*sniff* Just bought 3 copies for the price of 1 full retail. So beautiful. :waa:

Rented this today. The sp is not good. Very boring.

I agree, it's total garbage and a waste of resources.
I liked the plane part but that was about it. I think it should have it's review score chopped for that. If you are going to put SP in do a good job. Portal 2, Halflife and Uncharted do not have this problem. And while you're at it Dice, try making an SP that isn't a wack-a-hole MOH/Call Of Duty clone.

Yeah, so true. I remember when they first announced they were adding SP to Uncharted, everyone was like "No, no! That will totally detract from the MP the series is known and loved for!" But Naughty Dog showed them, right?

23 hours left for me. Hey Pat, will you be on this time tomorrow night? Capwood and I are gonna be signing on for the first time so maybe we can squad up and you can hold our hands while we get used to everything :P

Yea dude, If I'm one, we'll squad up.

Has anyone played the 360 version yet?

Im playing on it. Its incredible.

Rented this today. The sp is not good. Very boring. The online however is very fun and ive changed my stance on battlefield online. The visuals are good. Very enjoyable so far

I say use that SP disc as a coaster.

I know SP is meant to be terrible, but I'll still play it for the achievements. And I'm still glad there's a co-op, even if it's not amazing, it's still nice to have something like that if you just want a brief break from the intense MP action, you know, just do a level or 2 with a friend then hop back into it.

Since I rented it ill try and get all the achievements for sp but itll be a chore. The sp gets worse everytime i play it

BF isn't about revolutionizing the SP campaign; it's about revolutionizing the MP experience. EA/DICE have been very clear that they're inexperienced with SP and that it's not the focus of the game, so it's pretty silly to whine about how the SP is less-than-great IMO. As "whack-a-mole" as it might be, it's surely not the worst SP experience ever conceived.

it should be held to higher standard, we are supposed to be moving forward not backward in the world of gaming.

I don't really buy into this "it's training for the MP" mush. So what if it is? Doesn't mean it has to be crap. Starcraft II quite literally, has missions designed to prepare the player for multiplayer (that are seperate from the single player) and they are better designed than most single player games on the market. The game was also being sold as a "next gen game now" when when the gameplay in single player really amount to is a MOH gameplay style from 1999 which is long, long past it's sell by date imo. Halflife which was 1998 had more sophisticated level design, AI and generally, gameplay wise, better in every respect. It's about as coke can a game as you can get. From player Mirrors Edge it's not like Dice can't produce fairly original games with interesting idea's and concepts.

"whack-a-mole" as it might be

No doubt.

Wait, so the 'whack a mole' thing is the reason the SP sucks? So by that standard, does every COD game also suck? That's more or less exactly the same in the COD game, if you stand far enough back so enemies keep respawning.

That's not the criticism I've heard about the BF3 singleplayer, everyone else has just said it feels like it's treading on old ground.

Battlelog isn't that bad as it was made out to be. I'm not forced to watch or skip a bunch of start up credits or jump through several menues. I can just jump right into it.

I'm actually glad they didn't waste too much time on the SP.

The more i play, the more i fall back in love with BF. This is easily some of the most epic virtual fire fights iv ever been in. The sense of scale and destruction around you is incredible. So far I'm loving EVERY map iv played, hell even the Operation Metro map is great for Conquest.

I can't wait to jump back on this later. So fun. So gorgeous.

One of the big things I've been wondering/worried about is the map scale vs players on the console version. Specifically, I'm wondering how they play, because the PC version has 64 player capability or something while the online has 24 IIRC. So, with the massively huge maps, is there a lot of slow, down-time on the console version since there's less players per server? Like, do you spend a lot of time wandering around the massive maps without running into any enemies?

Pat, care to comment?

just got my copy, should I start with MP or SP?

Multiplayer. I haven't touched single player yet. Going to wait until my HDD comes in to do that. I'm a bit worried because it seems you can only install the high definition pack on Xbox 360 HDD and it wouldn't work on my old external HD nor the memory unit in the console. Turns out I just found out the HDD I ordered is non-OEM so I'm worried it won't recognize it and install.

If anybody wants to squad up feel free to add me. I've been doing pretty well thus far.

It's a lot like how it was in BC2. Rarely do you feel like the map is too big because the objectives are placed so well. And of course if you are in a plane, the map scales so you can go further than the ground troops. There is absolutely no problem with the map scaling man.

Why in the blue hell would you be interested in single player when there is a mp like this? That's like buying uncharted because you are mainly interested in the multi player.
