The Dark Knight Rises Batman 4?! Discuss!

i think it will always be an option in the minds of WB. Nolans? Who knows. Nobody can say "oh i doubt he'll be in that state of mind come 20 years.." Twenty years is a hell of a long time. And we don't know if the Batman franchise will go down the tubes in a decade or two down the road. What if a director screws it up again and people just aren't happy with the direction they've taken? I'm sure the first few movies of the reboot will do just fine, but 10 years after that? Many things can happen.
What makes you think that it would? Who does that in film outside of things that are their 'baby' crelatively, pretty much from story idea conception? Jackson and Hobbit are a different kind of thing.

And you never know, the next filmmaker and version could end up being even better, and people will want that to do a 'Beyond' or something, and so on. Basically, it may be a pleasant surprise or what have you if chosen, but don't put it out there like a privilege or something that'd be a disappointment if not done.

Don't get me wrong, i agree that leaving it with The Dark Knight Rises as the final movie in this continuity is an amazing way to go out. I'm usually the one who is completely behind this trilogy existing by itself with nobody adding onto it. But for fun, im just thinking of ways it CAN be done.

There is 8 years of a gap between the last 2 movies. Im sure they wont mess with it, i dont want them to, but you know its going through some of their minds over at WB. There's also the huge possibility that Bruce survives this flick and lives the rest of his life happy. A 'Beyond' or 'Returns' has to be going through their minds too.
Nolan can do what he wants after this (he can now, for that matter). He's absolutely proud of what he's done with the character, but he's not fanatic about it like people here are. Years fro now, he;'ll have spent more time directing non-batman films than Batman films. I think he's had his turn on the Batman world and is basically (and respectfully) washing his hands of it creatively as a filmmaker. It needs him more than he needs it.

There's the idea of a Dark Knight Returns type film being thrown around, but TDKR kind of already is an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns in a way. Hell, they even have the same initials!

I'm not really a fan of comic adaptations. I want a story I've never experienced before.

An animated Killing Joke adaptation would mark the return of Hamill though, so I'm all for that one.

Good point.
Comic fans (admittedly myself sometimes) can forget how much more refreshing a brand new take on their characters via film can be.

Also, you know you're a Batman fan first when you hear about Mark Hammill and you instantly think of Joker before you think of Luke Skywalker.
;)

This is NOT the comics.

There WON'T be a Batman IV, there will be a reboot.

It says it`ll be produced by Nolan..!?
I dont undestand.
Reboot means that everything will start from the begining?
Somebody please explain.

It'll be yes, but he will not helm it. Someone else will. TDKR is the last film in this trilogy, the next film will be a reboot. New cast, new characters, new universe, new everything.

How about killing Bruce Wayne and replacing it with John Blake, this way everything will start from the begining.. ?
Why the hell did he decide to make a reboot and to anounce it before the full trilogy comes out.

Or how about rebooting it like reboots are rebooted, and have a brand new approach with a brand new Bruce Wayne and everyone else?

Was I right about something or is this just a rumor?

Horn said a ways back in an interview that Nolan would still be a producer (of some sort) on the next rebooted Batman after TDKR, of that's what you mean. It's been known for a while.

Oh. I've missed a lot of things leading into TDKR. I tried to stay away mostly to avoid spoilers but was drawn back in.

sign up nolan/bale for a dark knight returns film to be released summer 2020.

For anyone who saw the TDKR guys at the MTV movie awards they stressed like 4 times this is the end of the story/chapter/saga/bruce wayne.

Lies....all of it...!!

It's a setup.

I only want to see a Batman 4 if it goes into great detail about the Joker after TDK, points out that he has indeed gone permawhite while in prison, have the kid from the narrows in BB (and is now on Game Of Thrones?) come back as Dick Grayson, give Batman a sportscar, have him fight in really cool wire-fu, have Catwoman with a whip, have Bane suddenly grow two feet and acquire a Latino accent, and at some point have John Blake become the new Batman.

If any one of those criterion are not in the script, then don't bother making it.

Title of the film: Batman F***ing Four!

We don't need a Batman IV, what we do need is a spin-off that addresses the relationship between the Falafel Vendor and Flass that has been left unresolved.

It'll start with a much older Flass working in Arkham's cafeteria, recalling Felafel-Guy in his earlier years...like with the start of Amadeus.

Asylum Pastor: Mm...that's delicious. Is that...a hush-puppy?

Flass: No....that's felafel.....

No, no, no, no, no, no.... This is not right. I think Batman IV should take place BETWEEN TDK and TDKR, but not really connect to either of them. Have a change in tone as well, bring some unrealistic characters. Why not? Have a Bat-team of Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl, have a bunch of villains - one for every member of the Bat-team. Sounds good!
