Yes because obviously you know how i play. No when i play battlefield, halo or gears 3 its all about winning. Battlefield is definitely not as team orientated or as strategic as people make you think.

It's probably one of the most team based mp games around! The whole squad system and spawning on team mates is BUILT around teammates, as is support classes, etc.

COD has killstreaks, awarded for an individual players K/D ratio and it benefits only individual players. I second what Pat says, if you honestly don't think there is teamwork or strategy involved to play a Battlefield game, then you're simply not playing it properly.

BF is a game where ever just having ONE person you know and can work with in your squad can totally even the whole playing field. It's ALL about teamwork.

I've won plenty of games so I'm obviously playing the game right. And what does that mean not playing it properly. You run to the point that needs to be captured, capture it, shoot any bad guy I see. You can sit there and think there is more than one way to play but that is the basic gist of Battlefield. There's obviously some amount of teamwork but no more than I find in Halo and some modes in Cod.

Yeah, that could be said of ANYTHING. Take basketball... You take the ball, go to the other end of the court and put it in the hoop. Easy, right? Now what happens when the other TEAM is using their teamwork to block you at every turn? You need YOUR team, right?

That is exactly the Battlefield dynamic, it's all about struggle for control, like most MP games, except where BF is different is that if you use Teamwork, you can basically never lose your defence. You keep one guy spawning squad mates, you can keep that defence up, or your offense. You have that one medic on your squad that keeps reviving the rest of the squad, you can keep it up. You get an engineer to ride in your helicopter to keep repairing it, while you ferry guys over to the objective and drop them off, or keep a tank up and running until you've destroyed the base... i mean, the majority of the gameplay elements in that game are built around teamwork.

The fact that you value success on either winning/losing shows you do have a classic MP attitude to it. This isn't COD or Halo, where you look at a little score to see who is winning, Battlefield has always been about more than that. I mean, it's essentially what it's name is, a 'Battlefield' simulator.

Basic teamwork in BF, or most online shooters, is running around in a huge group killing enemies that are not running around in a huge group. When that doesn't work, it will come down to vehicles and actual player vs player skill.

Battlefield 2 used commander mode which added a layer depth beyond fairly mindless shooting. Airstrikes, supplies, re-informents, scans revealing enemy stuff like that. The enemy could actually damage the other teams base removing features like airstrikes. They removed it with Battlefield 3 rather than improving and expanding upon it. I can only assume they done this to make is more accessible or because that type of interface doesn't suit a control pad. Regardless, whatever the reason, I think it's a pretty bad one.

No, its sad how badly you guys are trying to make these games more than they are. I can't comment on Battlefield 2 because I've only ever played Bad Company 2 which I guess is a bad example of a Battlefield game from what I hear but Battlefield 3 looks exactly like it so I'm sure it won't be that much different. You play to win. How do you win by capturing or defending points. Its that simple, yes you need teamwork to either capture or defend thats obvious but its not more teamwork than I've seen in other games. I'm not sitting here saying its a bad game or that it takes no teamwork because it does take teamwork to win, I'm just saying its not more than I've seen in other games.

But how is it no more than other games? How does the class system, with medkits, ammo resupplies, repair tools etc, how is the core gameplay idea NOT encouraging and enforcing teamwork more than most games?

Even in the beta, I found that if my team was crappy lone-wolves we almost always lost, especially on defenders. It's definitely still a very team-oriented game, even more so than other similar FPS games like COD IMO.

Exactly. With a game like CoD that is so heavily focused on the lone wolf, all it takes is one stand out player to tip the balance. It doesn't matter how good you play in BF, if your team isn't playing as well you won't win.

As wolvieboy said, the mere inclusion of med kits and ammo drops makes the game more team oriented compared to a CoD.

Found a 250 GB HD for the slim Xbox 360 for $35.00 on Amazon. Can't beat that. That will definitely help out for all of the DLC on the horizon for Battlefield 3 and Arkham City.

IGN's review of the PC version goes live tonight at midnight.

I'm excited to get my hands on both Battlefield and Modern Warfare. Both will be good breaks from wandering around forests in Skyrim a few weeks from now.

I thought this was pretty awesome.

Wow. That's crazy how much you have to compensate from that distance! Very cool.

Still no console reviews for this? I'm guessing they won't come til Tuesday at least?

At the earliest they won't be until Tuesday, but the few outlets that have said anything make it sound like it won't be until later in the week. They haven't even received copies yet and getting a copy tomorrow wouldn't give them enough time to properly play it by Tues.

EA obviously doesn't want the console version reviewed until after release day (they would have sent copies otherwise), most likely because of a big launch patch that won't be available until then.

Or because they're worried about poor reviews effecting sales. I guess we'll find out though.

I heard EA was caught pressuring publications over Battlefield 3 reviews. Seems like they're worried about something.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be like Medal of Honor that was embarassing
