Off screen deaths are rarely good.

Yeah, but it's pretty clear that did it to leave themselves open if for some reason they decide to bring him back. Just because they don't have plans to bring him back this season, doesn't mean they wont eventually.

Then why did he decide to take a character who has always been a hero, and randomly replace them with a doppleganger which has nothing in common other than besmirching the name?

No idea. But that decision wasn't a reflection of his entire run. I'd give it a read. I understand why you'd be hesitant, but it's worth your time.

I'd love for something a bit left field in terms of villains. My idea of the big bad this year would be Requim, Inc. They really don't have too much of a comic presence so Arrow have room to build them how they want, but they are basically an agency to hire assassins from. They employ the Body Doubles in the comics who received their comic as a spin off from the Ressurection Man.

Now if you read my post on page 26 then you know what I might like for season 6 but here is how I would fit villains into all that. So I believe who the survivors should be are Felicity, Slade, Black Siren and Wild Dog - my reasoning on my previous post.

So season 6 would start with a new business being built in Star City, at long last they've gone a year without being blown up. An assassination attempt is made by the Bosy Doubles on the new CEO or whomever but Oliver, there as mayor, is able to stop it. Over the course of the first two episodes he is able to chase them out the city, but unable to capture them. The next few episodes would be generic villains but in Flash episode 7 there is an assassination attempt is made by a trio of assassins called the Killer Elite; they are Bolt, Chiller and Deadshot who is revealed to be alive. Barry informs Oliver of Deadshot's survival and his work as an assassin. As he investigates the Killer Elite he is able to find out that they work for Requiem Inc, after turning to Slade for information, and further digging reveals the Body Doubles work for them also. He comes to the conclusion that with the fall of the LoA a new organisation has risen to be the face of assassination contracts. They hire people but insist they work in groups to get the jobs done. Oliver makes it his mission to bring amend to Requiem. They contact Lyla to see if they can find Deadshot via his neck implant by no such luck. Felicity puts an ad out asking for the assassination of Oliver Queen bringing the Killer Elite. Team Arrow capture Deadshot and interrogate them and he finds out about Johns death, and comforts Lyla when she breaks down in front of him. As the season goes on Oliver gets closer to the top, imprisoning several assassin groups along the way including the Body Doubles, Killer Elite and Masters of Disasters.

I really think that you could get a really good story out of all this, with the Vigilante and Helix storylines added on top you could go a whole season of filler.
Ep 1-2 - The introduction of the Body Doubles.

Ep 3-7 - Oliver and the remains of his team attempt to stamp down on Vigilante. He's finally captured in Episode 7.

Ep 8 - Crossover. Barry informs of Oliver of Deadshot's survival.

Ep 9 - Oliver and co turn to Slade for information on the Killer Elite. They soon find that the Body Doubles and the Killer Elite work for Requiem, Inc. Big Bad Reveal!!! Felicity puts a hit on Oliver and they use the opportunity to capture Deadshot. Deathstroke vs Deadshot, come on!!!

Ep 10-13 - Investigations into Requiem Inc force them to retaliate and send the Body Doubles, Gunhawk and Gunbunny, and the Killer Elite back after the team.

Ep 14-17 - Helix returns as they've used their help over the course of the season. The team do their best to take them down and destroy the organisation.

Ep 18-23 - Requiem use their best team of assassins, the Masters of Disasters, to attempt to destroy Team Arrow, or to better put it, survive. They take down the company and Felicity sneakily uses this as an opportunity to give Oliver a new chance at a new business and creates Queen Industries.

It was barely off screen. He knew the death was coming and had weighty emotional moments with key characters. They didn't show his body being ripped into shreds true, but they probably weren't allowed to.

In other things, I was bored and discovered that the only recurring characters/actors who've appeared in Seasons 1-5 without ever being a main character are Lyla and Frank Pike.

The actor says that MM is dead so if even he thinks he is dead, that's just harsh on their part lol.

It was off screen. He managed to save Thea, what says he couldn't someone else in his place? It's very easy to show the actual explosion, Malcolm taking his foot off and BOOM.

Dinah looks really good. I like the bun on Curtis. It also makes more sense from a production standpoint and a logic standpoint ("Oh no there's a robbery! Let me wait four hours to respond so I can braid my hair...")

Are they just filming promo material? When does production start?

Yeah they are just doing promo work. Production starts up mid July.

I have to see the entire outfit before I can really judge DDs outfit but it looks very Flash. I hate the long gloves on her though it doesn't suit the character.

I'm not a fan of this Black Canary.

My first thought was "Smallville." But I confess I had a feeling some people wouldn't like it (lots of leather, and all). I don't think it's bad, though. A tanktop might've been better than a short-sleeve shirt, if they were going with the long gloves, but overall I like it.

You are right. Her costume does look like a female Wolverine. Even has the circular yellow trim on the sides.
LOL, the magic of film making. That technician looks almost like a homeless man asking her for money.

They must have some kind of fetish with the X-Men costumes.

They start off with having Diggle's first Spartan helmet look like Magneto's. And now they have Dinah's first legitimate BC costume look like the X-23 version of Wolverine's costume.lol

A slightly modified look to Sara's original BC costume would have been better.

That Black Canary costume is god awful. Rather she just kept wearing the leather jacket.

Season 6 confirmed crap?

I mean, they seemed to enjoy seasons 1,2, and 5 so I doubt it. Honestly I think the best sign for the future about Season 6 was that they were actually able to reasonably balance Olicity with a good plot arc and handle it reasonably maturely.

There's a big difference between "We will explore their relationship further in season 6" and "Olicity fans will enjoy this season".
This has nothing to do with good writing and they know it, it's just keeping tumblr fans satisfied in order to try and maintain the shows ratings.

I enjoyed season 5 of Arrow and think that it was a strong season, but it wasn't perfect. The following are what I consider to be flaws in season 5. Not all of them had an effect on my enjoyment, as some just stood out as funny to me.

Felicity getting Oliver to trust new recruits and reveal his identity very early on was very silly, IMO, as he did not know all of them that well, and he was risking them telling people his secret.

Oliver sparing Tobias in "Human Target" when he knew his secret identity, despite killing people again and having killed people early on in season for knowing his identity. This was an inconsistency and only happened because they wanted Prometheus to kill Tobias, to make him look powerful and scary, and to establish him as a threat.

Oliver and his team knowing that Prometheus had access to police lock-up due to his stars being made from his old arrow heads, and not doing anything about it. They never investigated people who had access to police lock-up. That revelation was just abandoned. It was revealed to get fans talking. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't investigate the police force.

The 100th episode being rushed. Some examples of stuff that was rushed IMO, is Oliver being scared and wanting to stay happy and be with Laurel despite him knowing something funny was going on, and then the next scene he was with Diggle and questioning things again.

Wildog being so strongly against Metas and Aliens and quickly changing his stance after being saved is another. It makes sense that he would change his mind after being saved, but the way everything happened so quickly was silly IMO. If he was that strongly against them, he would take more time before changing his stance.

The fight against all the villains should have been more drawn out and epic. I also think him saying goodbye to Laurel should have been longer. Due to moments being rushed, they were not as potent or as powerful as they should have been.

I felt that the scene where Chase interrogated the criminal in "Vigilante" was not as good as it should have been. When I first saw the scene when watching the episode live, I thought it was badly done. The acting from Segarra was good as always, but it was poor from the actress IMO, especially when she reacted to him punching the mask. I think there should have been a louder noise when he punched the mask, it could have made him come across a bit more scary. I also think they cut to him smiling afterwards a bit too quickly. This was an important scene as it was supposed to show that he was scary and had a dark side. When re-watching the scene, it wasn't as bad as I remembered it, but I still do not think it had the impact it should have had.

Felicity knocking out BS with one punch was very silly.

Them not telling us whether most of criminals Oliver and his team fight are dead or not.

Oliver getting Chases wife to talking him out of everything he was doing was very stupid. Getting her involved was always putting her at serious risk. I get that they wanted to show that Chase being not allowing is loved ones to be weaknesses like Oliver allows his to be was a big thing that separates them, but they should have done it in a way that didn't make Oliver look like an idiot.

Chase being able to dig up footage of Robert Queen killing someone, despite it being gotten ridden ages ago was a bit ridiculous and hard to believe.

The use of Talia. I thought she started off and was used well in her early appearances, in both the past and present, but then she disappeared for too long and things fizzled out with her.

The use of Everlyn, with her betraying Oliver and his team and joining Prometheus. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first as I thought there would be an explanation, but there wasn't. Her character betraying Oliver for Prometheus does not make sense. She joined Oliver at the start of the season, so that showed that she was willing to be a hero. After finding out about Oliver being a killer and not liking it, leaving his team and becoming an independent hero makes more sense for her character. Joining Prometheus did not IMO.

The finale was fun and very enjoyable, but while not as bad as the 100th episode, was very rushed. Lots of moments were not as powerful as they should have been, and lots of moments suffered, like the Talia/Nyssa fight which was rushed.

They should make fans unhappy and further erode the ratings? What is the difference how good the writing is if no one watches?
