I just hope they have some corny humor, and some special effects that will really amaize us.

I hope, that someday I can just torrent food... cars... and other things lol.

The plot really sounds absurd.... go to a different dimension to grow crops?

To expand on the premise a bit (minor spoilers):

The Earth is pretty much barren of crops. We've used up most of the resources. So, they're attempting to go to another planet to set up civilization there, where they have new crops and resources.

That is, if I remember the script correctly. I haven't read it in months and my memory is a bit fuzzy on parts. To anyone who remembers it better, is that description fairly accurate?

Oh you have read the script! Great! What else can you tell us?

You mean what more can he tell you? Spoiler tag it all, bro. I don'ts wanna hear it.

The older draft when it was going to be a Spielberg film, and a lot of people here seem to have read it too (I only got it because someone here sent PM'd it when I asked months back, it's since been taken down).

Oh. Then it might very different. Apparently Nolan combined that script with an original idea he had and came up with the new script.

I don't plan on explaining the whole plot anyway. Really, I don't think it's a great idea to just read paragraph summaries when it comes to films. They really don't do it justice.

Going off the premise we've gotten, I'm willing to bet that part will still be involved.

The "crops" angle will definitely be something I'm sure will be interesting and like most Nolan films there is probably a whole lot more to it all.

There very much is. Remember some would only think his Batman movies were superhero flicks. There is more than meets the eye.

Ahem.

When you look at things like overpopulation and climate change, the concept that we will dry out our natural resources does not seem so absurd. Nolan just takes it further than we're even initially predicting right now. If the American bread basket goes dry, rest assured that priorities WILL change.

I actually am really looking forward to how this angle plays out on the big screen and how it is received by certain audiences in this country. Should be fun.

It's a fairly common concept with [blackout]post-apocalyptic[/blackout] stories. [blackout]Lack of resources and space on earth makes human go look for alternatives elsewhere.[/blackout]

Yup. Sounds about right.

So the film is about corn?

I really liked it. It did feel like a very Spielberg movie though. And it geared towards cliche territory on some aspects towards the end but it's still really good.

I'm actually very intrigued with this angle as the lack of farms in science fiction always kind of baffled me, to the degree that Looper really stood out in that regard.

I always thought the same thing and i sincerely believe people (in this case filmmakers and writers) had absolutely no idea about the importance of agriculture.

Color me surprised. No idea the movie had this setting behind it.

The corn has me even more intrigued. I never thought I'd say that. :D
