I have no problem with this thread, but when somebody comes on here and says Hardy's Bane was "puny", i roll my eyes because i find that to be such a typical fanboy thing to say. It's completely ridiculous.

Bane's always supposed to tower over Batman in size, it was hilarious to see that TDKR's version was actually shorter than him(even in the film). That's a small Bane ain't it?

I dont recall him being shorter in the film. I remember him being a bit taller and then same height in the odd scene. Smaller than the comics? Sure. Puny? Cmon now.

Actually, a typical fanboy thing to say would be that TDKR Bane is actually big and intimidating. He was a puny little ****.

Now, I don't think it would have been fair to expect some stupid, roided out looking Bane like the comics. I hate when they portray him as this big, dumb, hulking thing. It would have been nice to have seen something a little better than this though,

I love how you purposely go out of your way to find the smallest pics (on set nonetheless which is irrelevant) just to make your point milost. Incredible.

If you think Hardy wasn't huge and intimidating but a puny little ****, then you must be some super massive Rock looking dude. Because he was huge and intimidating. Look at his screentest footage, and that's just him natural and he's friggin massive. The Heinz Field set photos, he was smaller, that's why they covered him up. Plus it didnt matter because they can shoot it so he looks bigger.

You make me laugh milost. Yeaaaah...he wasn't big or intimidating at all...mmmhmmm, whatever makes you feel like a tough guy! By all means! You'd probably act like Daggett if you were confronted by movie Bane.

He NEVER looks bigger than Batman. In the Prologue, Bane looks his smallest. Especially when he's sitting in the back of the van with the hood over his head. He looks like the smallest out of the group, then later when the CIA agent has him on his knees.

I remember the first time I saw the Prologue and the CIA Game of Thrones man said, "you're a big guy", I chuckled. Sure you are Bane! Sure you are!

Just remember, when you're watching the Gotham's Reckoning scene that he's standing on a box to go from this,

You know im right, that's why you answer with sarcastic gifs and on-set pics of Hardy when he's at his smallest. Oh and he was the biggest guy in the back of that truck, i dont know what you're talking about there. Build-wise.

He's not a big guy? Hardy is built like a tank.

1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Arkham Origins

Those are really the only ones worth mentioning. Prior to TDKR his appearances were usually mediocre at best and terrible at worst.

Not in TDKR.

I guess you don't know anything about photography or filming your subject in a dark room with overhead lighting. It'll make everything look bigger and tone even the fattest or thinnest person. Why do you think those were the first pics to come rolling in when Bane was first revealed? To sell the fanboys. :funny:

Look at his left arm there, "OH WOW, WHAT MUSCLES!"

Hardy's traps were impressive to me, that's what separated him from a lot muscly action guys you usually see in movies. It really complimented Hardy's naturally wide back, and his arms were no slouch, despite not being Hogan-level PYTHONS (brother!). He had a very imposing stature. Hardy's just short in real life, so? So is Keaton. So is Tom Cruise. Since when is using a big of movie magic to enhance someone's height a bad thing?

**** me for responding seriously.

My favorite is Nolan/Hardy's version, definitely. It was a far more layered and intriguing character than Bane is usually portrayed. The way it synthesized various aspects from the comics, like the connection to the league and the possible fraternity with Bruce, worked well and for the film trilogy he represented a truly conclusive antagonist with shades of every major previous villains mixed to make something new. In terms of visuals and Hardy's performance, it's no contest for me. I'd always found Bane to be kind of weirdly racially charged with the luchador motif bordering on stereotype. I much prefer Hardy's ethnically ambiguous and off-kilter approach.

Too bad they gave a chunk of HIS origin to Talia in order to produce that… plot twist crap.

Really does not bug me. I would rather have a Bane with a rather nifty angle and who is not weakly addicted to Venom than have one who broke out of the prison himself.

In your other thread, I made comparisons to the Lazarus Pit. I think the removal of that from the Ra's Al Ghul character's mythology leaves a far bigger hole than Bane not breaking out of the prison himself. Yet, the one in the movie that features more overall changes from the comic book source material is the one fans obsess over.

I like how this turned into whining about Hardy being too small. Really? In the film you cannot tell. He looks bigger than Batman during their big fight (especially both times he choke grabs him) and he towers over his goons that he Darth Vader-style disposes of in the sewer and later Daggett as well. Who cares if he's short in real life if the film makes him look like he is at least 6'3?

I mean, I guess Hardy could have taken the cheap short cut and done a lot of steroids...just like the comic book Bane. Instead, he looked like a formidable foe and not a roided out jock. Oh well.

The single most significant change to the major characters in the films from my point of view is not having Bruce and Talia get involved before the death of Ra's. That fundamentally changes her character and the relationship between the three of them.

The Lazarus Pit being removed was a pretty big change, but I thought it was pretty clever how Nolan paid homage to it and Ra's 'immortality' so it didn't end up bothering me much.

As for Bane, how he is escapes the prison is pretty insignificant. Dumping the Venom was a bigger change, but the gas mask rendering Bane immune to pain is functionally the same gimmick.

I always wondered how he eats and drinks

Hardy was no David Prowse. Certainly not the presence of the Prowse/Jones power house either.

As for the steroids, better be sure,

tom-hardy-christian-bale-bane-batman-battle-02.jpg

Bacne is usually a symptom of being on the juice. A lot of times, the anabolic steroids makes the body plump up and look fat instead of muscle. Bane looks pretty fat instead of ripped, especially those B cup Bane bewbs. Just look at the test footage. If Hardy was using steroids for the role, then he was doing it wrong.

Why do i even bother..he's a big guy, get over it.

Like i said, if you dont think Hardy was huge IN THE MOVIE then you must be the size of the Rock or something. Or you're trying too hard to hate every little thing about the movie to the point where you're starting to believe your own rubbish.

Yeah seriously milost, I've never seen you bring up Hardy's size once until this thread. I can only assume that this isn't something you actually care about too much, and this is merely you finding a new way to feed your TDKR-hate addiction.

It's either that, or you're just another self-proclaimed fitness expert on a superhero message board. I'm actually trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here.

I was hoping Shika would be wrong, but it took less than a page for this thread to go downhill.

Alright Alright, let's end the feud over the short-Bane here. Let's talk about why the AO Bane is the second best version everyone else's opinion. I also happened to love how Bane was portrayed in "Over the Edge"

Bacne lol

You can't deny this section of the boards is entertaining.

Where's the dude who proclaimed he could beat Tom Hardy ?

Also that photo is shopped (bane is supposed to be looking at his eyes...)

Even tough ben mendelsohn might actually be taller than tom hardy.
