Laughing hard at the reaction to this news. Especially on Twitter.

''Ruined my childhood''... one of the classics, although I thought that statement was reserved only for Bay's movies.

I knew right after Christopher Nolan left, it wouldn't take long for Warner Bros to ruin Batman again.

We already got a great Batman in Bale. Let's just all keep an open mind and have fun with Affleck's version.

Some of the twitter responses are brutal...

even if you like the idea of affleck...this is still hilarious.

Before seeing The Town I would have been very let down by this. But Affleck is a good actor, I just dont him as Batman at all though, he just doesnt carry the threat for it for me and he always plays the same character.
That is the exact point. It is that others think Affleck is a horrible actor or anything. Just wrong for the part. I keep trying to see it my mind, and it works for some shots, but then I think about his face and him speaking and I just can't see it.

Cavill is very young. Affeck in his 40's and seems to be headed in the more "experienced" role. To me, on the surface, means Cavill has MANY years as Superman and both Supes and Batman will continue on with their solo films after WF, but Cavill has the higher ceiling with the Supes character judging by age.

I've never understood the hate that Affleck gets either, BUT it's more limited to being a "geek' thing...if the general public hated him like alot of our geek brethren do, he wouldn't be the big name star he is.

I really can't imagine anybody being let down by this.

Good (yes, good) actor. Right look. Right age. Experience behind camera. Fit.

It's a very good choice. Maybe a safe one, but a very good one.

My problem is that Affleck always plays Ben Affleck. Even in his greatest movies he's still just playing Ben Affleck. So, like with Clooney, I worry that it won't be Batman on screen, but rather just Ben Affleck wearing a batsuit.

sure a lot of things can change from now till the movie comes, but there are far BETTER options than Ben Affleck.

imo there is no gray area for this matter and its a huge risk.

It'll be good for Superman to be reminded that he isn't invincible after the victory he had in the first film.
Yeah, because Superman really needs to be humbled... I can't believe I just read that.

Don't clean up the language. Show the phrase for how idiotic it really is.

I think it bodes well for more drama and suspense - it won't be as heavy in action as MOS was. Bruce will feature more than batman - this is why Affleck was brought in - also, i feel, if he has his solo gigs lined up, he will be working with snyder to shape his batman.

Make no mistake, Affleck knows the challenge he is against.

He will want to do this for the fan boys..

I knew right after Christopher Nolan left, it wouldn't take long for Warner Bros to ruin Batman again.

Nolan isn't the end-all, be-all when it comes to Batman. Affleck's rebuilt his career and image, and he deserves a second chance.

I don't think Nolan would've chosen him as a new Batman after Bale, but it's entirely subjective.

You guys are just... :whatever:

No one hates Affleck, its the same situation as clooney. My problem is that Affleck always plays Ben Affleck. Even in his greatest movies he's still just playing Ben Affleck. So, like with Clooney, I worry that it won't be Batman on screen, but rather just Ben Affleck wearing a batsuit.

He WAS hated by the general public for a number of years and only recently made a comeback into their good graces by making prestige friendly, but incredibly simplistic and safe films as a writer/director. Doesn't mean they're unenviable or don't play to his limited strengths as an actor.

But he lacks the weight and brooding quality that Batman requires.
