I'm sure I'll regret it come next November, BUT it's not like this is exactly how it'll appear on screen. We already know Nolan's changed some aspects and it's clear from reading it that he'll change a lot more since pretty much the entire first act isn't Nolan-esque at all.
Despite that it's nothing short of great
EDIT: I stopped after 32 pages. Don't want to know any more, but this movie is going to freaking rock. I hope Nolan doesn't change a lot of what I read because it's very Spielberg-esque but brilliant, this is another winner. Once you read/see it you'll know why McConaughey was cast - he fits Cooper like a glove.
Since a load of people have been asking for the script via PM, I'm drawing the line at the person I last sent it to cos I've sent it to a few on here and off SHH already, sorry to the others
Yeah, I'm not reading any script before the film. Never got the fun in that. Sure it can be interesting. But it's the film experience I'm a lover of, not the script reading experience. So I gotta prioritize.
Knowing every beat of the story, every single line etc, for me it takes away from that first time magic and anticipation.
I didn't read much, but the basic things I read sound great. If it really explores more of whats going on then just focusing on the action, sounds like Nolan may have responded to the few critics of Inception who claimed, in the end, he focused more on big set pieces and action and Leo's character's dramatic arc then the actual dreams and the wonder behind dreamscape.
Such criticism always made me wonder what kind of bizzaro world we were living in when an action film with well shot sequences and a solid character focus and emotional core were something to criticize.
Yep. Jonah's draft from 2008 though, that's the disappointing part. Nolan will and has changed a lot of stuff from it though, plus apparently Variety said this version differs from the previous drastically so I'm not worried about the movie being spoiled
Wow. Just finished reading the 2008 draft. I loved it. It's amazing and will surely be beautiful visually. It's very Spielberg (in a good way). First 30 pages or so and you can tell why he was attached to the project for so long. By the last act, it goes all Kubrick on you. t: The 3rd act is fantastic and the story has a lot of heart.
Matthew's character (Cooper, 30s) is a clear lead and IMO the best role in the script. I think there's a number of actors that can do the role equally well but I'm excited to see Matthew in this. The character's amazing and has some key emotional moments. There's no scene-stealer or any loud character among the supporting cast. The 2nd biggest role is the only significant female role (Brand, 30s) and I'm guessing this is Anne's role. Personally, I can imagine Chastain more for the part but either of them can do it. It's a good role but it's not flashy as say Mal or Selina Kyle and it kind of fell into cliche territory towards the end. Still a good big role nevertheless. I'm guessing that Caine is playing Brand's father. There are a few more older male characters (40s, 50s) so either Nolan is adding another female character or he's changing one of these characters to a female (I'm guessing the Doyle character).
There are two characters that are very interesting and I absolutely loved but to say anything else would be very spoiler-ish. And don't expect any of your favorite actors for these two roles because (HEAVY SPOILER)
they're robots. Well unless you want them to do voice work. Or Chris changes them to not look like robots.
It should be interesting how the studio will market this movie.
It's so tempting to see if I can read the script but I feel it'll be more rewarding to wait until next November and see it on the big screen. Maybe I'll read if afterwards to see the differences. But I'm glad that the earlier draft is getting such great reception.
Male character in their 50's? PLEASE announce that Gary Oldman is joining the cast.

Definitely not as much as Inception. It's more of exploration (as you'd expect from a space expedition movie) rather than action. But there are some still some stunning action pieces.
