc for the season.

So it's really hard to believe that a show like Arrow, today, has trouble balancing a smaller cast, where only two characters get extended arcs.

I think they still be some personal arc coming. It just not yet shown.
How? The last seven episodes are usually when the main arc gets all of the focus as they try to build towards the finale. What room is there now for any kind of personal growth?

I'm really curious about Genesis. If it's about destroying Star City, then what's up with the corn field? If it's about destroying the world, period, why does DD give a flying **** about Star City to begin with?

Star City could be seen as ground zero since the city is dying already. It would easily be set as base of operation. The crops could be used to control the remaining population with HIVE control the food supply.

This is just something I wrote up to compare the recent/upcoming story arcs for the various comic book shows I watch. To be respectful, I've put the actual descriptions in spoiler tags.

1. Supergirl:
Kara's exposure to Red K has ruined National City's image of her, and she will have to work to regain their trust while also trying to combat Non, deal with the loss of two support pillars in her life and the possibility of Max Lord continuing to be an antagonist this season, and possibly field new suspicions from Senator Miranda Crane.

2. The Flash:
Barry and his team have faced the perceived death of a strong ally, dealt with grief in the ways they could, and had some serious, emotional discussions. They are soon to discover who Zoom is, deal with another Speedster criminal, and build towards a confrontation with Zoom and reopening the portals to Earth 2 so Barry can fight for the fate of more than just Earth 1, and along the way Barry will meet a superhero of another universe by going onto her show.

3. Lucifer:
There is a heavy build-up towards a confrontation for Lucifer with his brother Amenadiel and he has recently lost his trust in Mazekinn, and has been hit with some revelations that startle him. Chloe Dekker, meanwhile, is unaware that her estranged husband is the cop on the take and that secret will be coming into play, I'm sure, especially since the person who revealed it to the audience by meeting Chloe's husband was returned to life by Lucifer's 'self righteous brother'.

4. Legends of Tomorrow:
While Kendra, Ray, and Sara deal with the possibility of being stranded in the 1950s, the rest of the team deal with bounty hunter Chronos and Sara eventually decides to go back to her roots as an assassin. All of this, plus continual build-up towards a final confrontation with Vandal Savage.

5. Gotham:
Bruce Wayne has confronted his parents' killer but come to several startling realizations, and has undertaken a journey into the underbelly of Gotham with his ally Selena Kyle. Meanwhile, Edward Nygma has begun his descent into becoming the Riddler and set his sights on Jim Gordon.

6. Arrow:
More relationship drama in store for Oliver as he and Felicity must have a wedding after all to lure out Cupid, and one can be assured that rather than focus on true elements of story, there will be an overfocus on the aftermath of the Olicity break-up, complete with Oliver complaining about his relationship woes to former girlfriend/jilted lover Laurel Lance. Follow this up with an episode that once more focuses on Felicity, and then follow these with a pair of episodes devoted to the death teased from the beginning (and if rumors are true the death has more to do with them finally deciding they'd rather not admit they screwed up and kill off a legacy character and appease a small, incredibly rabid portion of the fanbase). So, relationship drama, relationship drama, followed by angst-ridden melodrama.

I am looking forward to seeing what happens to Darhk, who now does not have his power anymore. This is quite different from how things normally are. Normally at this point, the villain is still in a dominant position. I am sure most people are looking forward to seeing how Darhk will react to having no power and H.I.V.E continuing his big plan without him, despite all that he put into it. Supposedly he will break down and become crazier and end up a far cry from his confident, polished self at the start of the season.

Also, how do you know that killing Laurel would only be to appease a small portion of fans. She is the least popular of the main characters, and has been since season 1. She is the character that would be missed the least by the majority of the audience. Felicity, in comparison, is popular with most people and not just shippers and that has been the case since season 1. I am a fan of Laurel and think Felicity does not deserve all the importance that she has on the show, and I enjoy other characters more, including Laurel, but I can still see that Felicity is clearly more popular with most of the audience and that Laurel is the least popular of the main characters. The show is not just about catering to me. Just because you, me and some others on here have certain opinions, does not mean that most of the audience shares them.

Sigh of course judge only using press release there more relationship drama when we know it just a minor part of the episode and not focus on the court scene not surprise zero mention of that. Sound like a excuse to trash the show and again zero evidence it on them

I more annoyed people believe arrow will focus on olicity when that a lie and it just a small part of the episode. It
I interest in darhk plan and hive but people ignore this and just think it be all drama because of some press release and promo. Zero evidence of the true plotline

The reason I didn't mention the courtroom element is because MG has pretty much given the impression that we won't even get to see Laurel shine. I hope I'm wrong, for the record, and the next four episodes are stunning. I just don't trust MG and his team of writers to have come up with anything stunning.

The point of my post was that the other comic book shows are all focusing on the main story in their next few episodes, while Arrow is focusing on relationship drama and angst-ridden melodrama. I'm sorry if that doesn't excite me in the same way it does you.

I didn't even think of doing a cross show comparison but some good points have been raised. Gotham has issues but Hugo Strange is 100x better than Damien already. His monster men plot with Mr Freeze has so many potential implications for the future of the show. With Darhk I'm sure we'll get another destroy the city plot like the dumb virus from last season and then no one will care.

Is the show on a filming hiatus??? I noticed that both Katie and David are not in Vancouver, as Katie is in Hollywood and David recently posted a picture of him and his son at Disneyland.... Just got me thinking:

What if they are using Katie as the ultimate red herring and are actually killing Diggle off? Yes, I know he was seen in these "leaked" pics but I don't believe for one second those were real "leaked" photos and more of "photos to throw off fans", mostly due to Katrina literally waving at the camera man. Even though the writing for this show has been absolute caca, maybe the writers can actually pull of an actual twist with this one. I'm not all done with my theory just yet, still looking into it.

Here's my spitball theory for it.... Diggle gets killed, Laurel is in a coma or left SC. Or vice versa. I'd do a more in-depth theory, but right now I'm hyping for Daredevil Season 2.

You do know if it's both Diggle and Laurel, that would leave Team Arrow–at least temporarily–at just Oliver, Felicity, and Thea.
