Eh, 4 Episodes seems like enough time for it to eventually have caught on.

Description for the half season finale episode.
OLIVER IS VISITED BY GHOSTS FROM THE PAST — After a fight with Cyrus Gold AKA the Acolyte (guest star Graham Shiels), Oliver (Stephen Amell) is drugged and left for dead. Determined to cure him, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) makes a risky decision. The cure causes Oliver to hallucinate, and what he sees forces him to confront his past. Meanwhile, Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) continues to help Felicity, and their connection grows stronger. The Arrow asks Lance (Paul Blackthorne) to look into Gold, but when the stakeout on Gold goes bad, someone is killed. Roy (Colton Haynes) is captured and tortured by Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro). John Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Geoff Johns & Ben Sokolowski (#209).

So maybe another island centric- ish episode?

Why does everyone want him to be Solomon Grundy? Can't he just be some random strong dude? I'd rather they keep Solomon, for when they start to introduce mystical elements. Let all the enemies and allies introduced this season, be rooted in science.

Because Cyrus Gold is Solomon Grundy. He's confirmed.

I see. I hope he'll end up in a swamp then.

Because if they're bringing in a guy with Solomon Grundy's real name, it kinda needs to be Grundy.. because if it isn't, then we aren't ever getting Grundy and it's just a nod to comic fans? They can easily have someone kill him, to find the serum keeps bringing him back to life through science :)

I could see them going the route that the drug he is taking turns him into a zombie like person

I wonder how strong the serum makes him. I want him to eventually be at least as strong as the Berserkers in Agents of SHIELD. That means at least able to toss a car.

Before he becomes Solomon Grundy, he has to die and come back.

I expect that the drug he's on will facilitate him becoming the huge, zombie brute we all know, after he's brought back.

I hope they keep up the whole heroes and villains going through stages. He definitely needs to eventually end up as the grey, unkillable Grundy. He'd be good as a recurring villain, that gets used as muscle, and Ollie won't have to shy away from his no kill rule.

Did Arrow get hugely more popular or something? I keep reading it has low ratings, but it seems like the amount of people posting here has quadrupled over last year, at least o.O

I doubt we'll see "Solomon Grundy the zombie" anytime soon, even if the show is shifting towards including supernatural and sci-fi elements. It's too fast, too soon. Even with Merlyn (thus far), they've intentionally kept it vague in that he could either have been resurrected for reals or that his death had simply been faked.

As such, I suspect that what we'll see is that the drug will likely make Cyrus Gold strong, seemingly impervious to pain and injury, while also leaving him in a "zombie-like" state. There might also be shout-outs to the source of inspiration with perhaps him dying by drowning in a swamp and/or a shot of an obituary with something along the lines of "Cyrus Gold. Born - Monday <insert date>. Died - Saturday <insert date>.".

I don't expect him to immediately turn into Grundy. But it would be great if he slowly turns over several seasons, or just disappears, drowns in the swamp, only to return two or three seasons later, as classic Grundy.

http://www.etonline.com/tv/141056_Arrow_State_v_Queen_Exclusive_Extended_Scene_The_Count/index.html

extended opening if your interested. explains how count went from hospital to prison and who the jailer he took the keys off was.
The original version of tonight's opening had to be trimmed down because of time, but thanks to ETonline's very own Felicity, I got my hands on the entire, unedited re-introduction to The Count (played with reckless wonderment by Seth Gabel). Watch the exclusive extended scene above!

So... Felicity hacked the CW and got us the original opening? Good work, Miss Smoak. :D

Amell just tweeted the Solomon Grundy poem....

Maybe, Gold is killed here, but exits the story being injected with massive amounts of the drug there developing for this season. We've seen Miralco contort the corpses on the island, perhaps Slade gets the refined one that stabilizes for him, most people just drop dead, and Gold gets screwed over with a great healing factor and strength but massively devolved intelligence.

Maybe Blood keeps injecting him with the serum over and over again until he eventually becomes brainless?

grundy is a zombie, right? thats pretty cool that they might go supernatural. with merlyn being brought back by a lazarus pit, probably, it might be safe to say its not nolanesque or part of the dccu

That sounds like a main or recurring character is killed. If not what would be the point putting it in the ep description? And who could if be? I have seen stuff from eps past this about Laurel, Quentin, Diggle, Felicity and Moira. Who does that leave? Sara(gotta believe the LoA would kill her if it happens) Sin & Thea. Have I missed anybody?

editing to add: Not including Isabell because I don't see her on a stakeout.

My guess is either a fellow cop Quentin convinced to tag along or an innocent bystander; either of which resulting in Quentin getting into trouble due to his involvement.

Seem pointless, random people get whacked in SC all the time.
